Windchill

I am looking to find a way to import cognos active reports to windchill. The goal is to add a static url (per report) on windchill pointing to an active report and setup a schedule to autorun and refresh the report on a weekly basis.

I renamed the instances of a family table inside Creo instead of File>Rename in Windchill as I now understand I should have. Now the generic is tied to the new parts that were created.   Currently, my generic is at 1.6, if I go into the history tab and go to the details of the 1.5 iteration, I see that the generic is tied to the original instances that existed before renaming the instances. I plan to take the 1.5 iteration, check it back in to overwrite the 1.6 iteration and create the 1.7 iteration where the instances are back to their original names.   However, I still need to rename the instances, this time through Windchill of course. See below for clarification. If I overwrite Generic 1.6 with Generic 1.5, will I be able to rename "old_inst1" and change it to "new_inst1"?   new_inst1 represent a nomenclature that I need to keep.   What I have now: Generic (1.6) new_inst1 new_inst2   What I will use to overwrite: Generic (1.5) old_inst1 old_inst2

I have a question regarding the "Synchronize Name with LDAP" line in the user's page.  We don't sync to our company LDAP but we leave that box checked for each new user we create.   My problem is really with creating a report that doesn't list our deactivated users.  When we deactivate a user we change the email address to "zzz".  That way when I export the report I can sort in Excel to remove them.  This is very easy.  The field for email is not available to use on the Criteria tab in the Query Builder. Looking through a few things I realized I can uncheck the box for LDAP in each deactivated user and add the "Allow LDAPSynchronization" entry equal to Yes in the report.  This will filter out the deactivated users. Is there any problem with unchecking this box?  Would it affect any reports or table information?

Cannot do any number of WC tasks as I cannot access the lower right part of the Creo embedded web browser.

I upgraded to Windchill 11.0 m030 last month. Along with that we had IT upgrade Java to 8.144 and IE to 11.0. Everything is fine except when I got to Vault Configurator. The Java applet opens and then says it is out-of-date and will not run. I have Java set for High Security and the server in the trusted host list. My Windchill system is not on the internet so there is no checking with Oracle servers for a later version of Java. Does someone know how to shut off this data check and allow me to run the Vault Configurator?

We are planning to configure URL https://<alias.com>/Windchill . We are NOT planning to use default port 443 as it is not available for users other than root in linux. Instead we would like to use port 4430 but need to hide port number in URL and still would be able to use URL https://<alias.com>/Windchill . How do I achieve this? Thanks in Adavnce.

Hello.Was planned by company to allow Electrical Engineers (No UWGM for there Application) to use Import from Spreadsheet Functionality to build their Product Structures.However OOTB IMport from Spreadsheet seems to only Work if a User is a Product Manager (i.e. Full Control)If I make a user who (Member) that has ability to Create Parts and End Items; The Import from Spreadsheet Wizard fails saying the use does not have enough access...What Access Control would I need to grant the Users to allow a Regular User to use "Import From Spreadsheet"orWhat kinid of Workaround should I use? I could try and make a Loaded User Role with FC Access, that also Denies FC for all other States other than the first one;Brian Sullivan

Greetings Windchillers.I’m trying to customize the task view on the home page. I’m wondering if there is a way to set up a view to just see a particular group of tasks such as open tasks for incoming Problem Reports?   I've been playing with itI was able to sort by PBO column and get all PR, CR, CNs.     I've done various views but none seem to get to the meat of the matter; I really want just Open Triage PR Tasks in that particular view of the My Tasks table.  I wonder if I could add an Alias Attribute to the PR and sort for that?   Any ideas how that might be done. This has long been an issue with the multiple concurrent workflows in the change process. If I assign a task to the user in a change notice workflow, I can grant rights to modify the PBO. But what if they need to modify things in the affected objects table like Inventory Dispositions?  That is not the PBO and there could be many objects or change tasks. Cannot be handled simply with a workflow variable.  I guess I can do it with lifecycle states on the change task but is there another way assuming the change task is locked for most other people?

Hi, Can anyone help me with enabling delta indexing for Windchill Product Analytics?   For delta indexing, in com.ptc.insight.rdr.search.solr.provider.config.properties I have put a cron expression for Supplier Part to run every minute. This is what it looks like : com.ptc.insight.solr.supplierpart.delta.index.service.batch.size=3000com.ptc.insight.solr.supplierpart.delta.index.service.cron.expression=0 * * ? * *   After restarting the virgo - server, I am able to see the change in Scheduled Jobs in the UI. However, modifications to a Supplier Part are not reflected until I go for manual full indexing.   Can someone please help? Any suggestions would be appreciated.   Regards.

Greetings Windchillers We are considering using effectivity in our Change Management. The effectivity date will be read by middleware and sent to our SAP system.  We have occasions to hold on to ECNs here for a while, so we set the effectivity date out 10 years when we start the ECN.    Our Change Process is to do Engineering work, set files to Release, continue work in SAP, and finally when all is done Resolve the ECN.   I'm wondering what affect, if any, this could have on a WTPart in Windchill itself.  It would be set to Release (lifecycle) but have an effectivity date some time in the future.   Any pitfalls?  I'm thinking Windchill would ignore it.TIA,James  Windchill 11.0 M030 CPS08, WGM 11.0 M030, Inventor Pro 2017, Windows 10  

Hi All, as per the Windchill Upgrade guide and windu guide it tells that after running windu from windchill shell a file called GatherSourceUpgrade.properties file will be created. But I am not able to find this file nor the directory  after running windu. A log file with no error was generated but the mentioned file not the directory was created. Should this file be manually created or will it be automatically generated? If it has to be created manually then what are the information that should be populated within this file? Any documentation regarding this would be of great help. Thank you in advance.  I have attached the section from windu guide that talks about mentioned file and folder.

Hello,   To start with, I am beginner in Thingworx. I just had my thingworx 7.1.19 installed with postgres as database. I brought up the UI and can able to navigate around and do basic entity creation like thing, thingtemplate etc...   Now trying to import the PTC Windchill extension (ptc-windchill-extension-1.6) into thingworx, but it fails and all I can see in log is below error message, not sufficient to troubleshoot, not sure what I am missing.   1. Is there any compatibility issue. 2. Hi all, Our business has a need to assign folder location via an OIR with a unique need: assign the location "incrementally" from the location where the create new object action was started. If the user has navigated to /Default/Project A and a subfolder in Project A is called Documents, then what are the OIR statemenr required to set the location in the OIR incrementally, i.e.   folder.id = <current location of action start>/Document   The intent is to use the OIR to support multiple subfolders locations based on where the create action was triggered:. I am running Windchill 11.0 m030 and just did a test upgrade to CPS06. The area I am testing is the change to File Administration from Java to HTML. I like the new look. However, I am having an issue of Validating a new file vault to Windchill. I created the disk folder years ago and verified that it is still there. I went into the File Administrator and selected New Folder, enter a unique name, and select the proper vault. Then I went to Object, Mount and pasted in the proper disk location. Next I went to Mounts and selected Validate. The system throws an error and in the Mount Status column, it lists Duplicate. It is not a duplicate, I verified that I have not used that same mount on any other folders. Is this a bug in CPS06 or a bug in general to the HTML interface. I never had issues with adding, mounting and verifying a folder under the JAVA interface.

Hi,   I would want to get all the parts from a Drawing EPMDocument from code. Between the part and the drawing there is only a calculated link. But I need all parts (calculated,content...) which are related to the EPMDocument in any way. Is there a helper class that gives me back these links? If not, what are the APIs that I can use to get the 3D models linked to the Drawing, so that I can get the Parts from those?   What I used is: GenericUtilities.getAssociated(document); This won't give me back the calculated links.   Thanks in advance, Tamás

Dear Experts,   We are planning to upgrade 10.1 M030 to 11.0 M030 with the SQL server Database. Meanwhile we wanted to change SQL Edition from Enterprise to Standard due to the limited needs [functionality] than it was originally had and also cost incurs for the Enterprise edition.   Please clarify if this is a right approach and share your feedback if any one have done this already.     Thanks Murthi
