Hi All I am working on setting up life cycle states that fits the retirement and disposal process in my organisation. We have customer commitments, after we have decided to retire a product, and therefore, I am looking for states which can show that these products are going to be retired after the service/spare part period.Today the state is "just" Released until the service period is done and thereafter the part is closed down. I would like to be able to inform users in Windchill that these parts should not be included in new designs or at least you should consider the consequences if you do use it.However I cannot find any OOTB states that supports the retirement process. How are you handling the process in your organisation and which states are you using?

Hello guys.Hopefully I am hopening pandora's box 🙂I guess there are only two schools.One who never revise and systematically create a new partnumberAnother who always try to revise (but if the change impact various product differently then they may "split" the design and create a new partnumber)I am from the second school. If after the impact analysis all the impact references can accept the change, then a new revision is created. If, for sake of argument, a part is used in 100 assemblies, and for 20 of them we cannot accept the change of the part, then we create a new part. Then depending on the effort, the new part will be used in the 20 assemblies while the other 80 will get the new revision of the original parts.I really do not understand the first school. It requires a lot more efforts. With Windchill constantly creating new folders for vaults it seems a bit difficult job for the back up team. We have the vaults mounted on Linux. Windchill version is 10.1 M040. Please list the tools / stratagy you are follow for backing up Windchill vaults. Also would appreciate suggestions on how to manage the growth of the vault size in terms of folder architecture.

Is it possible to export a bom configured to suit a simplified representation from CREO?

Whenever I try to import an FTA diagram from my Diagram Library into a system file, I get the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I have searched the reference guide and haven't found any mention of this particular error. I know it's also a general Windows error, so a Google search wasn't helpful, either.Does anyone know what is causing this error? I can provide more details if need be.

I find the amount of un-referenced files in our vaults gradually increasing, I took a week off and came back to find the disk almost full.I can remove them easily enough but I thought 'Automatic Cleanup' should remove them, the docs talks about creating a rule in the Automated cleanup of replica vaults window?  "For replica vaults, you can select or clear the Automatic cleanup of older content checkbox. When this checkbox is selected, automatic cleanups are performed on this vault according to the rules and schedule that are specified in the Automated cleanup of replica vaults window." Where is the window?

I'm looking for a way to get sub-parts of gathering parts rolled up on the single-level BOM.  Currently, if I run the single level BOM report on a structure that contains gathering parts, the sub-components of the gathering parts are brought up 1 level to show in the single level BOM, as expected.  However, when the structure has multiple gathering parts and those gathering parts have sub-components that are the same, such sub-components show as separate lines in the single level BOM report. Example...  The structure has two gathering parts that are hardware stack-ups of screws with washers.  Both gathering parts utilize the same part number of washer.  When the single level BOM report is run, the washers appear twice on separate lines.    I tried the single level consolidated report.  It gets closer to the result I am looking for, but doesn't allow usage information such as find numbers to be displayed. Is there a repeat region parameter to show what sheet an assembly component is on?So, basically I will have the main assembly on sheet 1 then all sub-assemblies and components of the main assembly will be on other sheets. I would like to have a table cell of the repeat region on sheet 1 to show what sheet the assembly components are on. Is this even possible?Thanks

We have a few assemblies where it is desirable to assemble native Creo files in Solidworks. Solidworks 3d interconnect supports this Windchill does not. Are there any workarounds to still manage this data using Workgroup manager?Any other possibilities such as Packages?

Looks great. How then can they be added to Details page? Nothing is ever easy with Windchill.  And that even comes to workflows.  I have a custom Change Activity workflow.  It has multiple paths that have different approvals and tasks.  So I created their own workflow templates and inserted them as processes in my Change Activity workflow.  Inside of these workflows there are some common tasks, like "rework".  So I created a workflow template for rework and put it in as a process in the different workflow templates.   Everything works fine until I re enter the workflow process inside the Change Activity workflow if I had already done the rework process.  If I had already done the rework process before, it sets it to Terminated and if rework is selected again, it goes into neverland and says that the first sub-process is running without errors.  If I do not go to the rework process and come back into the first sub-process, it doesn't do that.  It also doesn't do it for a process where I push a

Can anyone provide some insight on how you work with O&C. We define most options as 'required option' and 'single choice selection' but also create a choice 'without xx' even if we do not have any bom elements connected to the 'without xx' choice.Any other way makes us fail to filter out the correct Variants.

Hi, we have implemented a custom Odata Rest Endpoint. I want to return http status code 201 Created when an object is created and the status code 200 when an object is updated via post request. I couldn't achieve it by setting the boolean variable setCreated on the ActionResult that is returned. Does anybody have an idea? Thanks in advance.
