Windchill

I have a customer who is working a lot with family tables and who is asking for some tips and tricks related to working in Creo. One thing that I was thinking of mentioning is using UDFs with family tables and referencing these in the part family tables. However, I'm hesitant to talk about this since the UDF needs to be in Creos UDF library to work. In my experience, if the UDF cannot be found in the library, Creo will not crash the part, but will simply not replace the geometry in the instance, meaning you get a part that looks like it worked fine, but has incorrect geometry.   I'm not working in Windchill, so I'm not sure how this is handled in Windchill. If I have a part with a family table that references a UDF family table, will I be able to make this work in Windchill if I just add the part to my workspace, make some changes and check it in? Will Windchill retrieve the UDF and put it in the UDF library? How does Windchill handle UDF:s?

Hello All, We removed the WTPart and CAD  - Association in the latest iteration Now WTPart has no Related CAD Object.Also, CAD has no Related WTPart Object.But on WTPart Structure tab >> WTPartObject, A.X(Design) >> Structure >> Viewing >> Show (My related object.) showing Cad Object and also in below 3rd view as CAD/Dynamic Document.. Is this normal behavior from the Previous associated CAD/WTPart iteration showing CAD in WTPart latest iteration structure view or its a bug..Thank you,RAHUL  

Does anyone know of documentation which specifically goes over Windchill PartsLink and Windchill ProjectLink? Going through the support site for documentation (actually using the dropdown menu and selecting each product) produces results for Windchill rather than PartsLink/ProjectLink.   I came across a User Guide for Windchill ProjectLink but it is for version 8.0 and dated from April 2006. Need something a little more up to date. Thank you

Hi,   I'am trying to create new report using report template which is available in windchill utilities. When i click on it, i get an error message saying, "A plugin is needed to display this content". Can anyone suggest me which plugin is required and where i can download it. We have created custom part search application in thingworx navigate which takes input as search criteria and get the results from windchill.Business needs to save this search criteria in navigate application as Saved searches so that user can search from saved searches.

while loading the xml files i am facing the following error. Help me out with this. Attached is the error file.  

  The /Windchill/tmp/wrmfTransport directory get deleted randomly. Tried to exclude that folder from antivirus analysis but in vain. Can someone help on this please?    

Hello,   I am implementing Windchill MPMLink (11.0 and above) at several customers at the moment, And there is a need to display custom attributes in the Work Instruction Illustrations.   I have noticed, that custom (Creo or PDM) attributes are not being copied to the Operation Viewable. I have attached a screen shot showing the available attributes for the same part. The behavior is the same for both Creo View and Illustrate representations.   I suggest that there should be an rcp file or some properties to control the behavior of operation viewable creation (i.e. the adapter/loadAttr=1 row of an rcp file).  Any idea where to look for a possible solution will be appreciated. Hello.   I would like to create a structure of standard documents when creating a product using a template in Windchill 11.1 M010. This is not part of Windchill functionnalities, and this is a bad point for us !   I have to find a workaround as our design process require some important documents that must but put into windchill for each product, and I know for sure my collegues won't do it or will forget some documents if I don't "force" them...   Did someone find a solution for this ? Basic customization is acceptable, or a workaround.   Thanks in advance.

Hi   We have a 2-node clustered Windchill as well as a 2-node replicated LDAP service in a lab environment. Below is a brief on services configured. Site01 Srv01 - Windchill, LDAP, HTTP Srv02 - Windchill, LDAP, HTTP Srv03 - Oracle Db Srv04 - CAD Worker + Main Vault Site02 Srv05 - Remote File Server with Vault, HTTP and probably local Worker for Site02 Windchill service in Srv01 and Srv02 are clustered and sitting behind a F5 load balancer, working fine. LDAP service in Srv01 and Srv02 are replicated and replication works fine.   We see there are 2 ways to configure LDAP in this environment as following; Let LDAP services sit behind a Load Balancer like F5 BIG-IP and configure LDAP in Windchill using virtual IP given by Load Balancer. This way we can take advantage of load balancing as well as failover on LDAP services. Also, every time a new node is added, changes only need to be made on LB instead of all application nodes as well as Remote File Servers. Configure

Customer has an environment configured with local file servers in multiple locations and one Master File server in Germany. They performed the following test:1. Set user vaulting preference to AUS FileServer2. Create a new Creo .prt, upload, and checkin3. Delete the Workspace + cleanup local Workspace cache4. Change user vaulting preference to SA FileServer5. Create a new Workspace, add the .prt, and retrieve it within Creo  THE CAD MODEL WAS SUCCESSFULLY RETRIEVED6. Hi, I've been looking into using packages to share our data externally with vendors and clients. I see in cs81396 a method for doing so.    I eventually worked out how to use xconfmanager to add the publishing engine   I have added the additional_file_type_publishrules into the site\utilities\visualisation configuration administration, but it just doesn't seem to work. Any help on this would be great. The sample xml files are not easy for me to follow.   I'd really like to get the system to publish step files if an part or assembly is in the lifecycle states of prototype, preproduction or production and also to produce 2d pdf's for the same states for drawings.  Thanks

Hello, I make a workflow inclue ad hoc activity. i can assign ad hoc activities to all users via orgadmin. But i can’t assign ad hoc activies to other users via regular user. When user tries to assign ad hoc activities to other users, receive "Secured Action. You do not have the necessary authorization for this operation. Contact your administrator if you believe you have received this massage in error". I attached the error screenshot.   I found out which policies cause the error. I have to make 2 rules to assign ad hoc activity.First one " wt.workflow.engine.WfAdHocActivity" grant "Read, create and modify".Second one " wt.workflow.engine.WfBlock" grant "Read, create and modify".I don't know what "wt.workflow.engine.WfBlock" rule let user do? Can anyone help me with my SQL query?   I have a query built that integrates several tables in order to report on workflow items and document lifecycle: WTUser, WorkItem, PDMLinkProduct,EPMDocument, etc I have a bunch of reportable information gathered, but I am missing one key piece - the date a workflow task was accepted. I have workflow created date, I have task completion date, I have the who and the what and the where, but I do not have workflow task accepted date.   We discovered that this information is stored in WfAssignmentEventAudit under .timestamp when .actionPerformed=Accepted, but I am unable to get this data table into my query successfully with a JOIN to WfAssignedActivity or or creating a subset, etc.   Any SQL experts out there willing to take a look at how to join up these related tables?

Hi,   We got a 2-node Windchill cluster environment and I need to give few developers access to logs. Windchill Logs Viewer only shows logs of currently connected application server. So, the questions are; Is there any way to move the location of logs from <wt_folder>\Logs to a shared network path so both application servers will write logs to this location instead of default location? If answer is yes, is it a good practice to do this?   Thank you,

I am able to define a specification of the product.   then, I have an issue when I try to create a variant part. (Action / Request Deliverables). Here is the requested deliverables message:   18 Jan 19 17:24* Deliverable "Bill of Materials (BOM)" failed; com.ptc.windchill.option.model.Choice cannot be cast to wt.part.WTPart Nested exception is: com.ptc.wpcfg.pdmabstr.CommunicationException: com.ptc.windchill.option.model.Choice cannot be cast to wt.part.WTPart     does someone already had this issue? could you help me to understand what this message means?   thanks in advance, Ronan

I installed CPS06 on Windchill PDMLink 11.0 m030 the other night and now Creo View will not launch on either my workstation or when remoted into the Windchill server. I get a new IE window with a 'Starting Creo View Client' across the top of the window, but that is all. I have verified that Creo View will start manually from its installation on both computers. It all worked fine before the CPS06 patch install.

Hi,   We are using one revisioning sytem for all parts.The custom made parts and the catalogue parts in Windchill. This is done to keep it simple in  Windchill. In our organization, out of Windchill, the costum made part receives an revision number according to our revision scheme. The catalogue part does not receive a revision number but only an itteration numberaccording to our itterartion scheme.   The organization has decided now to add a BOM table to the drawing displaying also the revision number.That is no problem for the custom parts but is a problem for the catalogue parts.Now a revision number is displayed in the BOM table for the catalogue parts too.I am looking for advice how to solve this.   Thanks in advance.   regards, Bert

I want to install windchill for testing, can I use SQL Server 2017 Developer?

Is there an easy way to save solidworks files out of windchill? When we have assemblies with parts and drawings we open each part and drawing etc individually and "save as" and into a folder on computer so we can send files to customers. Is there an easy way to save assm/parts/drawings out without have to do each file? thanks
