Windchill

I am fairly new to customized company Standard Profiles (and license profiles), but have been learning how important they are, and how many issues arise, esp. in WC12.   Does anyone know if and where there is the documentation for the different categories that are listed? Some of them are self-explanatory, while others are not, especially if I am not familiar with newer functionality, or the extent of the things it can affect, or if it is just ambiguous.  E.g. "Remove" (which remove?), "Use Creo Data Management & Visualization WGMs", "Move Choice", "Windchill PDF Collaboration", "override name", etc Note I did look in the WC Help, searched some of the terms (with and without quotes) and didn't find documentation on these categories. We want to understand which Windchill DB column has Maturity History table information?We tried with lifecyclehistory, wtchangeissue(any change management objects) and objecthistory. we are not able to get it. We only get lifecycle history or revision history information.We need REVISION, PROMOTED ON, STATE, PROMOTED BY columns from maturity history table.

As I prepare to upgrade another Windchill system next week (2 of 3), This system has some users who are no longer here. I can get their username and set the password to allow me to log into their accounts. Once in, I can delete all files (and empty workspaces) that have been checked in. New files I will work with managers on getting them checked in. My concern is for those infrequent users who may have created a workspace, downloaded files and then did nothing. Is there a way to obtain the names of all workspaces and the users they are assigned to from an SQL query that someone can share with me? If not SQL, is there a report that can be run for listing what I need?

I am not able to export data from PTC Windchill Risk and Reliability via creating Windows Task Scheduler. I am using PTC Windchill Risk and Reliability application as I am not admin of that application.   Our IT team created one system in PTC Windchill Risk and Reliability with many data fields as per business requirement. Daily we are importing records in that system.   Now I want to export all records daily to check for any issues. Hence, I have created Task Scheduler which will export all data on daily basis at specific time but it's not working. I tried to create task scheduler in different ways but still it's not working.   When I was searching that Task Scheduler file, I found log file(which is from Server side not Client side) when task scheduler ran. In log file, I found that I don’t have enough permission for that system and check with your PTC Windchill Risk and Reliability administrator for assistance.   Does any one know what causing this issue? Can you link a Windchill folder to the Creo "common folders" area.

Is there a way to print or export general information shown in the tables within Windchill? For example, I have a Change Notice within Windchill and I want to print the comments information shown within the Process Status Table.

We are looking implement a solution where the enumerated list for an object's attribution changes based off the context that the object is created within. Currently cascading attributes seem to be limited to custom attributes on the object and a couple of other out of the box fields. Does anyone know if it's possible to have context appear as an option on the new cascading attribute list? fyi - We're using version 12.0.1.0

MAPSB helped needed. How we intend to use MAPSB. We have an eBOM in As Designed view. We have common Standard headwear and COTS items that are only in mBOM view of Staged. When transforming an eBOM for manufacturing, we will duplicate and propagate the entire assembly. COTS and Standard Staged view will be copied over to the mBOM. eBOM As Designed parts will have a Staged equivalent created.   Before we started using mBOM and MAPSB we used a "Modeled" view for eBOM now that PTC has fixed the issue with CAD changes overwriting BOM changes we had no reason to maintain a engineering Modeled view and a BOM manger view of As Designed so converted all single view Modeled parts to As Designed.   In MAPSB we see that a view (As Designed) in the Upstream has a downstream equivalent Objects. Some parts show an identity of part # (As Designed) with latest downstream of part # (As Designed) with upstream of Modeled. If we look at that part it only has As Designed (looking at History

This is a documented limitation in Windchill under CS163692. I still need a way to remove the grouping when passing the exported BOM to other PLM systems. Anyone have a cute trick in Excel or Windchill that would convert the group of C1-C3 to C1, C2, C3?

I've read the help and old posts from 2013 on this topic. I can see that this uses the old template processors and the developer is 8 years retired to Shangri-La. So who here has mucked with this? Users are asking for some basics for both workflow task emails and notification emails: Put PBO number in email subject Remove unneeded attributes from email body (who cares who created Product area) Pass more attribute detail in body of email like workflow attributes.  Windchill help has this confusing verbiage about "Subject" templates. What the heck is that? Does this pick a template based on the task name? Who wrote this? Lastly, is there a complete listing of all possible methods that can be called? It might be worth it to extend it and add more custom methods for more functionality. Windchill 11.1 BTW.

In my Change Request process for a document approval the "Outside Approval Process" task was accidently "Completed" and it went to the next step "Create New Change Notice".  How do I bring it back to the "Outside Approval Task"?

Hello, I cannot check out instances of a family table from Creo. When I open Windchill embed browser, I cannot check out none of the items if I use "check out object" icon from top of the page. But looking at the "Actions" column, for these items that have "check out: icon, I can check them out. Those items have "In work" state. For those that are in "Creation" state, I have to change the state ti "In work" to make "check out" icon appeared in "Actions" column and them check them out. I totally cannot understand the reasons. Thank you in advance for any help.

Hello everybody, I'm trying to retrive some global enumerated value of WTDocument from the Windchill 11.0 M030 database with a SQL query.   I used the queries of https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS174022 but what i can get are just the Internal values of the attributes, not the Display values. (column NAME of [LWCEnumerationEntry])   Which table contains the DISPLAY Value of the enumerated attributes?   How these attributes values are linked to the objects (eg WTDocument) ? I can see the stringValue linked to the object, but again it contains the internal value and I need instead the display value.   Can you point me to a datamodel documentation that covers this topic?   Thank you

Anyone out there implemented WVS upgrades for Windchill? We are currently at 11.1 M020 CPS19 and we're considering a WVS upgrade from the originally certified version of 5.0 to 8.0.   Definitely should have considered this upgrade sooner, but now that we're so far behind, I'm curious if anyone has experience with what all the new features are going from 5.0 to 8.0 and are there any major changes to WVS that will impact how we are using it today? 

Does anyone know of a way to retrieve the target values a user enters into the rename GUI before any of the rename events finish?  We're running into a problem where we can't see what the new filename is until after the number change is already complete.  We need to know if the filename is going to be changing, and if so what its new value will be, before we decide whether or not to let the number change proceed.  Since separate events are being fired for name, number, and filename, it seems like it's impossible (from just these events) to tell in advace what is going to be changing.  Instead of just looking at the object passed by these listeners (EPMDocument, etc.) is there some way to get all the data that was actually submitted by the user on the rename form, before any of the rename events actually finish?   Rename dialog:   Event listener order depending on what is being changed:  

Does anyone have a process for mass modification of context Teams [Roles along with the groups/individuals assigned] and product/library access control rules (ACR's)? The modification must include deletion of existing Roles and ACR's. A simple way to view this is applying a new product template to an existing product replacing the existing Team and ACR's. I did not see a way to delete existing Roles or ACR's using LoadFromFile, but I admit it's not a tool I'm very familiar with using.   Can the Windchill Bulk Migrator export an existing product and re-import it back into the same system using a different product template?   Regards, Dan N.

Hellois there any one who has evaluated Sharepoint vs Windchill for document management for a pure capability point of view.eg. Windchill can pass parameters directly into Word, I was told by a sharepoint consultant this is not possible.Same thing with document structure.I like to call sharepoint a file manager or an enhanced hard drive. Nonetheless, I have hard time to get Sharepoint users to accept that Windchill is easier, simplier more powerful.Sometimes the argument goes to. "I do not need to buy new licences for new users for Sharepoint but I would need to for Windchill, so even if there are advantages it is not worth the cost"....Is there anyone who has close a Sharepoint site to migrate to Windchill ? What was the argument for this ?I am trying to sell Windchill has something much more than just supporting engineering. Managing documentation is an activity for all departments and functions.
