PTC Creo Illustrate 3.0 M010 was released on 13 Dec, but what's new in the release? It's easier to show you than to write about it here, so here's a video for you to watch. If you would prefer to read about the enhancements then the 'Read This First' document will be available here shortly: https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/doc/refdoc.jsp?p=browse_results&Product=Creo+Illustrate&Release=Creo+3.0&DocType=2122&Role= (view in My Videos)
Hi,I have 2 questions about 3D symbols in Creo Illustrate1. How can I add a 3D symbol to Illustrate? Should this symbol be of the .ol file type? If yes, with what software can I create an .ol file?2. Where are the sybol library files located? In the manual it is said that the path is \ users\<user_name\AppData\Roaming\PTC\Illustrate\SymbolsLibrary sha but on my laptop such a directory is not visible.Regards,Raymund
I have a huge .asm and in Creo it opens normally, but in Creo View it appears empty. The Creo View tree is strange, something like a save icon appears (see image). Someone can help me? Thanks in advance.
Limitation of '31'characters for naming any dimension of a geometry should be overcome as it is possible in other 3D modelling software.
Hello guys,Do you have solution to install Creo Illustrate Release 2 and Release 3 on the same laptop? Thanks in advancedRegardsChristophe
Getting all dimensions & its details of a geometry at one place as a list may be in the form of any expressions, spreadsheet etc. like someting similar to 'Listed Expressions' in SOLIDWORKS-NX.
Many of us are now using Creo. How many Administrators are taking the time to teach your users the correct lingo? What I have been doing is trying to educate my users on the new lingo and avoid confusion moving forward. My users are always saying things like "I have a question on Creo" or "Can you show me how to do something on Creo" We have to learn the new lingo of the Creo platform. The most common mistake I hear is that my users think they are running Creo now instead of Pro/ENGINEER. You are actually running Creo Parametric and not Creo. This is when my users say "What?" Creo is a platform and it includes serveral apps that make up the platform. Pro/E is now Creo Parametric. Mechanica is now Creo Simulate, Product View is now Creo View, etc. I took the time to explain the difference to my users and make sure they all understand the new
One of my biggest pet peeves is that the way Creo handles GD&T datums is flat out wrong. A datum referenced on a production print must refer to a physical feature of the part, so that someone inpsecting the part knows how to locate the part to inspect it. But Creo only lets you use axes or planes to define datums. These are "theoretical" features that don't actualy exist within the physical part. A planar datum is more of a trivial matter, as you can define a plane to be coincident to any flat surface, and just have to deal with the superfluous 0.00±0.01 dimension from the plane to the surface. But with an axis, it is another matter entirely. An axis datum must be a cylindrical surface. And on a part with multiple cylindrical surfaces all revolved about the same axis, it is wrong to simply define the axis as your datum. One of the surfaces must be the datum, and the remaining surfaces are inspected in reference to the datum. But there is no way to define which surface is the datum,
Stop highlighting whole line segments when the only part that overlaps is the end point vertice. Example: Sketch 3 line segments, then duplicate the middle segment. Then use the "Overlapping Geometry Diagnostic" tool... All 3 line segments highlight. Am I supposed to delete all 3 because they are overlapping? obviously no. Tell that to new users who have enough troubles sketching without adding confusion. SPR 2097338 was filed, but the Mathematician in R&D claims that it is working perfectly, because the end points of one segment "overlap" the end points of the adjacent segment, therefore, both should be highlighted. I feel that "vertex overlap" should be excluded from the "Overlapping Geometry" Tool. There is a separate tool to deal with Vertices - "Highlight Open Ends"
Is there a way to set the drawing format preferences in a macro? I have read through the macro user manual I do not see a way to do this.I would like to be able to set the drawing format size, orientation and units. If anyone has written a macro like this and willing to share I would greatly appreciate the help.I am using IsoDraw 7.1 F000 on a Windows XP machine with all service packs in place.Thank You,Keith HowardNorthrop GrummanTechnical ServicesOklahoma City, OK
Hi All, Can anyone help me to solve the below questions as I am very new to Isodraw and Macro language. Thanks in advance. Scope: I have hell of .iges files and need to explode the assemblies, illustrate them in Isodraw 7.3 or Isodraw 6.1 and save them as as .cgm and .JPEG formats. Question 1: Whn I open .iges files(Created from catiaV5 i guess) and select single bolt for example, all the bolts in the model are getting selected and getting exploded at a time but i need to select individually as they are grouped in original catia file.Is there any option to select them individually and then explode. Please help. Question 2: When i record a macro, where these macros will get stored in Computer for Windows XP Service pack2. Can anyone send me macro to export all the .iso files to .cgm and .jpeg at a time. Please send me macro for Isodraw 6.1 or Isodraw 7.3 or Isodraw 7.0 Cad process. And also how to edit the macro if in need to change anything.
All,I am trying to look at same drawing, different revisions, via overlays. I know that in previous versions (Prior to the CREO moniker) you could view .dxf overlays and compare changes via color changes. Is this possible in Creoview express or am I using the wrong tool? Thanks,Kenny
Ok, this is another one that's totally obvious to me, but did not seem obvious to the creo developers. Why not put a simple ability to click on a part or any entity, and either with a hot key, or with a righ-click menu just template it on the spot, making it gray and un-pickable? I.e. a simple semi-hidden mode, like Alias studio had for decades, where you're still able to see a curve or a part you might use later, but don't want it to be available for picking and want it out of the way. Talk about reducing motions and clicks and constant "hide" and "unhide" operations. This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Is there a way to get text to show up on a 2-d plane? The help guide tells you how to put it on a cylinder, donut, sphere. But not on a flat surface.ThanksBryon
Our users are working with full system data and the time between backups keeps interrupting them and they would like to turn it down. I can see an option in Creo 3 but i can't see an equivalent options box in Creo 2. Is there a backdoor way i can make them happier with?
We would like to build in a decision for standards (size of item ref text) thickness of item ref note, whether it makes a halo. I can't find anywhere i could influence this. Is there a way?
When we have figures in Creo 2 Illustrate that are really zoomed in (no background visible) we find it almost impossible to not leave something highlighted in the figure window. Then when we export that highlighting appears in the output. Is there any easy button we're not understanding for remove all highlighting from the graphics window?
Sometimes we have a long structure (longer than the screen), is there any way in Creo Illustrate to Select Parent so we can collect up the overall parent assy to move it out?
I am a Creo user, mostly Schematics and my HR Department has asked me if CREO is a acronym, does it stand for something? Sincerely, John
We have a customer who wants to be able to move his license between 2 computers in 2 seperate locations, his home office and a clients office regularly. The Flexnet license server used by PTC will allow this functionality, however this is not currently supported by PTC.This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Why do hidden parts show up in creo view? When I open the .edz file, all the hidden parts reappear, it's quite frustrating. Is there anyway to make these parts stay hidden?
Hi All,I am able to addPro2dLinedef in first quadrant of section using element tree.
There is nothing else to download. The 32-bit and 64-bit are on the one DVD. Like you said it auto detects and loads.Do you have a 32-bit machine around to try an install on and see if it works there?
Creo Illustrate viewsWhen we opening an EDZ (exported from Creo) file in Creo View we see the views that engineering has created in the orientation menu. When opening the same EDZ file in Creo Illustrate those view are not present in the in the orientation menu.Is this a bug? Feature? Or am I missing something?
Good day all,I think there is a bug in IsoDraw that causes the background color to switch back and forth between black and white. I have a new Windows 7 laptop, and now I get a black background when I open CGMs.The backgrond always changes to white at about 20% zoom level. It also changes to white when I zoom in more than 100%, but at totally random zoom levels that change when I pan to different parts of the graphic.I can't find a setting in preferences that makes a difference. I have searched all over for posts on this problem, but I have not seen a solution yet. I can't see black text in my callouts without zooming in and out all the time. It's annoying!Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix?-Renee
