For Schematic we are using Mentor/Siemens DxDesigner and for Layout Xpedition. We use also the Variant Manager within Mentor. With this we can set parts to no-load or change them in different assemblies. As these informations are not available in the edif export, they are not visible in Creo View. Therefore the request to change this and work together with Mentor for a better database.
I have been unsuccessful in finding documentation for the file types that the Publishers in WC can READ and publish FROM. Can anyone direct me to a list of file types? For example, I'm looking to expand on the following list: All Creo Files (.asm, .prt, .drw, etc) MS Office files (.docx, .xlsx, etc) SolidWorks files (I think...) The second part of this question is what file types can CreoView read (I found some here but doesn't seem comprehensive): .jpg, .ol, .plt, .pva, .pvm, .pvp, .pvs, .pvt, .pvz, .png (not stated in above documentation but works through testing) My biggest interest is in finding a file type to show a graph based on real data.
Hi everybody, I have already added the new type in wt.epm.EPMAuthoringAppTypeRB by the enumCustomize.bat. But I can't find the type in "New CAD Document" process. What should i do?
one of my user has issue while Adding objects to workspace, the workspace object collector window keeps loading for ever. tried clearing browser cache and restarting the browser and trying in new workspaces. No luck yet. Appreciate any leads on this issue. Using WC11 M30 Creo 6.0
We are trying to implement eMDR along with CEM in Windchill. However, since we installed QMS Surveillance and Corrective Action (General) initially instead of QMS Surveillance and Corrective Action (Med Device), we did not the eMDR types & its data model loaded in the system. When we now try to install Med Device, it still doesn't load the data model that we need though the installation seems to be successful. It is understood that we need to get rid of the QMS Surveillance and Corrective Action (General) module to get the eMDR types in. Does anyone have an idea of we can fix this? Any pointers would be of great help.
Hi All, I'm upgrading from Windchill 9 to 11.1 and I have a JCA / DataUtility customizion I want to convert using OOTB DataUtility ID inside Type and Attribute Manager, but it doesn't work. The customization consists in some soft attribute (eg: DocumentCategory_ETS) of a soft type (intra.elica.upgradesvil.ETS subtype of ReferenceDocument subtype of WTDocument) to be rendered as ComboBox. I followed all instructions and tips from Windchill help center and support cases. Following my code and configurations: 1) site.xconf <Property name="wt.services/svc/default/com.ptc.core.components.descriptor.DataUtility/ETSDataUtility/java.lang.Object/0" overridable="true" targetFile="codebase/service.properties" value="ext.elica.doc.datautility.ETSDataUtility/duplicate"/> 2) propagated value inside components.dataUtilities.properties wt.services/svc/default/com.ptc.core.components.descriptor.DataUtility

Hi, Just want to find out if someone has tried such customization before. We would like attributes to still be populated/edited from the Creo side but it should be read-only in the Windchill user interface. I have played around in Attribute manager but making settings read-only there then prohibits Creo from being able to save to Windchill. Appreciate your help. Thank you
Hi, I'd like to retrieve visualization of a product which has configurable components. As attached image showing, when I apply “nc“ navigation criteria, the visualization tab will refresh and show different visualization base on current filter. I need to know the Windchill API (or WRS) behind this. Anyone can help? Thanks a lot.
I am wondering where the practical limit of "document" management in Windchill is. How far do I take this? Right now, my visibility is to Engineering documents, numbered objects and project related data used in product development. Beyond the horizon, there is a whole nother set of documents generated in operations and supply chain. These can include in process build records, supplier material data, test runs, images, data extracts. Many times these could be PDFs, scanned paper, output files, Zips of files. I am not concerned with the number of files or the size of the files. I assume we can managed those limits. My question revolves around the benefits to just loading all data in PDMLink aligned with our projects and programs. Some of this data is not well organized so creation of a some auto numbering system would be needed. The goal would be to replace many folders and storage locations to make one stop for all data. The issue that is racking my brain is some of th
Windchill 11.1 m020 Can an existing CAD Worker also create thumbnails? As I currently understand it, CAD Workers create the representations, and by default, send that back to the Windchill Server to create the thumbnail. (Unless the configuration has been changed.) We currently have 6 CAD Workers (all Creo workers), and if my understanding is correct, all six are sending the representations back to the Windchill server to have thumbnails made. This is causing a backlog and needs to be fixed. So do thumbnail workers need to be created, or is there a setting or configuration to have the already existing CAD Workers create the thumbnails too? - marc

A Role Description change in a Context Team needs to be propagated to the workflow team SetUp Particpants tab. I change the Edit Role Description in the context team page for a Product. I am then creating a custom CR that uses a custom workflow in that Product. The new role description is not showing in the SetUp Participants applet for that instance of the workflow for that role. How does the context team map that information to the workflow team instance? When a role is added to a Product, Library, or Project a corresponding WTGroup row entry is made in that table. The role description field is one of the fields in that row. I can see the value in the field change after I alter it in the interface. The context team role stops using the resource bundle information at that point. Why does the workflow team that is created after the role description value change not use the updated information in the database field?
Hi ,In Windchill 10.0 M010, I am already created a WTPart inside Windchill. Now am creating a CAD Document with the same name of WTPart. But when i check in the cad document with out use Auto Associate option. But after check in the WTPart and CAD Documents are not associated. I read somewhere like if the names are same it will associate automatically.Whether i have to set any Preference for that???Thanks in advance..
I know this does not exist (Is there a recycler in Windchill) but I think it should. Short of a undo action or recycle bin, I was wondering if people achieved this in some other way. I can see adding an action which does a movement but does not actually delete. For example, you deny delete rights to users but they are allowed to do a custom action in its place which moves the object to a "to be deleted" folder which is hidden. Periodically, the admin clears the folder of the objects. Thoughts?
We've had several questions around these topics so I am uploading the slides from the 2015 PTC Live session. I will add the follow on videos.
Hi all, we will be using this post to publish the latest updates of the library of our recorded Navigate Expert Sessions. Expert Sessions are byte sized Technical webcasts (recorded and live) in which PTC SMEs share knowledge and best practices on topics related to design, development, deployment and operation of PTC software. They are directed to customers, and focused on improving customer adoption. Take a look at the last comment on this post to check the latest version of our library
Hello, I've spent some time working with a Windchill 11.2 instance and I've found the usage of Change Object Templates introduces a bit of a regression, at least for our use case. In previous versions of Windchill (11.0 and lower) the use of Change Object Templates was optional. In these prior versions there is a preference: Change Management -> Default Change Task Name Setting this preference allows you to create change notices with a default change task which generally saves user clicks. In Windchill 11.2 the system forces us to use Change Object Templates and removes this preference. This can cause a bit of a problem especially for those of us who have our change objects configured with mandatory attributes. When you create a new template this is essentially just an instance of your change object that lives in the Site or Org level. If you have additional mandatory attributes configured for your change object you cannot create a template without filling all m
I am creating a use case for MBE which connects creo, illustrate, thingworx and vuforia for which I would like to have windchill trail environment. are there a possibility to access PTC cloud windchill for 3 months of period to complete use case.
Is there a way to include Obsolete parts using Windchill's Import From Spreadsheet tool? I'm retroactively creating BOMs for old products that use Obsolete parts, and when I attempt to import the BOMs from a spreadsheet, I get this error message: "Sheet::BOM1 Row::[row] ChildNumber::[product number] is Canceled or Obsolete in the assembly. Please ensure parts are in other than Canceled or Obsolete status and attempt your load again." Working with hundreds and hundreds of BOMs, it would take a very long time to remove the Obsolete parts from the BOMs, upload them, and manually add the Obsolete parts from each parent assembly's Structure tab (which is possible to do without the Obsolete part error). More detail if helpful: I'm trying to create hundreds of Gathering Parts that include some Obsolete parts. I have a single BOM load spreadsheet with each Gathering Part as a Level 0 parent with dozens of Level 1 children, some of which are Obsolete. From the folder
Hi, This is a bit of a support question, but with so many people getting off Chrome due to the lightbox popup issue, I now have problems with Firefox not displaying the 3D thumbnail on details page for CAD and Parts and the Visualization panel in the PSB. The 3D thumbnail loads, but its immediately replaced with a gray color. If you RMB in the gray box, the 3D thumbnail will appear and spin, but as soon as you let go of the MMB, it goes back to gray. Weird. Thoughts? Work-around is to turn off 3D thumbnails in Preferences -> Visualization
Has anyone integrated with Deltek Costpoint lately? Costpoint is a project based ERP system for governement contractors. I would be interested in any information that can be shared on solution approach and implementation. Many Thanks Windchillers regards
Since Windchill 11, downloading a checked out content of a WTDocument puts the file in a ..\Checked Out subfolder of the proper context, whereas downloading the same document but not checked out puts the file in a subfolder equivalent to the subfolder of the context. So it may happen that someone has the same file twice in his local cache, what may cause incidents!! 😩 So, is there a way to avoid this? Our VAR found a property to go back to the pre-WT11 situation, but in that case, all the files are all in one big root folder, not according the context at all anymore. 😭 TIA, Hugo (and sorry if this post is a duplicate).
How to delete PreferenceInstance entry using PreferenceHelper.service.deleteWTUserPreferenceInstance(String arg0 WTUser arg1) which string should pass as argument ?
