Mathcad

Hi   Attached is a calc Im working on. Everything seems OK until I try to enter a value for epsilon/D and then the program keeps popping that it must be a scalar value. Progressively I wish to use the value of Epsilon/D and then calculate Cf. Here also the program keeps saying Cf is not defined. Kindly assist.   Regards Shastry

I have an initial matrix containing "Yes" and "No". This initial Matrix is named A. A can start with a "Yes" or start with a "No" and the times "Yes" and "No" are in the A Matrix should be unlimited.    In A the "Yes" and "No" do always alternate, they never repeat.   Then there are two matrices which are really vectors; B and C.   I want to stack these two vectors which might have the same number of columns or might not. For this case A, B, and C always have one row.   Recap: A is manually input; B and C are also manually input. Matrix D is generated.             Matrix D is the generated Matrix which is going to have one row. For columns it will have the sum of the                columns of B and C or simply the number of columns from the A Matrix which should be the same as the              sum of columns of B and C.   D’s first element will be

Final goal is to output a Graph with X and Y values.   I am having problems with the generation of the Y values. The Y values depend on weather an initial value is "Yes" or "No" under the variable Assembly.   I would like to replace matrix B and C for a single matrix that will take into account the Matrix called Assembly.    If you look at both examples, SW-1 and SW-3, you will notice that matrix B depends on weather Assembly starts with a "Yes" or a "No". Matrix C is simply the cumulative addition of matrix B.   I was thinking of creating a Loop that starts with Matrix ShearWall.Gap and applies the multiplication ShearWall.Gap0 times (v.shearwall-v.diaphragm) if Assembly is "Yes" or -ShearWall.Gap0 times (v.diaphragm) if Assembly is "No" and then continue doing what Matrix B and C are doing. Stack the C values and be able to graph them.   Thanks for any of your input.

I want to make a dynamic report using Word and MatCAD (15 M045).However, I ran into some problems: 1. Formulas typed and formatted in MathCAD lose their style (underline, italics, etc.) with a special insert in Word. Is it possible to somehow fix this? 2. Noncritical problem: the Russian-language text from Matkad is inserted into the Word with hieroglyphs (solved this problem through the GOST font, it does not give distortions). Is this an encoding problem? I try to create a symbolic matrix (in my example, the matrix RES  ).  The problem is that I cannot have the result in the form of a matrix, the only way to obtain what I want is to say that RES is not a matrix and is depending on two others variables corresponding to the indexes of the "matrix" (RES2 solution in the attached file question.xmcd). However, I need to use this result after and I need to have the result in the form of matrix.   How can I do to obtain my result in the form of a matrix ?   Thanks !

Hello all, whenever I try to solve this mathematical equation, it always gives me an error.  I am pretty sure I am doing osmething wrong or not writing the equationj ina proper way, but until now havnt found out any solution to fix this problem.    It will be very kind of your experts to kindly help me out in this small issue.  The file is attached, in this file you will see "b_limit", which always shows an error for bing_bent, can anyone help me out to solve this please?   Best Ashutosh Mukherjee

Attached is a little problem in 4.0 that has me stumped - not sure how to set it up to solve.   The problem is for a pump - which we know performance of.  I need to find the speed to deliver the required flow and pressure must exceed the requirement (it can be higher) and the speed should be such that the consumer power is lowest while meeting the flow & pressure needs.  Since efficiency/flow/head curves vary it's possible that the lowest power speed delivers more pressure than necessary, but does so efficiently.   Everything works up to the solve block, and despite many attempts I can't figure out how to formulate it. To all,   I am looking/thinking about something and would like to know if it’s possible to create vectors populated with random numbers. I have only started thinking about it so don’t throw a stone at me if it’s so obvious.   In the attached mcad 15 sheet, I have an equation which is the sum of j-values (j=3 in my example) Is there a way of generating the values in the vectors in a random way so that the vector length is changed by the user? For example I may want a 1st pass with j=10, then j=20 and maybe j=100   The constraint is that for the vector fnv: f1 < f2 <f3<…<fj   Would this be better set-up as a MonteCarlo problem using mcad buil-in function   Thanks in advance

I understand that my S 2 and L x are both defined as vectors.  I’m using a comparison operator (<) that compare scalars, not vectors.  I have no clue how to make an if/else if statement work.  Any assistance or advice would be extremely appreciated.

The solution to solve this problem was to calculate the intersections of the two cycles. In the dokument "Berechnung_Masse_Hub" is at the first site a picture of the geometrie.   The following calculation i need is to calculate the speed of the stroke zylinder. The angular speed is constant, i like to have these angular speed as a variable. At the end of these calculation i got a diagramm, where is on the x-axis the stroke of the zylinder in mm, and at the y-axis is the stroke speed in mm/sek.   Thanks for helping.   Marc

In particular I'm interested in the 3rd, 4th, and 8th items labelled "PTC Mathcad Add-in for Microsoft Excel", "PTC Matchcad/AutoCad Integration", and "PTC Mathcad/Revit Integration". When I click on any of those links, I get a "Document Not Found" page. Hi, Function for evenly spaced points in Mathcad 11 or later.  Can easily be written for Prime.  

I am writing a program and would like to use an if statement  with the following format   if X exist if X does not exist   Running Prime 5. I did not see this as an option in the help files. Mathcad 15 does not appear to have the feature either   David

I don't think this is possible, but hope dies last, so hence this post:   Is it possible to plot multiple traces in Mathcad Prime with the arguments being sourced form a single matrix or array?Let's say I have a simple function of the form f(x): 2x + a I have an array of 'a' values: a: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]   I wish to plot 5 traces (a trace for each value in 'a') without manually adding and writing out the function five times in the plot window (there will be cases when I might need to plot many more than 5 traces, so looking for efficient methods).   Your responses would be greatly appreciated.

to all math experts,   I have started looking at a method involving PSD and co-variance matrices. I am trying to set-up an example in mathcad (15) out inf interest and struggling with an eigenvalue extraction. I think I need to "invert" the problem but don't know how. Attached mcad15 file and a pdf. see sheets 4 & 5   Some pointers on my ignorance would be welcome   As a side issue: I am correct in thinking that one cannot calculate the cross-spectra  PSD form 2 PSDs   Thanks Regards

One mathematician has said me that if you have 6 parameters in the minimize function - you must have 6 or more equations in this solve block. I have only 4! Is it correct? See please one interesting problem in attach! Thanks! 

Trying to help an instructor solve a problem. He has requested that we go back to an older version of MathCad because Prime  can't do what he needs. Example provided below.   The MathCad prime cannot plot a figure (Z), when the variable (Y) is a function of another variable (x). Example: ------- x = a, b, ... c Z = f(Y) Y= f(x)   Plot Z as a function of x. -------

I am needing assistance integrating the attached equations. What I am wanting is a symbolic result of a generalized Maxwell equation for the force generated by the flux density. I have the flux density equations and the Forces (Fx,Fy) is the cross product of the Z cross Y and Z cross X components respectively. taking each independently and integrating twice will result in the the force.    What I need is the resulting symbolic equation.  my attachment only has the Fx info Fy is a similar result. What I am looking for from the community is some suggestions to how to break this down so it will integrate?      Thanks looking forward to your responses.   Richard

I can not figure out the syntax mistakes I am making. I know there is a way to use matrix callouts together with symbolic equations. In the included example I want to get a 3 row 1 column back where the top row is calculated using the top row of all the matrices mentioned and the second row is calculated using the second row of all the matrices mentioned and so on. Where am I going wrong?   Thanks

I'm modeling glucose conversion to ethanol through solving a series of ODEs of enzymatic reactions. How do I set the constraint that all concentrations are >= 0 and the total mass of all compounds in the pathway are constant over time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
