how to convert pro-e v5 student edition file to a normal pro-e wildfire 5 file? If a converter is available then please let me know.

Having trouble down loading the Pro/E wildfire 5.0 all I can get to is the evaluation copy, So please again post the website for down-loading it to my lap top that was in the discussion yesterday

After seeing some of the facilities at FIRST@MEZ, I'm interested in how to get facilities like this going.I would love to see multiple responses from multiple schools/facilities.1. How are teams getting past liability for machine shops?2. How are teams funding for the machines (mills, lathes, saws, etc.)3. How is training managed for the machinery?4. I'm one of the co-founders of FIRST@MIchigan Engineering Zone - a collaborative facility where 12 Detroit Public high school FRC teams built and tested their robots last year. This season we intend to have FIRST@MEZ teams use ProEngineer to design their robots. I'm looking for tips and advice on how to best use PTC and other materials to train our teams in the use of ProEngineer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.PS- I'd be happy to share info about the MEZ - what it is, how it was established, accomplishments, etc.

Hello,I got the WF 5.0 Student version for free from the PTC website since my school has a partnership with them (or something like that).Anyways, I was trying to download and install the 64 bit WF 5.0 but installation took forever...it stayed at 1% or 2% for the whole time.What is the problem?My laptop should meet the minimum requirements.4 GB RAM500 GB Harddrive1.73GHz CPU speed (but 2.93GHz with turbo boost...whatever that means)740QM Quad Core ProcessorYour help would be greatly appreciated! What's with teenagers today?  Getting up before noon and actually driving across town to be at an art gallery at 9am??  And then these lazy teenagers get together for two hours at a friends house for another afternoon of CAD training??Teams 1323 and 1671 gathered at the gallery of Chris M. Sorensen http://cmsartstudio.com/ to show off their robots and have a little fun.  While an art gallery seems a bit of an unusal place for robots, it makes a little more sense if you take a look at some of Chris's work, as well as his connections to local businesses.The teams had robot races, jumped the bump and impressed Chris as well as local artists with their mechanical, electrical and software skills.Of course, since it was Saturday, the CAD team had to continue goofing off by invading their buddy's home for two hours of CAD training.  They had a printed copy of the WF4 courseware, so they went ahead and used that to go over the detail drawing exercises.  "Show dimension

Today is Day #1 of a 2 day Hands-on-Workshop for FTC and FRC teams. We have 23 attendees: 65% students, 35% mentors from six teams from MA and CT. The Hands-on-Workshop curriculum has been updated for Wildfire 5.0. The first day is all about Pro/ENGINEER fundamentals and we will also have an hour breakout on Mathcad and Windchill ProjectLink. The second day will be focused on applying the fundamentals to robotics, and some more advanced Pro/ENGINEER principles will be introduced. Hi,I've been trying to install schools edition of Pro/E 5 64bit and Pro/E 4 for windows 7 64bit. The installation hangs as shown in the attachment. I've tried to run the setup as administrator, with/without windows recommended settings and antivirus software turned on/off but the outcome is the same. Team 1671, URSA engineering continuing summer CAD training for FRC.Kudos to Evan and his parents for hosting the training in their home! Nothing like a raucous (not really) bunch of teenagers sprawled all over the floor, couches, etc.geeking out on Pro/E and Windchill on a hot Saturday afternoon!I believe we had a team of about 7 students, all working through the getting started guide.  This is our preliminary training tool.  Evan (a junior) and a veteran of CAD from last season, is guiding the team through the exercises.As always, we're a little slow in getting through the initial installs, Windchill access, PTC accounts, etc.  A few items for other teams/mentors to watch:Mouse settings:  Microsoft Intellipoint software is always a pain.  Also watch out for the middle mouse button settingPTC account:  We tried to standardize on an e-mail service...gmail seems to be the best choice due to Gtalk, document sharing, etc.Computers: Few students have "CAD" la

Hello, I just received my Mathcad 15 student edition purchased from JourneyEd.com. After entering the product code supplied in the factory sealed shrink wrapped box, I encountered the following dialog box after the first and subsequent attempts to register the software: " Thank you for using Mathcad, Single User edition. You have reached the maximum number of license files available for your license type. To aquire another single user license, please visit http://www.ptc.com,..." As I said I just received this software, never attempted to load it on any other computer or the computer in question. Prior to purchasing this software I had Mathcad 2001 student version loaded on this computer, the program was uninstalled several weeks ago. I was able to register a trial version on this computer as an interim measure. What can I do fix this problem? Thanks in advance for the help.v/rKevin Fontes

Welcome to the FIRST group! My name is Josh Houser, a mentor for Team 1671 in Clovis, California, as well as an MCAD administrator for Pro/E at Pelco.I started this group to collaborate with other mentors using PTC products and to compare ways that other teams are using PTC products.I'm always happy to answer questions (sometimes I even know the answer) Hopefully we can get the PTC people here (ahem...Mark?), and get them involved as well. In my experience over the past several years, PTC has improved by leaps and bounds in their support of FIRST and I hope that we can continue to help them improve sponsorship of this fantastic opportunity for kids!I look forward to discussing strategies for training, robot design, Windchill usage, team management, technologies and just about anything else to do with FIRST. FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) is another program for High School students. FTC presents more of an assembly design challenge rather that a design from scratch challenge like FRC. This year's game was Hot Shot! The new game will be announced in September 2010. It's a great time to get a team started and register. They need mentors and corporate sponsors, too. Let me know if you need help finding a team in your area. BTW, PTC provides the kit of parts modeled in Pro/ENGINEER to help the kids get started.     (view in My Videos)

Hi Anybody knows if Photolux should be included in WF5 EDU version? It seems WF5 includes Advanded Render Extension (ARX) but not Photolux Gracias

Hi, I have a problem installing ProE. After clicking the setup.exe (or click install in the launcher) I see a window with the PTC logo and a green bar loading. At the half of the loading I get a Windows massage, that ProE doas not work any more and windows stop the installation. I first thought that it could be my OS (Windoes 7 home premium) so I upgraded it to Windows 7 Professionalx64, but the problem still appear. I also tried it to download it and extract it again but the problem doesn´t disappears. please help me. thank you

Hello all, I'm having problems increasing the final resolution of photolux rendered assemblies. Currently, a 150mm x 150mm (70x70x70 assembley size) image at the highest settings, including the rendering of 'transparent' materials takes about 4-5 hours, yet only produces a 72dpi image. I'm using Wildfire 4.0 MO92, Schools Edition. Ultimately I'd like to produce images that are at least 300dpi, so: A: can I increase the output resolution size (in dpi)? B: is it possible to export .spl file extensions, so as to import into 'Blend'? C: Is anyone currently running ProE across a Linux based Beowulf Cluster, particularly for the rendering exercise? I downloaded and installed ProE without a problem, but when I try to run the software, I get a window that says that there is a license request host error and the load ceases. What gives? Roy
