We want to start inserting QR tags in our paper documents to provide an online link to them. Do we need to mess around with inserting a PNG file into the document or does anyone know if Arbortext has specialized support for QR tags?
Hello,I have experimented with creating PDF bookmark entries.Arbortext Editor truncates the length of the bookmark entriesafter 65 characters. There is no difference, if the PDF bookmarks are automaticallycreated or created by the stylesheet (Direct PDF feature).Does anybody know how to change this behavior? Is this a feature or known bug?ThanksJürgen SchnurrTechnische Dokumentation--
Today's Service Lifecycle Management and Arbortext sessions theme has been around poor service performance. Everyone has a poor service experience. If you want to start a conversation at lunch tomorrow with the person sitting next to you bring it up. Service experiences can be a great conversational starter. Whether it is your car being maintained and serviced, appliance being fixed or maybe you sat on the tarmac for one minute too long due to the door being stuck (ok that is happening to me a lot lately). The first thing I learned in marketing 101 is if your customer is happy they will tell one person if they are unhappy they will tell a minimum of eight. That was 17 years ago when social media didn't exist. Now they just tweet it and it goes to hundreds, maybe thousands. What is the cost of poor service experience to the company? Poor customer satisfaction when they lose faith in their investment and the ability to maintain and service their product. Is the measurement loss in brand va

Hello!I created two types of hatching in the file "Hatching_new.iso". One of them is "Type 1" - copied from the template file "DefaultHatchings.iso" in Arbortext IsoDraw 7.1 M070 (located on the path: C: \ Program Files \ PTC \ Arbortext IsoDraw 7.1 \ Program \ Patterns), a second type of "Type 2" - created new and, thus, does not work. Why is hatching "Type 2" does not work properly when hatching a closed object?
Hi I would like to know if any one has attempted to come up with a ROI template for using arbor text in structured authoring? I would really appreciate if we can discuss and share information related to this topic.RegardsGladstone
Hi!I am a new user with ISODRAW 7.2, and will direct a project that will transfer the existing technical manuals using Arbortext editor 6.0 (with styler)The organization have just begun using Windchill for the technical documentation regarding CAD.Now it is my turn to implement the manuals. So, will i need additional software/add-ons to create a manual with the iSpec 2200-standard of ATA?What are your thoughts and recommendations?RegardsLars
I have a legacy application that consists of stylesheets for the following:- Editor environment- XSLT for HTML output used by an IETM viewer- XSL-FO for PDF generation used by a 3rd party applicationCurrently all of these stylesheets have been developed independently, but should be kept consistent. The HTML output uses a lot of Javascript to manage some fault isolation steps. The Javascript hides the branches not taken during the isolation process; rather than showing a bunch of steps with links to the correct next step (as would be shown in the Editor while authoring). The same steps in PDF are actually rendered via SVG to produce flow charts. These stylesheets are for S1000D data modules, so they are a bunch of individual topics that are then organized as a publication. Currently the PDF is generated by the 3rd party application because it is used to organize the content and bring it together as a single XML file (from SGML data modules).I'm thinking about refactoring all these styles
Hi,Can someone help in getting rid of the issue/warning I am running with? Anyadvice is welcome.Assumptions:
Just wondering if there is a way to tell where a topic is used? Would a CMS tell us which dita maps contain certain topics, if we needed to search for a specific one.eg If we reuse a parts list and illustration from a parts catalog in an instruction, and then update the parts list and illustration in the parts catalog, how will we know that the kit instruction also needs to be updated?ThanksBryon
One of our illustrators has asked if I can put a macro to a function key so he doesn't have to keep picking the macro from a toolbar.I can't find anything that says function keys can be set manually, so just hoping someone knows different.
One of my clients might need an S1000D expert (which I am not) for a production project.Any developer(s) out there who would be available as a contractor for the work? Note that this is just an inquiry about an inquiry, and the timing is unknown.Unless other Adepters really want to know about this, you can reply privately to me.Thanks!Suzanne NapoleonSuzanneNapoleon@FOSIexpert.com."WYSIWYG is last-century technology!"
Here's my structure (Styler 5.4):<condtinsp><inspection><condition></condition><req></req></inspection><inspection><condition></condition><req></req></inspection><inspection><condition></condition><req></req></inspection><inspection><condition></condition></condtinsp>I want to number the condition tags but only if they have content (they have no title so making them a Formal Block didn't help) with the XPATH count(../preceding::condition) + 1I created a content test condition for the XPATH on <condition> in Styler so only the non-empty conditions are numbered, but the counter is incrementing on the empty conditions. So the first three numbered <condition>s are numbered 1, 9, 10 because there are 8 empty conditions following the first numbered one.I don't know how to keep the empty <conditions> from incrementing the counter, or if th
We have a numerical index being generated, but the numbers are in sequential order sort of. We have a mixture of 4, 5, 6 digit part numbers the 6 digit numbers are listed first in sequential order, then it displays the 5 digit numbers in sequential order, then it displays the 4 digit numbers in sequential order, then it does the few alphabetic entries that are in it. Where do you change it, or can you even change it? In styler I have found the indexes tab, and from there checked out the formating tab. I did not see anywhere to make these adjustments. I also found sfe:indexAlphaGroup_Main_Index, also did not see anywhere to make these adjsutments.
Hey everybody...We are looking forward to PlanetPTC Live 2012 in a few weeks, and hope you are, too. We’ll have lots to talk about, share, and showcase. I hope you’re attending, and if so, I’d love it if you could come up and say “hi!” to me while I’m there (look me up on Community to see what I look like, and send me a note, too).I’m also writing to see if you are interested writing up a short article while at the event. We’re not looking for long narratives (though that’s OK) - just some customer reactions to the keynote events, what you think about the Product Updates + Roadmaps, what you’re learning while at the event, or a great connection you made via one of the many networking opportunities. You can even use it as a way to take notes on your sessions – a dual win (plus a digital record to justify why you should attend next year). If you are interested, head over to this post to learn more and contact me.Thanks!-Alan
Currently Arbortext and ACM fail to update the dependent topics contained in a DITA map or DITA bookmap to the latest version in the content management system if other users have updated a dependent topic since the last time the current user has opened that topic themself. This seems to be a failure to adhere to at least the spirit of DITA, if not an full-fledged failure to support the standard.Users should be able to open a DITA bookmap and select File > Update Object and have an open to have all dependent objects updated, as well.

How to use CSDB6.0 to create two SNS tree When I create a second MI, error, content is:" can't find a class TDlgNewModleID"
Can I get some +1s?Maybe you haven't seen it yet. But when you display a solution, a dialogpop-up appears OVER the solution. You can "minimize" it so just thedialog's title bar shows. You can't move it. It obscures the content of thesolution. Argh! You *can* scroll the solution up and down "under" thedialog to see the content.Annoying. I am currently filling out every dialog with "MAKE THIS GO AWAY"or some such. I should probably be more Zen and find a productive approach, but well, I'm not feeling it yet.The truth is, I normally feel very generous to PTC Support and often willtake post-case surveys or complete questionnaires. I would happily completethis one, honestly, if it would display in an area that didn't obscure thevery content I'm trying to read. Or better yet display when I try to leavethe page either by navigation or by closing the window.-- Paul Nagai
As you may have seen in a previous post, I just moved my print license to support Epic 6.0. I always LOVE application updates. This is no exception. I took a file I know was working and printing in Epic 5.4 and tried to print it using Epic 6.0. Well lo and behold. It FAILED. A few (well more than a few) well chosen words on this. Same file, same style sheets file publishes in 5.4 and fails in 6.0. Seems there are one or more tables whose width exceeds some predescribed value. Of course the error does not specify which of the tables is the culprit. Back to the drawing board. So folks be advised there are some deltas between 5.4 and 6.0 that may cause printing issues. 😞Lynn
I have an older license (grandfathered thank heaven) for print composer with my 5.4 (and previous) installations. I now have to do some testing of print output using Epic 6. Does anyone know if I install the Epic 6 print composer license how it will impact my 5.4 license? Typically I am allowed one fixed and one portable license with each license. As most of the work I support still is in support of 5.4 users. I am hesitant to make the switch if I lose my 5.4 functionality. Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lynn
I see a lot of interesting macros for IsoDraw in the discussions that I would like to try out, however I don't know how to get them to show up in the macros menu.Does anyone know how to add macro files or copy and paste the macro text from a discussion on here in to IsoDraw? Thanks!
