Windchill

First, let me apologize for my ignorance, I didn't know anything about WindChill until 2 days ago. So my company installed a WindChill 10.1 instance in 2013-2014. It sat mostly idle until about a week ago when they decided they needed it for a project. I'm trying to figure out what are the required security patches for WindChill 10.1. Our security department requires that all current "critical" and "high priority" patches be applied before the application is available for use. I don't want to upgrade WindChill to version 11.1 because another team is working on that project right now. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi All, What is Build process mechanism and how it is used for Customization deployment purpose? also if we used this build process, the build name will be displayed when we enter Windchill version command, so its easy to know the system configuration/customization.   Any help in this regards is really appreciated.   Regards, Vivek  

Is there a way to include a link to a supplemental image file (jpg, png, pdf) when creating a markup using Creo View?  The image file would likely be hosted in a location in Windchill that is associated with the same project. Perhaps something as simple as a hyperlink in a text annotation?   Thanks for any help or suggestions for "best practices" regarding how to create an easy reference to additional support material thgat is image based..    

When a new member is added to a Project an invitation to join email is sent to the new member person.   When a new member is added to a Product no invitation email is sent. Is there a way to switch this functionality on so that new Product members recieve an invitation to join email?

Good evening, I have begun experimenting with a tool to read a workflow ZIP file and produce an HTML document with a graph. Graphviz provides tools which seems suitable. I am attaching a sample. There are three options: let Graphviz control the layout, guide Graphviz in the layout process, or reproduce the positions in the original workflow. Would this be useful? Thank you. -- ClaudeM

When you install PDMLINK, the JDK is installed as a bundle.However, pages such as the vault configuration or the lifecycle configuration do not run because of security.   Therefore, we downloaded our latest JRE from www.java.com/en/download and filled out our PDMLINK address in the JAVA configuration security prompt.(It did not work when writing the PDMLINK address to the bundled JAVA configuration security prompt.)   JAVE SE becomes subscription policy after 1 2019.Could this be a problem when using PDMLINK?   Thanks  Warm Regards, SeonHo, Cha

Hi All, It would be of great help if somebody could solve this doubt? Is it mandatory to go with different hardware while upgrading from one instance to another? For example while upgrading from 10.2 to 11.0 is it mandatory to install 11 on a new hardware and then restore backup data and run the upgrade manager? Since upgrade manager deals with database alone, can I not just take backup of 10.2 required data and then uninstall Windchill 10.2 completely and then install 11.0 on the same hardware and run the upgrade manager?    Also it would be helpful if you could provide insight about pro's and con's of using same hardware and different hardware during upgrade.

Hello,   When I "save as" a CADdocument from creo (file/save as), the result in my local workspace is a new component not loaded. Whereas when I "save as" a CADdocument form local workspace (action/save as), the result is a new component loaded.   See the print screen below the differents results :   Is it possible to NOT load the CADdocument when I use the SAVE AS command of the workspace ?   Regards, Arnaud

Looking for opinions on numbering schemes and bulk renumbering (probably at the database level).We currently keep name, number, and filename synchronized. This means the file extension is included as part of the name/number. Hi all,   there's a requirement to update general/legal texts in drawings. One option is to implement changes when drawing is revised. I tested making a new iteration for the CAD Template and enabled it. However, when revising a drawing the new revision does not use the new template. Should it?   New CAD Document opens the new template as expected.   The latest iteration of the template is in state Design (In Work, ie. not Approved / Released) but so was the previous. It's checked-in with a non-admin user.

Users have a dropdown box, which has things like "Category X Subcategory Y". I have found the definition of this box in the STRINGDEFINITION table. The STRINGVALUE table has text values in the fields VALUE and VALUE2 which are close to what's in the dropdown, but not quite. For example, instead of "Category X Subcategory Y", I would see something like "X-SubY." How do I find, in the Oracle Windchill tables, the mapping between the values in the value table with the values that are shown in the dropdown?

Hello everyone. I have experience installing and customizing Windchill, but I am new to Navigate and thingworx installation. After refering software matrices, I came to conclusion that Postgre and H2 are the only databases supported for navigate installation. But in my client location they are having below mention servers, so how should I tackle below mentioned problems/ address questions? Any reply regarding the subject would be of great importance.    Question 1: Is it possible to install PTC navigate 1.5 and Thingworx 8.0.1 when there is a windows server 2012 and MSSQL 2016 standard database in production environment? If it is possible how should it be done?  (Requesting for documents and useful links)   Question 2: Is it possible to install PTC navigate 1.5 and Thingworx 8.0.1 when there is a windows server 2008 and Oracle 11g database in test environment? Does anyone know a configuration or setting where you can block users (perhaps just Guests) from viewing document content from the Primary Content link and directing them to Creo View only?  We want to ensure watermarking is utilized but it the primary content is a PDF or TIFF, the user can simply click on the download icon and get the file from normal file download from the browser.  I know I can disable table views on search to make it harder for the novice user but I much rather direct all viewers to the "open in Creo View" option and this would trigger watermarks, etc.     I was wondering if taking away "download" rights still allowed Creo View to function where I can load a viewable but they were unable to download primary content directly. Or does disabling download also disable Creo View too?

I've been wrestling with this for some time and have formed some strong opinions on this topic. I would love to back this up with data.  To preface, my industry is A&D, low volume, highly complex, systems. We might build one unit for a customer and sell it (like selling the first prototype).  High ratio of tooling to deliverable hardware. The common ask is for faster change processes, less reviews, get to floor faster so we can start building.  The common solution is prototype process or new product introduction where the revision series (typically numerics) indicates prototype, not for production and that switches to MilSpec once we cross to a production review, typically with an advanced lifecycle.   Does this enable more revisions, less quality reviews and more chaotic design output? Does anyone know if it is possible to have a Configurable Link, such as Configurable Reference Link, allow a referenced object to be added more than once. I have a use case where this would be desirable so that I can define a different link attribute for the various link instances of a referenced (ROLE B) object in a given link.

I just started as a CAD Admin at my company.  I have a family table and drawing that was originally released as a - (dash) revision.  The files/drawing were then revised with a revision of F in the In Work state.  However, the customer print wants it at an E rev.  Is there a way to go into Windchill and reassign them to the E rev?? When I go to Revise/Select Revision, I'm unable to choose a letter lower than G (coming from F).  If I select enter, and put E in there, I'll get an error saying it's not greater than the existing revision value F.   If there isn't an easy procedure that I'm missing, what would be the workaround other than deleting the files, re-uploading them and setting the correct revision??  Obviously that is not ideal.
