UPDATE 2014-10-06 (rev 3): I am finally done with NGAS (I think). Over the weekend, I developed programs to size service connections to meet both the pressure and velocity criteria, not just to meet the pressure criterion as in Revision 2. Here is what is now in the .zip file:Lusk_NGAS_Distribution Systems.mcdx & .pdf — This worksheet calculates flows and pressures in a natural gas distribution system consisting of a multi-segment Main Line and up to two service connection branches at each Main Line juntion node. Design pipe sizes are found by trial and error, specifically by editing the pipe data until the design criteria are met or met close enough for your purposes.Lusk_NGAS_Unit Conversions.mcdx & .pdf — This worksheet shows how to convert natural gas demands and flows from one set of units to another and discusses ways to determe the peak demands to use for design. This worksheet functions as an appendix to the other seven worksheets.Lusk_NGAS
This is a file that was developed and used in a court case involving drainage. In this file I go into some depth in using the Rational Method to compute the peak flow from a catchment. I felt that this catchment was made for the Rational Method.
A dynamics problem involving 3d motion. I solve the problem using vector arithmetic rather than vector diagrams, which would be quite difficult. In my opinion getting students use to daily use of matrix algebra makes doing such problems easier. The problem is that the student has to learn to "trust the math" rather than a visual vector diagram.
Has anyone figured out how to use the OCDB kit? I am in the process fo converting from MathCad 15 to Pirme 3.0 and there is quite a learning curve on this. Does anyone have example files that they can share.
The attached contains an expression I wish to use in a solver to determine x-amount of constants (the Q's) from a system of an equal amount of equations and unknowns (the constants). The problem in mathcad arises when I'm using multiple (two) arrays within the solve block.
Hello one & all-I did a Mathcad course a few years back but have never actualy used in since-I remeber during the course that you could solve equations, for example, if 2x + 3z=y, find the value of x?Moved offices and have lost my course book( know it's here somewhere!) but any tips & tricks on how to solve equations-remember you had to type given in the math page but twasa looong time ago! Cheers all!!Graeme
Hi,First time posting on these forums, been reading around for a couple of years though.I would like to create a plot of 4 functions (let's say it's different pressures depending on a variable, h). I've done this in the appended example. However, I would now like to plot only 2 of the functions if a variable, say "condition", is =1.How can I do this? I have tried adding an "if" statement on the y-axis of the plot itself, like this:----f.1(h) if condition=1----, but I get a critical error when doing that, and the plot goes blank.I'm using MathCad 15.Any suggestions are appreciated,Thank you,Hampus
Does anyone know if you are able to convert files created in MathCad Prime 3.0 back to MathCad 14 format. I have the converter that allows me to convert MathCad 14 worksheets to be used on Mathcad Prime 3.0, but my colleagues all have MathCad 14 and therefore can't open files that I create in prime.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I know Lusk recently posted some files on this, but it was not really what I was looking for. I am trying to be able to generate a table of thrust forces at select junctions in my pipeline. Currently, it is set up for one pressure, but I want to evaluate multiple scenarios in this sheet. Pressure for steady state, test, surge (e.g. 20, 50, 35). The middle one only has a static component, but the others require analysis. The other problem I need to figure out, may be a programing issue, is the restraint for a dead end. The X component using 90 degrees is correct; however, you plug in 0 for your angle and the result is 0. Functions, programming, etc. are all fair game. I'd like a CSV dump to send to a spreadsheet when all is said and done. Your help is greatly appreciated in
Greetings to all, my problem is as follows: Having a main table, I require to extract certain values in the same to form a new matrix only data of interest. As a picture is worth a thousand words, the following figure try to explain what I try to do: I have tried to get it using programming, but as I am new to using Mathcad I think I have tangled more and I get an error:Hope you can help me, thank you very much for the help
Is there a code to calculate the determinant of square matrix by gauss elimination method ?thank you
I'm looking for fatique analysis on metals .. think statue of liberty .. all kinds of structures . Thanks
Is there a way to convince mathcad optimizer that your really serious when you want all the entries of an optimization vector to be positive?
I was doing some reseach on what happen to the ComputerVision CAD program. It appears CV bought the CAD program Prime Madusa. CV was in turn purchased by PTC. Maybe that is why MathCAD has been renamed Prime.Cheers
Hello Im new to mathcad prime 3.0 and im wondering what software to use to draw circuits and then insert it into mathcad to show what im doing, or if mathcad has build in tools to draw circuits. For instance if i do source transformation and i want to show how the circuit look after the transformation is done, how can i draw the circuit and put it in mathcad?. Thanks
Nichols Chart in pdf format, for those who use later versions of Mathcad 14 stud. edit.If anyone has suggestions, they are welcome.Thanks.
Hi,I'm looking for a way to solve x-mount of equations with an equal amount of solutions. However, when I try to use an array in my solve-block I don't get a solution and the amount of equations makes it extremely impractical to solve the equations without using an array. The attached mathcad 15 document is NOT the actual problem but the array-issue is the same.Any help will be much appreciated!
Hello Readers,I had a problem with my main pc, and need to have my laptop downloaded with Mathcad Prime 2 student version.I plan to use the same copy of my Prime 2.I tired to download it and it had trouble continuing, the response was it could not continue with the installation process. Is there a conflict here to download as I had once installed it already?Since I have the password/key to install I should be able to install it on my backup computer. Please advise, since I am not privledged for tech support on student version. Thanks.
I try to solve a pipeflow problem but I have problems in doing so as I have no experience in this type of problem. In the first part of the sheet you will find the known variables. In the second part I try to calculate the different pressures. However, I have problems in setting up the equations. Would anyone be so kind to help me with this? The file is made with MC15
I'm setting up a couple of worksheets (though ideally I'd like to have 2 in 1) that will enable me to work out Fourier series, the respective odd & even extensions and display the graphs.Questions: 1) Is there a way to display a function g(t) in one set of curly brackets? e.g. (something looking like this but inside the culry brackets) 1 (0 < t <= 1) g(t) = { 2 - t (1 < t <= 2)2) Calculations are flagged in red (actually, nothing is being calculated at all!) when I try to work out the Fourier series of g(t) symbolically. I'm not sure what it is that I've missed?!?N.B. I have used the necessary parts from a worksheet that came with my MathCad package 14.0 M020 and trying to make some sense of it.
As you can see in the picture, i want to extract the value of white and black, however when I write black= of course it says placeholder is empty because the code "black" was identified in the function. If I seperate the statemets in two functions I can see the white and black counters but i wanna make the whole process in one function.Thank you.
Hello, please see attachment . i am manually copying and pasting each value from the pivot table into the matrix. is there an easier way to automate this process? the size of the table can be any square table meaning number of rows= number of columns. Thanks!
Working with symbolics is not my strong point. Need a little help with questions on the sheet. Based off of Dr. Alan Stevens critical thickness insulation work. Mostly symantics ... so driving me crazy.
I have tried the same pathway in win7 and i had no problem, however while trying the same steps in win8 i cannot insert picture.I am going to make matrix analysis of picture.I am selecting insert picture but the box is not the same which formates in win7. (First picture)On the other way, I am trying to copy picture and paste on mathcad document, but also mathcad sees that file as a HTML document. As a result, i cannot insert picture to my mathcad document. In the screenshots you will understand what I mean.Thank you.edit :I have tried to open a document which has picture in it, and i get this error.
