Hi admins, I want to apply navigate_view_named_group and similar to users or user groups, but need to visit many screens to get this going. Is there a friendly introduction to this topic? thanks Rick

Hello everyone,   I'd like to ask for some modification in Visualization system in Windchill. We use "Latest" configuration in our organization and new job to WVS is added when user made check in of the part to the system. System automatically creates new representations for drawing of modified part and drawings of dependent assemblies. (even if they are not revised). 3D models representation of dependent assemblies don't change. We use these process only for drawings (PDF)   We want to set that: If user makes check in of some part, system creates new PDF for this part and for drawings of dependent assemblies but on these drawings are parts only in Released status.   Do we need make special customization or is it possible to use some available property?  

Perhaps somebody more experienced with Windchill can help me: We switched from another PLM system to Windchill and I learned, that the revisions of Items/Parts in a BOM are defined by Filter and can be different by user. Why??? Typical you build an assembly with special revisions of part and it should be able to add an old revision of a design part into a new assembly. But with Windchill not. Why??? Or how do you work with revisions?

I have just started testing Design Review functionality - aim is to manage the change of design in our company. Is there an option to expose the Design Review objects on a part page? I cannot find it on Customize ribbon. Is a piece of code needed? I would like to see on part page whether the part is resulting from a Design Review.

Hello all, hope you are well.   Do you know some advises to size the server for Windchill 12.0.0.0. In previews versions I used a document called "Hardware Sizing Guidelines" but I can not find something similar for 12.0.0.0 version.   Any ideas?  Thanks in advance for the help. Luis

Hi,   Just checking to see if anyone else has experienced this before.   I have mapped custom parameters in Creo to Windchill EPMDocuments and Part in the Type and Attribute manager.   Now, when I check in an assembly from Creo the corresponding attributes get created/updated on the CAD Document as well as the WTPart in Windchill.   However, when I check in a single part the corresponding attributes in Windchill only get created/updated on the CAD Document but all of the attribute values on the WTPart is blank.   In all previous experiences the mapping has always worked on both assemblies as well as single parts.   Anyone perhaps an idea of what I am doing wrong?   Appreciate the assistance.

I tried to export and import extensions from thingworx UI but on the target, I am unable to see the extensions in the extensions list. I have attached the procedure document that I followed to perform this activity. Can somebody look into it, if possible please share the article on how to export and import the extensions?

Hi,   I am looking for advice/direction on best practices when it comes to creating API Mappings and Services for custom mashups.  For example, is it best to create these on the ptc-windchill-OData- connector or somewhere else.  If created on ptc-windchill-OData-connector, what are the best practices in regards to import/export especially when moving from one version to another (e.g., 8.5.3 to 9.0)?   Any advice/guidance would be appreciated.   Thanks,   Roy

Hello,   I have installed Thingworx 9.0 instance and running an application. I have installed it manually without using installer. Based on requirements, I have to install Thingworx Navigate 9.0. when I'm trying to install navigate it's again asking me to install Thingworx foundation using installer. Is there a way to install Navigate without removing existing instance. The server is having only one drive so i can't use two instances also.   Any suggestions on this?>   -thanks, Abhiram

I'm able to create EPMDocuments through the API and through the EnterpriseHelper via a save-as but does anyone know the workflow to use when creating one from a Template stored in Windchill?   The API documentation looks like we need to do the following: 1. Call EnterpriseHelper.service.saveCopy(RevisionControlled original) 2. Edit any attribute values on the object that we want to change 3. Call EnterpriseHelper.service.saveFromTemplateObject(RevisionControlled original, RevisionControlled copy)   This workflow works and successfully creates an EPMDocument but it doesn't carry forward any of the data from the template.  All meta data fields are cleared and the content is not copied (but this is ok because we don't care about the content as we'll be uploading new content any way)   I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong or my understanding of the Java Doc is wrong but I can't find any other resources on how to do this. I want to automate a report so that when it is run by the user, it will automatically calculate the date to use.  Think of Change Notices and the need for a report to generate the results of Resolved CNs based off of the system date minus 30 days or even quarterly.  This should be something that one should be able to do in the criteria section.  If it can be done I haven't found it yet.  The ultimate goal is to be able to set up a data monitor for management that runs on different times to give them different results automatically.  Does anyone know how to do this or if it can be done?

I am trying to give 2 users at a remote site read-only rights to the data in Windchill. Is there a trick to this? I have them in a group that should only have RO access to all cad files and documents. They are in the context team Viewer and the ACL for Viewer participants shows Read, Download for their rights. When I tested by logging in as one of them, Windchill allowed me to create a new object in a folder. Any overriding ACLs that I need to look at?   Windchill 11.0 m030 CPS16

Has anyone created reports for analyzing data growth: Per container - object counts by type - master, revision, iterations Data Volume - file size (totals, not per file) Growth over time (per month or quarter) Ultimately we'll probably put this into a ThingWorx dashboard so we're also interested in any compelling visual representation of the information above.    Thanks for any suggestions or examples Jeff

With the release of Eclipse Theia, I see an opportunity.   Windchill system administration seems to be done by Engineers more often than IT Professionals or Developers. I am a Developer and an IT Professional (professional background in network administration, system administration, etc... educational background in software development) and have been working my colleagues to establish a configuration-as-code devops practice and pipeline for Windchill.   One of the initial hurdles is the environment setup (install an ide, like vs code, clone the repo, do work...).  When I saw Eclipse Theia was in development a couple years back, I was excited.  I was thinking this could be part of PTC's dev environment setup.My question to you all, has anyone actually set up Eclipse Theia on a Windchill install.  Or in an Apache environment in general?

Hi All, Current we are planning to define ACLs across the organization and for which we need to write a proposal document for the following: product container and library setup (what product containers +libraries should we have when do we decide to have a new product container or library should we ever hide/remove product containers how do we manage secret projects with containers Basically looking at best practice/examples for inspiration with a rough explanation of cost vs benefit of splitting out into lots of product containers Anyone out there who has already established such a setup in their organization and would like to share their experience and possibly a rough guideline on why and how it was established.   Awaiting eagerly to hear back from the community:) Regards, PRKAC
