I am using IsoDraw 7.1, I am creating Hotspots in my graphics. We import our graphics into SGML files. We need to have the ID for the hotspot to be a number, when I try to edit the ID in the object info dialog box it will only allow me to make changes to a number if I proceed the number with an underscore. It appears that it wants a text string in that block. Is there a way to allow a number to be inserted into the ID block without the underscore? Also I have found that in the object info dialog box for the hotspots I see a selection "$datastring", in this datastring there is a location reference to x1,y1, x2 y2. I am having a problem in figuring out where these x,y numbers reference locations are. Does anyone have any idea what these x,y coordinates reference? Thanks for any and all helpKeith
Adepters:We had to rebuild our PDF server due to some OS problems and subsequently had to return our license and request a new one (the server code changed after the rebuild). I've opened a serious call with PTC as after I turned in the old license, it won't give me a new license. Furthermore, it appears from their list that it would be giving me a floating license, rather than a fixed license. We've always used a fixed license, but I can't get the license server to give me any kind of license.Anyone else had problems getting a license recently? We're using PE 5.3 M190. So far I haven't heard a peep from PTC in regards to my open case.Dave HintzSiemens
S1000D issue 4.0 introduced the learning Capability Package (CP) module. The general idea was to create a method for collecting CSDB objects into an single document for transfer to another system for creating SCORM compliant training material. The S1000D CP schema contains structures for including Single Content Objects (SCOs), which is a re-usable object used in SCORM for containing things like questions. However, since the SCO is embedded in the issue 4.1 CP, they are not reuseable in S1000D.Issue 4.1 is rectifying the SCO reuse issue by introducing a new SCO module and removing the structures from the CP. The CP will reference SCO objects. However, the new CP, in common with the 4.0 CP, does not support things like role-up rules, sequencing and objectives that are inherent to a SCORM CP.Although S1000D's intention does not require the need to create a fully SCORM compliant CP, how useful do people think the S1000D CP will be for developing training material given the lack of these f

Hi, all...Is there a way to tell Arbortext 5.4 to insert relative paths instead of absolute paths into the href when inserting an image into a DITA topic?ThanksSteve FogelOracle Corporation
Does anyone know how to get to the Java Console in Arbortext 6? Helpimplies that Tools->Java Console would not be present if "liteui" wasenabled, but should show otherwise. Given that other menu items that wouldalso be disabled with liteui are present, and that liteui="off" in advancedpreferences, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't appear.thanks, keith
Hello all! I am a newbie to the Arbortext/IsoDraw environment, still in training. I have a question about graphics/images and what the industrybest practices are for handling sizing and resolution. Do you create one file and let the publisher DTD handle this or is this handled with style sheets? Or do you create a file for each output (web vs print)and give it an audience attribute? Is vector vs raster prefered? Where can I get information on this subject? This is a big gray area for me and since we are just starting to move to this platform, I want to make sureI'm on the right path. Any advice is appreciated.
Am trying to rotate an illustration in Isodraw with callouts so that I can import to Arbortext Editor. The problem is that although the illustraion is easily rotated the callout numbers remain the same. I could save the illustration in another format but then I will lose the intelligence in the callouts.

I'm not sure how much anyone can do to help me on this one. I came in from running some errands this afternoon. Sat down to do some more work and started up Epic. Prior to leaving, everything had worked just fine. I have a set of custom scripts that I run on start up. The first one is working. After that, I'm still trying to figure out what happened.Anyway, when I select the document type I want to work with (part of my customization). Epic does one of two things. It either totally shuts down, no error messages, NOTHING, just shuts down; OR it will show a message in the message line saying 'missing argument'. I've run these scripts for well over five years. I have occasionally enhanced the functionality, but all in all the basic precept has remained unchanged. I run the scripts from a network drive (mapped to the same drive letter) and I am having this problem on the two computers that have Epic. I am going to copy my backup files over just to see if something happened to the network d
Hello everyone,I have a very simple XUI dialog that is launched from ACL that consists of a dropdown control, a text field, an OK button and a Cancel button. When the user clicks the OK button, I need to perform the following tasks:call a web service using the two values identified by the usergrab the body of the web response and return it to the ACL module that launched the XUI dialogI assume the tasks shown above can be performed from javascript associated with the OK button. Has anyone done this before and can you offer any suggestions? I looked at the AOM javadoc and do not see any HTTP classes listed.Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.Regards,Tom
XLIFF and potentially XML:TM are both critical to maintaining control over your translations and avoiding unnecessary costs. Simply sending content through Trados is the least effective method you could pursue, since you will be at the mercy of the translation memory (errors, lack of updates, etc.).As the chair of the OASIS DITA Translation Subcommittee, I can assure you that the list of items you've created in your email is the right one to pursue. Whether or not Windchill supports any of this—I really couldn't say. If you can export a DITA map (if you're using DITA), you can convert the map to XLIFF and send one file to your LSP, rather than many. XLIFF should also work fine with DocBook files. Do read the MaxPrograms article about the process. We're getting ready to republish Rodolfo Raya's article through the DITA Adoption Technical Committee soon so it's an excellent source. In the best case, you would want to import your translated files, after you've recovered them from XLIFF, in
I am curious if there is a file size limitation with IsoDraw 7.1. I am trying to open a larger TIF file in IsoDraw. The TIF file is 36mb when I attempt to open the file I get a dialog box with the following error message; The memeory is full. Please close some windows or allocate more memory! (Then list the filename)I have closed all windows except for IsoDraw same results. I have tried allocating more memory, same results. I do not know what to try next. Here are the system specs: Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 4gb ram 250 gb HDD with 200 gb free space Video Card is ATI Radeon HD 2400 XTThe file appears fine I can open the file with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I can insert the file into AutoCAD 2008 with no problems. I have opened TIF files with IsoDraw before with no problems. The only thing I can think is there must be some sort of file size that IsoDraw can handle up to a certain limit.I appreciate any and all help with this problem. Thanks,Keith
Has M60 been relaesed and if so where can I find the relaese notes, trying to find anything on the PTC site is like looking for a needle in a hay stackThanks
Hello all, quick win7 question; I am testing an installation of 5.4 M080 on a VM slice running Win7. What I am seeing when I start Arbortext is the cannot locate DTD/Schemaerror on startup before the window loads. It's looking for"C:\Users\Public\Desktop\macros.dtd". I have my APTCUSTOM set to point to a server location. I tried settingAPTPATH to point explicitly at the install tree, but nothing seems toprevent the error. If I just select "Open in free-form" the window opens normally with noissues that I can see (we haven't been using macros, so I didn't trythem out). Anyone have an idea of what may be causing this? Thanks, -Jason
We recently upgraded Epic 5.1 to Editor 5.4 for our application. We noticed that when we edit an xml file, this generate a <fileName>.xml.cache file.Important: to edit our xml files, we use a website which downloads the xml file on the local computer. At the moment, we can not assure that this .cache file is generate by AEditor. It may be generated by the website.Does someone know if this file is generated by AEditor 5.4 ? If so, we are wondering about the use of this file. Where can we find some help about this ?Thanks.
Hi, everyone!I’m looking forward to Planet PTC Live! 2011 in a few weeks, and I hope you are, too. We’ll have lots to talk about, share, and showcase. I hope you’re attending, and if so, I’d love it if you could come up and say “hi!” to me while I’m there.I’m also writing to see if not only are you attending, but if you are attending – are you interested in blogging while at the event? We had a handful of customer bloggers last year (see that, and more, here:http://www.ptc.com/events/ptcuser10/ ), in addition to some industry analysts and PTC folks. My favorite posts, though, were from customers sharing your real reactions and perspectives on the event!I’m making that same request again this year. We’d like [...] (read the rest of this entry here)

Hi,I have a problem concerning the xpath functions within Arbortext Editor. I use a valid xpath to get the OID with the acl function xpath_nodeset(..) but I recieve a wrong oid when I use processing instructions (touch ups). This example should explain the problem:<?Pub _font FontColor="#c61515"?> <ROW> <CELL COL="1" TYPE="HEADER">Datum der Annahme des Beschlusses</CELL > <CELL COL="2"><DATE ISO="20100506">6.5.2010</DATE></CELL> </ROW><?Pub /_font?>With the function xpath_valid("(/ROW/CELL[2]") I receive true (1) but when trying to get the OID of this cell I have to use _font in my XPATH expression. But this should not act like this. The processing instruction is handled by Arbortext like a XML tag. xpath_nodeset($arr, "/ROW/CELL[2]") should return the OID of the cell and not xpath_nodeset($arr, "/_font/ROW/CELL[2]")!Does anybody had the same problem or should I use a other function? I used the latest Version of Arbortext Edit
Good Morning!Haven't seen anything even close to this one:Most of our DTDs have a significant portion of their content in entities (in some cases, all but the root element). This promotes, of course, the use of the same structure for a given purpose across all doctypes. Our problem is, when we deliver data, we deliver a copy of the then-current doctype DTD as well. This means someone must gather up copies of all the needed entities, as well as the main doctype file. That has proven to mildly error-prone.We tested using Architect or Editor to flatten the entities ('doc_flatten all'), but without success. The former has no Command Line in the requisite window, and the latter insists on loading a DTD as an ASCII file, in which case 'doc_flatten' has no effect.Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks in Advance,Steve ThompsonTAD TechnicalBoeing-IDS Technical Publications+1(316)977-0515MC K83-08The truth is the truth even if nobody believes it, and a lie is a lie even if everyone believes it.NOTICE: This comm

I need to add the facility to post the latest issue at the footer per page as opposed to per section/chapter within a manual. The issue is taken from a change element's issno attribute value. As there may be several changes per page, I need to get the latest change for each page. If a page has not been changed, it retains issue 1 in the footer.I know this has not been possible with Editor in the past as the issue number could not be resetfollowing the up issued page as there is no way of determining page end; the latest issue just ran on to subsequent pages until the next issue changed it.Does anyone know whether this has now been resolved so that changes per page can easily be supported ?Thanks,Andy
So far, nothing show-stopping, although I do not have my license yet, butmore on that in a moment. Let's face it. All license management is, at best, annoying. At the other end of the extreme, it is torturous. FlexLM issomewhere in between ... probably closer to annoying than tortuous, butfurther from anoying thanThe new flow is this:Install Editor (I haven't quite gotten there on PE yet).Start Editor (no more License Administrator).Get a licensing error dialog that contains your "host ID" (equivalent as faras I can tell for the old Server Code).
