Windchill

Does anyone have any good resources for learning how to set up new Cognos reports for Windchill? There are some books out there, and I'm sure IBM has courses, but has anyone found any good resources that fit the Windchill niche need?   I keep getting asked for hierarchical reports starting from product structure and mapping down to models, drawings, and documents. I can try to hack at the multi-level bom report but was looking for more general training/information to actually use Cognos when Query Builder is unable to cope.

Hi,   Please refer the attachment for proper understanding. It has pictures for better description.   Current access options are:   No access – Prevents the user from selecting the item or using it. Modify – Allows a user to access an item, change it and then save it. Create – Allows a user to create new files. Delete – Allows a user to delete items in the system.   'Read' option should allow a user to access a property and change it but then not save the changes they have made. This would be exceptionally useful for ourselves with giving users a default table format view that they can modify but then are unable to save when they close the application, thus not affecting other users.   The current set up seems bizarre to go from no access at all, to being able to modify and save changes. There needs to be an intermediate level.   Thank you Mohammed

Hi All, I wanted to know what are the possible issues that will arise while upgrading windchill on RHEL? I have done multiple successful upgrades on Windows server but trying it on RHEL for the first time. I have experience working with RHEL and Windchill but never tried upgrading. If anybody has done Windchill upgrade on RHEL please let me know if you have faced any issues during upgrade.

 Sort functionality on Test Specification Editor table in FlexPLM      Currently, there is no way to sort "Test Specification Editor" table columns.   It provides a great value to the user if we can add sort option so that user can sort by Property Type or Method or  Condition columns and enters the test results.   I would request to have an ability to sort this table by columns.   see the Test Specification Editor table in an attached file  

I know this can be done for WVS scheduler but I am looking for general instructions related to a old Windchill idea Task for notifying users on running old Tasks. Cat herding has not worked and I believe there are a set of infrequent users who let the "you have a task" emails flow by.  I am looking to see if anyone has written a custom job scheduler in Windchill that can run daily or on a schedule to process open tasks and look for the late ones.   My requirements on email notifications would be unique but I am looking for the hooks to schedule jobs and execute them. Are there existing queues to piggie back on or do I need my own queue? Looking for your feedback and I will share what I learn on my own.

Hello I am facing a problem that I have no idea how to solve.   Use case: Under Workspace when the user creates a new CAD Document, there is a possibility to associate a part on creation. If the “Create and Associate Part ” is checked on CAD Document creation, an extra step should be implemented where the associated part attributes can be filled. (This way the user don’t need to find the created part and fill its attributes separately after CAD Document creation.)   Could you suggest me a way to solve this issue? Windchill version is 10.2 M030. 

All I want to do make the existing SW templates active in Windchill, so when I start a new part from workgroup manager it opens new parts in SW correctly.Reading all the guides like Workgroup Manager for SolidWorks® Installation and Configuration Guide, which refers to the workgroup Help files I am getting nowhere in finding a simple answer. All is based on Creo. Manuals refer to manuals, PTC e-support is even worse, all looks like it is written for lawyers with references and over-complex screens, but no solutions.Suggestion for improvement: When PTC supplies Windchill to SolidWorks customers, Windchill - SolidWorks should contain a help file document based on SW, not one that explain all about Creo with occasional notes about AutoCad or Solidworks.Back to my question.I need a simple step-by-step instruction of how setup Windchill using my existing part PRTDOT, assembly ASMDOT and drawing DWGDOT templates.Thanks, Gerard

So...   In the "Compare to Part Structure" tool you can select in "Preferences" -tab "Include related information to compare: - Documents - Replacement Parts - CAD Documents"   The last one sounds like it should work the same as in Structure viewer ie. it shows the related CAD-models / assemblies AND drawings, but in our case only CAD-models / assemblies are shown in the comparison views. Only some drawings added to Parts with Content association are displayed, but apparently not the Calculated ones.   Is this how it's supposed to be? 11.0 M030 CPS11

Since mid-January we have seen a host of issues related to Trend Micro, most common is a "Page not displayed" error within Creo's embedded browser. (Chrome or IE, does't matter). Other problems occur when we do a general process within the embedded browser, such as check ins, add to workspace, and update our of date revisions.  We've also had Creo crash and hang at random times and Trend always shows as the most active process, and twice had Trend quarantine both Creo and the Workgroup manager.    We have done a number of exceptions in Trend, but any given Trend update seems to unlearn and require relearning (if you will) to allow Creo and its embedded browser to function.   Anyone else experiencing this or anything like it?

Hi,   One of the suggestion On Demand System Scan made is to distribute vault content into multiple directories through setting 2 properties, wt.fv.fvFileThreshold and wt.fv.useFvFileThreshold. We did that and ran Revaulting command. It didn't distribute the existing content.   Any idea how I can distribute the contents?   Thanks.

Hi Guys,Hope everyone had an amazing new year.I am working on Corporate LDAP integration with Windchill. All is done and everything is working as expected. Now the client wants us to map Alternate User Name attribute in Users details page to one of the Corp LDAP attributes. And Alternate User Name is an OOTB Windchill attribute available for all the users. Now I know we can map User's attributes thorough "additional properties section in JNDI adapter configuration". The problem is that the mapping exists for a most of the OOTB attributes (Email, Full name, last name etc..,). But there is no mapping available for Alternate User Name. I couldn't find it anywhere. Please let me know if you have any information for mapping this particular attribute.Thanks in advance.Ganesh.

  Hi guys, I'm having trouble understanding the process of publishing files for thumbnail generation, so I'd like some help. Historic: On the same machine I have all the following software installed: - SQL Server 2017; - Windchill 11.1; - Desktop Integration; - Creo View 5.1. I need to know the order and what I need to install and configure in order to generate the Creo document thumbnails inside Windchill. I was the equivalent of one day reading about, but I did not come up with a precise conclusion of what I need to do to generate a thumbnail. I would like an aid because I am starting in the world of PTC. Grateful!!

Experts:   After converting a replica site to SSL to match the master site, and updating the replica URL in Site Administration from http to https, is there a way to update the URL that the master is using without completely restarting Windchill?   Thanks in advance, Mark

Dear community,   I am not sure if it is absolutly odd, but I have to import an Excel file with 3.200.000 lines as System Tree (structured). I have the feeling that this will exceed the memory of Windchill and I do not think that the GUI import/export wizzard can handle this size. Has anyone recommendations or experience with this? Any help is appreciated, Tobias

Is it possible to customize the part object link to link to a WTDocument

Does someone have a quick reference guide to installing CreoView 4.1 so it may be downloaded and installed from Windchill 11.0? I need to get the download configured so the users can go to Quick Links - Software Downloads and then get the stated version of CreoView for installation.

I guess everybody knows that since Windchill 11.1 every user needs to have a license. And here starts the mess. Because test users don't need a license or a engineer has a second admin user, PTC introduced in 11.1M010 a license exclusion group. This works as far I could test. But now the mess starts. With Creo 5.0.1.0  and the Workgroup Managers for 11.1M010 PTC also checks if the user has a Windchill CAD-License. But they not checking against the license exclusion group. So even the wcadmin which normally creates all the Creo View data on the worker, needs to have all the Windchill CAD licenses! I opened up a Case C14210080 and the currently answer is (case is not yet closed), that the articels have been updated, that also the wcadmin has to have the appropriate licenses.  CS282719   What are your thoughts about this topic??? I guess, the community needs to get active. At the moment we aren't able to upgrade any customer to Windchill 11.1 because of this lice

In pure SQL I would define it as. select * from WTPARTMASTER PMJOIN WTORGANIZATION O ON O.IDA2A2 = PM.IDA3ORGANIZATIONREFERENCEWHERE concat(PM.WTPARTNUMBER, O.NAME) IN ('0000000081Demo Organization','0000000081Other Organization'.......);   I need to be able to search for hundreds of parts in one go, that's why I use the WHERE IN. (ArrayExpression in the QuerySpec) And since I need both the Number and the Org name I concat them, otherwise I cannot use the IN clause.   Any ideas are welcome.   BR Anders
