Mathcad

A few months ago my office equiped me with a "tablet computer"--in this case a Dell Venue Pro, which is functionally equivalent (more or less) to the better-known Microsoft Surface Pro. I upgraded to Prime 3, and eventually got it installed and licensed. Then the trouble started--it will not work on the road, because of "invalid license."After a lot of effort, the problem was tracked to the fact that these computers do not have a resident Ethernet adapter. That adapter is in the docking station that I use when in the office. The license is keyed to the MAC address of the Ethernet--i.e., to the docking station hardware. So I can use Mathcad on the road as long as I carry the docking station with me! Kind of defeats the purpose, no?I have worked out some alternatives with PTC support but none of them are practical or accomplish the flexibility I expected. That is one problem. The other problem is that PTC does not state this as a requirement of Mathcad usage.Just another example of PTC's

Anyone has a script to preserve the state of a checkbox when it is closed then reopened?I've seen a script for a listbox here: http://communities.ptc.com/docs/DOC-1379 but no checkbox. Thanks

Hello PTC developers, I think this has been discussed here in 2012 concluding that it is a bug!. Now in 2014, any update on when this is going to be fixed if it is going to be fixed at all?In my case the first column read OK except for the first row. The row looks is shifted left with the first value missing. also the headers get shifted right. See attached sample.The file is read well using 'file input'.It's a shame as READCSV & WRITECSV can be much more handier than using 'input/output file'.Many thanks,Ahmad

Friends,after defining f(x,y): x / y , I tried to plot as an 3D chart.Unfortunately, that's not possbile and resulting in an error message.

Way back in the days of the Collaboratory there was a thread http://communities.ptc.com/message/45030#45030 discussing how to get longer animations beyond 999 (or 9999!).The main point is that the dialog box is sized in one (microsoft) way and the characters being typed in by some (microsoft) font size. As the versions have come and gone the available space for the ### characters has reduced, limiting the animation length.Unfortunately the pictures have been lost, so I'm wondering if anyone knows the right settings for changing the screen DPI (if this is what is need) to get a bigger dialog box, and also to change the system font that Mathcad is using (to something smaller) so that I can get at least 9999 (four) digits of animation.Ideally I'd like to be able to animate at regular display DPI, yet get at least 1100 FRAMES (i.e. enter 4 characters in the dialog box)I'm using V15M030 on XP (home) and on W7 (work).Philip

I have an error by using Minimize & Maximize in Mathcad 15.But all is OK in Prime 3Why?

I practiced integration. First picture is a example that I practiced After practicing, I applied to my work with same method. But I got error. I thought why error is generated althogh the method is same. I can't know.

Hello PTC community, thanks for taking your time to check this post out. I dont know if mathcad can do this but im pretty sure it can for what Ive seen. I want to make the sum of multiplying a component of a vector with a component of a matrice in an especific column, then with the next component of the vector with the second row in the same column and so on. Details are attached in the document. Thanks for all!   PS. If you are familiarized with chemical engineering, the problem I want to solve is a multicomponent destilation tower with the rigorous method ( I think its the Amundson-Pointnen method)

Hello I recently studied about mathcad through book named "Essential PTC mathcad Prime 3.0"I saw half of the book becasue I felt get experience that I need to study basic thing.Although I studied for a week about basic, I couldn't understand "integration"so I want to get advice.And I wonder that it is possible to change "range" to "vector" about all my work.I guess to need to change "range" to "vector" in order to finish my work.

Hello my friends,I know that solve block doesnt work with ranges, but a good friend gave me an example in the worksheet im going to insert(he has solved me a lot of doubts and kinda feel ashamed to bother him again). If you could explain me that way of solving the range, or if you have another way to solve it , it would be great. The example is right after calculating the K matrix, the problem i want to solve is down the bottom of the sheet. Also if you have any suggestion to simplify my worksheet, it would be great.Thanks for your time, I hope everyone have a great day!

Hello and good rest of the evening.I'm having a trouble with plotting a function (pressure distribution in a hydrodynamic film bearing).I know how it should approximatly 'look' but am not getting the correct shape.I've of course used the help etc. but can't seem to find out what the problem is. Hi. I have the problem presented in the attachement. I need to replace the value of the determinant of the second expression with B, to make it simpler. I've tried with "explicit, B" but it doesen't work. How do i do that? Thank you

Hi,When I check into Mathcad help, in the controls section, I can read this: “When you open a worksheet, Mathcad re-initializes all of the controls contained within the file. As a result, Mathcad may reset certain controls - typically, list boxes - and thus not preserve their saved state.” I wanted to know if it is possible that a control (list box or check box) would not be re-initialized each time a worksheet is opened. I would like to have the state of the control saved. Is there a script line who could do that?Thanks a lot!

Is it possible to include parameter constraints when using genfit? If so, how is it implemented?I need to fit a non-linear equation (Richards function) and genfit crashes with the current setting. I supply all the derivative functions with respect to the parameters.Any insight is greatly appreciated.Ulrich Hopfer

MathCAD 15, can't do 3-D plotting - gets a pop up which is a dead window. The widgett opens blank, hesitates, then opens.

Hi folks wondering if you can help me? I am using mathcad to solve polynomial equation. I have attempted the question and wanted to see if the question is correct and I am doing what is asked of me. I have to solve it in two different ways other than graphical. I have tried to solve it this way first. Basically h(x)=6 to four decimal places. The answer is in the uploaded file. Would be grateful for some insight.b) Using MathCad solve the polynomial h(x) = 6 using at least two different methods other than graphical, giving your answers to 4 decimal places........ h(x)=x4-x3-19x​2-11x+30
