Windchill

A bit over a year ago we hired a brilliant company to configure our Windchill to the workflows etc. that we wanted. One thing we wanted was to do was map our parameters in Creo to Attributes in Windchill, so we could use them to search. So they created a bunch of attributes called MFG1_PN, MFG2_PN, MFG3_PN, MFG4_PN, which are supposed to be Data Type = String. But they accidentally made MFG3_PN "Boolean" data type.When I log in a Admin and go to "Manage Global Attributes" I get all the listing as expected. But I can't edit the type from Boolean to String. I get that. I read it in the Help, so I understand why you couldn't be able to do that, it's totally different types of information. So I thought I could delete it and create it again as String data type. But nope, won't let me. I get this message:(I should say I renamed it to "MFG3_PN_Obsolete", with the idea of creating a new attribute with the same name but String.)Okay, what do I do? Hi everybody !Since this morning, when I want to rename a CAD document, the button "OK" doesn't work. I just want to know, if I send some drawings to other people for approval, the approver and me all do not use the PENTABLE, then the approver approve the request, the drawings released to FORMAL RERSIONWhat will be happen ? the dark lines will show up ? if the approver use the PENTABLE ? what will be happen ?  or the dark lines depend on the Windchill ? the Windchill has been set default ?below is a PDF.The outside lines are dark and hard to review, I know I can use and set the “PENTABLE” to make the lines look more thin when I export the drawing to PDF.But I want to know ,if I do not use the “PENTABLE”, other people release this drawing into “FORMAL” and individuals use a viewer, the “dark lines” will still show up ?I was wondering once we put things into “formal” if the “dark line” would still show up?

Hello,I have a problem when I try to import Creo objects (prt, drw and asm) into my workspace, the import fails and I do not find any information in the event manager.Is there a special configuration to set up to have this information in the event manager?Do you have an idea of why an import can fail?Thanks in advance.

I am trying to set the preference under Operation -CheckIn-Upload so that all part and assembly files when checked In will drop the file extension on the number field.In my testing, I can get it to work for my personal userID, but it will not work when set at the Product or Library level so everyone gets the setting.When I have the preference set to Yes for me, as soon as a save a file into my workspace, the number field shows just the number, not ,prt or .asm extension.I then set it to No for me and edit the Part Library preference to Yes, create a new part and save. It is showing the .prt extension.I have set the preference to Auto Create WTparts at the Library and Product levels and that works fine.Is there a bug in my version that is fixed in Windchill 11? Does PDMLink/Windchill support TLS 1.2?

Hi all,I changed after a the installation path of the "ptc" folder from one Drive C to D. Right now i would like to install a component using PSI but when i start PSI it will point to the old installation path. Is there any way to change this?Alex

We are on PDMLink 10.2 and we are trying to implement a state based activity for creating PDF files.  We have that working but the files seem to be secondary files.  When I try and create a Package, I cannot seem to add the PDF files nor can I search on them.  We are attempting to create them as primary files with our CAD worker but this seems to be overly complicated and PTC is not much help.  Any suggestions?

So we currently use Change Management in Windchill to manage our engineering changes, and have noticed that there appears to be a date field in the change activity that never gets filled out.   I am curious as to what this date field is for and how to get it to populate with data?   (See attached screenshot for details.)-marc

Alcon acquired a company with mature SolidWorks data in EPDM.  We're being asked to look at migrating it including all history to Windchill.What utilities / approaches can be used for this?note: For another acquired company with SolidWorks data on network drives, we've imported to Windchill WGM, latest only, and are very familiar with this process.thanks in advance

I am trying to map the following properties from Solidworks to Windchill attributes so as to display it under details page once user checkin the CAD document:1. Override mass (yes or no) - is the mass displayed is the calculated or overridden.2. XYZ coordinates of center of gravity.3. Hi, I am looking for someone who can help me to find out how to add popup help for the attributes in Windchill. When user create parts or document there are plenty of mandatory attributes that requires description and explanation. It is possible to describe attribute by adding “Suggested Value List” to an attribute. But this information will ONLY be available if you add the wtpart to your workspace and checking out the object. On the top of that, NO information will popup when user creates NEW wtparts or wtdocument. Anybody knows how to add attribute popup help in Windchill?Thank you beforehand,Javid

Hello everyone                           I have a doubt regarding email notification in projectlinkI have started project with auto execution mode:when a project is started then i have observed following :1. All activity and resource are getting their task when the project starts.2. Owner of the activity is responsible for adding attachment to deliverable3. Resource are only helping source to complete the activitykindly tell me when the email is received by owner and resources. and can we customize email like adding some new things to email.Also when i start project in Manual execution mode then there is no option to complete milestone, is it the default functionality of project link, because when i start project in auto execution mode then i am getting option to complete milestone.please help me out to resolve the issuesregardsNimish

Does anyone have a report that will return all running workflows and who (user) they are assigned to?  Most of our documents are tied to a workflow and some managers want to know who has been assigned what.Thanks,Greg
