Is there an easy way to reduce the text size for translations. We currently use 10 for English and was thinking about 8 for translations. Is this common practice? Thanks Bryon
I have a 2500 page document that is taking 6 hours to generate. It's a custom bookmap with maprefs to topicrefs. I have 2 issues: The length of time it takes to generate the PDF:Is there a way to break up this document and still get a full index with correct page numbers? The styling of the index is messed up halfway through the index. We have been generating individual indexes for each document and the index looks good. Once we compiled the full book/PDF, the styling was all messed up. Our deadline to finalize content is next week. Note we have approx 142 topicrefs, broken down into approx 20 maprefs. Also, note, we used PE 7.0 to generate the PDF. I am currently testing with Styler to see if there's any improvement. Can anyone help or offer advice on how to handle this large document or why the styling of the index is all messed up. I am attaching a screenshot of the index. I can live with the 6 hour performance, however, I really need to fix the s
Hi, I tried to run activation file but kept getting the error “All subprocesses are currently busy”, even though we set the configurations according to the instructions we were given for replacing APP-E with APE as well as configurations in Tomcat 8.5 We don't have other subprocesses, as far as we know, so we aren't sure what's wrong.
Hello everyone, we are looking at creating an online help system. The web output from editor is not really useful so far. Looking for some guidance of what we should be looking for. Also looking for examples of what you have done. We are using the TIA application and the Simonsoft CMS for our content management. Thanks Bryon

When creating tables it seems that there is some excessive padding in the table above and below the text. Where do I look in styler to adjust. I expect it is entry that I want to adjust, but what do I adjust? Bryon

Hi all, I have a Flex LM license server running and I need to export one of those licenses to an air-gapped PC. I have no idea what I am doing as the license guy was laid off. I can see we have LMTOOLS running on the server and it shows FlexLM server for PTC. I also see a borrowing tab but it does not seem to give me a license file that I can use. I click Borrowing, I leave Vendor Name: All, I set a return date/time, and hit "set borrow expiration". But where would I get the license key that I need? Users of ArbortextEditor: (Total of 15 licenses issued; Total of 4 licenses in use) "ArbortextEditor" v8.0, vendor: ptc_d floating license
Presented by Single-Sourcing Solutions Inc. In this session, we discuss some of the factors that compel forward-focused companies and consultants to make the leap to XML. You will learn what XML is, how it works, and how you can move from the trap that is desktop publishing into a flexible, dynamic structured authoring environment with ease. By the end of our talk, you will be able to comfortably answer the important questions: Why should you make the transition? How can you make the transition? And, when is the right time to make the leap? Registration URL: https://ptc.zoom.us/webinar/register/3116191140212/WN_XHp05BVhRgyfm3ls1wrjpQ

Recently had to reinstall Arbortext on my workstation and it seemed like the installation went well until I tried to preview a document in Editor. It never gets past the second page while formatting before just not doing anything else, it doesn't freeze or lock up, just isn't doing anything. Verified that the xmls work on other workstations. I don't see any noteable differences in my settings compared to other workstations. Not sure if anyone has run into an issue like this before and would know what to look for.

As was previously announced, the support for SOAP requests in Arbortext Publishing Engine is deprecated. We expect to remove SOAP support in the release that is currently planned for October, 2021.
My illustration looks great in IsoDraw, so I export it to WebCGM 2.1 for downstream processes. It looks great in the downstream process, but if I import the .cgm file back to IsoDraw it is missing line colors, line weights, leader-line halos, and area colors to name a few.
I trying to upload a newly created Arbortext document to Windchill and I'm getting the error "AutoNumber Action Failed Number of conflictsfound:1 :Incorrect or nonexistent Type category "WCTYPE|wt.epm.EPMDocument|@softtypeprefix@.DynamicDocument|@softtypeprefix@.commonsection" using the function " but others using the same system are not. I'm quite new to Arbortext so any help is appreciated. Thanks
Hello everybody, I'm completely new to this community - so hello to you. 🙂 So I guess, all postings have to be in English, don't they? I wasn't successful in getting support for Arbortext. So if anyone has a concrete URL I still would be grateful. The question I have is if there is a charge free trial version of Arbortext. Have a nice day, Thomas
Currently, in my environment, enhanced completeness checking (which includes Schematron) only runs when the user manually runs the "cc" command or selects Completeness Check from the menu. We would like Schematron to be continuously validating the content in the Editor in real time. Another option is to "force" a Completeness Check upon save or close, but because we are using a third party CCMS with its own Arbortext ACL programming in custom/init and scripts, we feel it is too risky to rewrite the save and close aliases ourselves to force the completeness check. Unfortunately, this is necessary because some of our tech writers cannot seem to get in the habit of following process and running "cc" before checking content back in to the CCMS. Any ideas? Thanks! PS: We are running Arbortext Editor v6.0, but we should be on v7.1 by year end.
I made a stylesheet that was a copy of an existing, working stylesheet. I copied the modules, and, using the Organize Modules button, I removed the old modules and added in the new copied ones. I made no other changes, saved the stylesheet, and closed it. Then, when I try to re-open the stylesheet, I get the following error: ERROR: Stylesheet includes module 'Engineering Style Sheet' (C:\PTC\custom\doctypes\Engineering\Engineering_ditabase.style) multiple times in module hierarchy. The stylesheet module hierarchy may have been invalidated by other stylesheets that are currently open and share common modules with this stylesheet. I looked through the modules in Notepad and can't find any reference to my stylesheet in them. I've tried duplicating this stylesheet a few times and keep getting the same error. I was able to successfully duplicate one previously. Is there anyway I can fix this problem? Or perhaps does somebody know where I'm going wrong?
STC India Virtual Event| March 20th at 3:30 India Time Presentation: Using DITA/XML for authoring content, an introduction - by Denis Dublineau Registration: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd5rGzc6VMWUmh-dGGOBWycc0_GHLfG7iVjy2mJKLR8tm9ZWQ/viewform OASIS DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) has become one of the most commonly used documentation standard. But more than a document specification, DITA is an “Architecture” (the “A” in the acronym) and a methodology for defining how information shall be structured and managed. This introductory session will describe the concepts behind DITA and its impact on the publishing process. What are XML and DITA? Where is this technology coming from? Why is Darwin involved in What is the benefit of using XML and DITA? What is the impact on the authors?
Many companies are looking for optimizing XML publishing capabilities to better support their customer needs. More and more product related documents, in different formats, with a variety of layouts, are needed. We have use jt files that are exported from SolidEdge. We open our pre sized template and place one or two JT files on the standard layer in isodraw. We then adjust the models as required, convert from 3d to 2D, scale and move it to fit on our template. Then if we convert back to 3D sometimes the models are at axis in the image not at the one that it was on before 2d'ing it. We also have issues where going back to 3D the model goes back to being the original size not the scaled size. We have tried to do all our scaling in the 2d environment. If you have any suggestions that would be great. Thanks Bryon
