Hi all, I have seen the help menu regarding the problem with multi owner part files and the link is attached below, https://support.ptc.com/help/windchill/wc110_hc/whc_en/index.html#page/Windchill_Help_Center%2FMCPR_Multi-ownerLimitations.html%23 According to that, we are also facing the problem but I came to know that there are two different solutions that can be done even though the solutions are clear verbally. I need help from some of you, if possible 1. At the site/industry level, we can block the process of the updating the process, if EBOM structure is not developed 2. We can create some custom code for pop up window to select the required part & generate the EBOM. These two procedures are quite interesting but I need some support for developing EBOM structures without having laborious process that we are doing at present. The problem is documented and attached to this post. Please check it and kindly help. &n
Greetings, Has anyone attempted to create viewables with the CAD software by selecting that as you check in an Inventor CAD model? We intend to use a cadworker to publish files inside Windchill, but were considering this method instead. James Windchill 11.0 M030 CPS08WGM 11.0 M030Inventor Pro 2017Windows 10
The"new view" action should be under Actions menue directelly and not Under the sbmenu Actions\menue. So, this action does not create a very new object. However, the action new version create realy a new object is Under menue Action. The action semantics does not respect the actions a classification. So we propose to change this action Under Actions menue.
I have a Little excel database, and I would like to read the "Status" and the "Version+Iteration" of drawing. Also the description, maintaining some kind of Read-Only link from Windchill, I suppose that somethiing like DTI "DEsktop integration" that do an OOTB from office applications, but is possible to do ?
Hi, I have been using this excellent yet old tool to align the implementations to the business strategy. I have a hard copy of 6.2 which now looks, well as if it has been used a lot (and it has). I have been trying to find a pdf version of it but I could only find 6.1 and discovered there is a version 7. I was wondering if someone had a pdf of version 7 to share. I wondered if they have implemented what I added myself to 6.2 Thanks a lot
Hello, everyone We are going to do some development based on Windchill's OOTB.One of their requirements is as follows. Someone in the user checks in the object. Can I create a separate document or CAD tab to announce who checked in and which files were checked in for checked-in objects? For example, User A, who is part of Product1, checked in part1.All users belonging to Product1 can notice that User A has checked in part1.Notices can be displayed on the homepage in the same form as a mission. Is this possible? If so, what should I develop? I'll wait to your help. Thanks Kind Regards
Hi All, We are migrating from another system to Windchill. In our current system uniqueness is defined by 3 things: Type, Name (number) and Revision. i.e. TNR. So, we took advantage of this in our existing system and defined schema (soft types in Windchill speak) like PL, PRD and PRD-CU as we use a number of document type designators in our MRP system. So, now we have 3 types all having the same name and all having the same revision just different type designators: PL 1234 A PRD 1234 A PRD-CU 1234 A each containing unique content. Works well in our current system as the type makes them unique from each other; integrators have told us there is no way to do this in Windchill. Their solution is to put prefixes (PL, PRD, PRD-CU etc.) in our Names and Numbers and add an attribute with the "real" name (doc number) and search for that. Please tell me there is a more elegant solution than the one above (prefixes???) . I thought the answer may lie
Greetings, I have an odd little problem. We are in process of our final testing of our new Windchill 11.0 (M030 CPS08) environment. One of our users can no longer connect to Windchill using Inventor Pro 2017 on her Windows 7 laptop. Last week we uninstalled her WGM (11.0 M030) and re-installed it. It seemed to function properly and could 'see' Inventor 2017, but when you attempted to 'register' it, it did not quite function. If you opened WGM, it would produce the error in the Warning image below. I'm not certain why a shared folder would be a problem. If you attempted to open an Inventor file, it would give you the error in Error_Image below, then the error in Error_Image_2 below. These errors occurred after we had purged all browser caches, the Java cache, and had re-installed WGM for Inventor. Other computers access Windchill just fine via WGM and Inventor.

Hi All,Have anybody have created this kind of Senario ??Please let me know. I am Inserting a Wizard Item and in 1 single Wizard i am trying to persist 2 Object (Part and LineItem) in the Part Wizard.Line Item is a Modeled Object.I am facing some error while completing the Part Wizard.Nested exception is: wt.util.WTException:CreateEditFormProcessorHelper.getTypeInstance() - sourceObj must be aTypeInstance, TypeInstanceIdentifier, or TypeIdentifier wt.util.WTException: CreateEditFormProcessorHelper.getInProgressItemInstance():Unable to create an in-progress instance of the object. Please let me know any idea ??
In Thingworx Navigate (logged in as admin), I have gone into 'View Part Structure Tailoring' and added 'Quantity' in to the selected attributes. On viewing the Part Structure Tile and searching for a part number, I can see the Quantity attribute header in the table but no value appears under it. How do I get the values to show? Thanks in Advance
When using the MIL-HDBK-217 FN2 calculation model, each part has different Pi factors in the prediction data pane. How do I get these Pi factors that were used to print in a report? I don't see them in the list of available selections.
I need to prohibit users (designers) from changing their vault preference. Thus, I need to lock user vault preference for few users. I see that importing user preference xml file does not have lock option that works. Is there way I can achieve this.?
For international shipments, we've been asked to manage (assign and document) in Windchill:- export tariff codes (HTS)- homeland defense codes (ECCN)- country of origin (CoO)Is anyone doing this or similar? What approach?
I'm trying to pin down the exact meaning of context in the below. It seems to me that they are saying something like lifecycle state change, and not moving a component from one context (or product) to another. I think these Associated Process Objects become 'part' of the associated Change Object. For example if you create an ECN from an ECR, the Affected Objects can be populated to the ECN from the ECR, and the ECR becomes an Associated Process Object on the ECN. So context here doesn't seem to mean product. Any ideas? Out of Windchill help: The Associated Process Objects table contains associated changes with parent and child relationships for a context change. Process links support closure through a workflow process, so the objects can be closed at the same time if each object is in the correct state.
The Design Review Working Group which was formed recently has been at work for the last few months. The goal of this group is to identify and document the key components and business processes needed for a successful MBD Design Review. This Working Group started with the definition of Design Review – “What does Design Review” mean? Here are some definitions that we have received from the members thus far. We would love to hear from you as well. Send us your thoughts by replying to this thread.
Does anyone know if Windchill keeps track of objects that are deleted? Maybe in some audit table? I need to find out who deleted a particular object (and when). The object no longer exists (all versions). I was able to find an unreferenced copy in the file vault. Thanks!Tom U.
I have created a workflow task for a soft type document to get it into a formal process from no process. One of the attributes that I have for the document is Need Date. What I am wondering is how do I get the Need Date to show up on an user's task and in their email? It shows up on the details page and in the folder where the document is created.
Hello, all! For a current workflow task, how do I programmatically add a user and assign them the current task (add them to the current task pool)? So. Adding users to a role via api. Check. There are a bunch of ways to do this, actually. The two main ways were getting the team for the object and adding and getting the process team (which I figure is the same in this case?) and adding the participant. I can add the participant, but the task for that role is not generating. As always, I figure I am missing something obvious....... Latest iteration I was trying: private String assignUserToRole(WTChangeOrder2 coIn,String roleNameIn,String userNameToAdd){ Vector<Role> rolesToReturn = new Vector<Role>(); StringBuilder dataToReturn = new StringBuilder(); try{ Team curCNTeam = TeamHelper.service.getTeam(coIn); rolesToReturn = curCNTeam.getRoles(); for(Role curRole:rolesToReturn){ if(curRole.getDisp
Hi all, We have a small issue when sending to SAP parts with small weight values. For example if you set the weight at 0.0000000001 then to SAP (in the windchill ESI Response files) the value 1.0E-12 is sent. SAP cannot process this so we should have 0.0000000001 sent. Any ideas? Alex

Hi! we have connected our Windchill to Windows LDAP. Login for most of the users is ok. one failed - he had a non-ASCII symbol in the password. another one fails too - login window just turns up again - he has only ASCII symbols. But he has Chinese symbols in his name (not username, this is ASCII only). In Windchill Userlist the symbols are shown correctly. Is there any log with a detailed block reason? In WindchillDS logs I could see the lookups, but no details why the user get's blocked. The user can login with a windchill internal user, so the connection and setup is ok. br Bernhard
Hello, everyone Can I use parameters for naming and numbering? We are going to establish a naming and numbering scheme for businesses that are introducing PDM.We are going to propose the following.#### _ #### _ <button> .prt or #### _ #### _ <button> .asm #### means a four-digit number. The first four digits represent the part number, and the middle four digits represent the pid.The last <name> will be the name of a generic model. The 4-digit number will specify the number following the OIR in ORACLE DB.The last <name> will be the name of the file you will enter. In combination, EPM documents will be given a number and file name. The public name will have only <name>. Each type also expects parameters like parameters PTC_WC_PART_NO, PTC_WC_PRODUCT_ID, and PTC_WC_PART_NAME. Can I use WINDCHILL PDMLink systematically to satisfy the above requirement without having to use CREATE RELATIONSHIP in CREO? If possible, please let me know about the approach. Than
