The auto-associate command in Windchill's CAD integrations is an easy way to relate CAD documents to existing parts or create new parts to facilitate the creation of CAD driven product structure. However, there exist cases where not all CAD models represent an actual part and part number from a BoM perspective (for certain object types such as skeleton parts these get filtered automatically). But for general models it is not so easy until Windchill 10.0. Check out the new site preference "Part Structure Override Attribute Name" located under Operation > Auto-Associate. this new preference allows you to specify a boolean attribute name that auto-associate will look for on each CAD document and depending on its value auto-associate will either try to create/relate to a part, or will simply skip it. give it a try.
I want to know in which workspace(s), I have several, that a particular CAD object resides. I cannot locate any search criteria that would return my query?
Hi All,I am having PDMLink setup with multiple organization. It is very difficult to know under which organization we are currently. Is there any way to find under which organization the container(Product, Liberary, etc.) is created from the detail page of the container?I know it is possible to get the details from the policy administration, But it is tedious. Please let me know if there is any doubts;Best Regards,John Selvaraj
Hi Is there any way for auto creation of additional files like stp, iges, dxf etc when the document is check in, right now i have to manually create new representation for every models and drawing, is it possible that when the data is checked in it will auto generate all the additional file typesthanks in advance

Interesting meetings here lately. In general, we supply files (native CAD and/or STEP/IGES, etc.) to outside parties as email attachments if small, or via Box or Drop Box or equiv if larger. There is interest in allowing outside parties to access these and download directly from Windchill - now discussing options, etc.Interested in what others have done / are doing related to this.A few possibly approaches:- use Windchill Projects, possibly one per outside party; add neutral files / possibly share CAD data to the project, maybe subscribe the outside parties to a folder in the project- use Windchill packages (possibly too much complexity though)- other?thanks in advance
I know I can export from Windchill under Actions/Export List to File/Export List to XLSX. This only exports any subfolder names and any files in that current directory. Is there a way to do a mass export to include the files in the subfolders without having to go into each individual folder and export the data from those folders??
Chrome did it already, the new browser Edge never will support it and now also Firefox will cancel the plugin interface NPAPI by the end of next year.I'm really looking forward to Windchill 11 and I hope PTC will present a HTML5 Creo View and the end of the Java Applets...https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/
I would like to take a representation of a drawing file which contains a image file with it. When i tried the representation is not showing the image files with it.Can anyone will help me in finding out the solution for this
Anybody have a query builder report that returns exactly what you see from a Drawing, Related Objects, filtered for just the Drawing Format (.frm). Would appreciate if you would provide (or hints on how to create).thx
Hello everyone,I've execute an Info*Engine Task using the stand alone clinet Java successfully; now I would execute same task using JAX-WS Web Service, but I receive a Forbidden Exception. There is some example on how to pass signature to the task or in generaaly how to use a Task (Info*engine) with JAx.WSThank youGiorgio Fontana
If we go for a change request, will it change the phase of Life Cycleif yes, please give exampleif no, please explain why it is like that?
So Monday has gotten off to a grand start. I came in and our Windchill was down and has been down since Saturday morning after Friday night's backup kicked off. The server manager was giving an error that it could not connect to our database. So I started to look at the database and there were no tables. Went over to our IT database person for help. He was finally able to see tables in the database. However when we did a properties on the database, the location and names of the database files was incorrect. It had switched everything from our 😧 and F: drive setup to C: drive, along with changing the names of the files. We started to dig a little further because we wanted to change them back and found that our test server was being pointed to and that the file names and paths corresponded with the database files on our test environment. We have been running in this environment for over 1-1/2 years without any issues. I have no
Hello All,What is the internal name of "DISPLAY-->workspace" in preference admin?. I need to load this preference using LoadFromFile. Thanks in AdvanceRegardsSenthil
I am missing a feature in the Workspace, mark objacts an add the tha a favourite list. This could be helpful to find the objects faster in a large workspace.Feature should be like this:Simple right klick on a object and select add to favorites. In the new favoite colom you should be able to sort for favorites.I dont know why windchill doesnt provide such a basic feature. Git, Lightromm etc. everybody has some sort of favorite adding feature.PS: I know that there is a my Notebook with Link (I use it to find Modules or large assemblies) but I'm looking for a fearture for fast selection/ navigation within the workspace.Keep up the Windchill imporvemntsBRPascal
Hi,I have created an FTP location in my local system and created a distribution target in Windchill. I have associated it to a part and when I'm trying to perform 'Send to Distribution Target', I'm getting the following warning with no objects in 'Included objects' list. The object XXX being published does not have distribution targets assigned to it.Also, I'm not able to see publishing status in UI.Can you please help me in resolving this..Thanks in advance!
I have the following filters set up in my table view:state releasedstate released(expiring)latest YesIs there a way with these filters set to see the subfolders within my folder. (the subfolders are hidden because of the filters above).
What is diffrence between Load Base Data and Load Demo Data?
We had a situation recently where we didn't get what we expected when downloading from Windchill to a workspace. The designer had saved the drawing and assembly file as part of a check-in process. Submitted a promotion request, which was rejected from a bad WTpart EBOM listing. Designer checked out the part and WTpart, made the corrections, checked them back in. Submitted a new promotion request against the drawing, which uses the Load latest rule, and the part/drawing are approved and released. However, the drawing file is pointing to an older version of the assembly and not the latest after the EBOM change. Come forward a few weeks and we go to put the files out to manufacturing, so Add to Workpace is used and low and behold we do not have the latest version model. Nothing was physically changed in the model, so that is ok. The question being asked is: Is there a way at promotion request time to flag the promoter that the drawing is not utilizing the latest model, even
Hello All,Below are my requirement while SaveAsConsiderations:Hardware parts should come as Reused (Hardwares Library)Drawing Formats Should reuse (Pro_Standards Library). Procedure: Save as of any assembly from commonspaceThe collector window should not list the formats and Hardware componentsThose library parts should be considered as Reused.Note: This can be achieved by strike through the rows by location.Awaiting for your valuable reply.
How to view my Service Effectivities [i.e. Serial Numbers, Model Numbers] applied on Parts? under Structure Tab or any layouts? or any DB query to extract Effectivity on Parts?
Would anyone have some thoughts on how to insure that a user dose not have any locally modified files that are associated to a Promotion Request?Scenario:User revised and checked out a drawing File is opened, modified and saved. In workspace file shows as being checked-out and modified.User exports a PDF of the drawing and checks-in modified file.User creates a new promotion request associated to the file, and attaches the PDF to the ECO in Agile. The design-review team reviews the PDF and finds a mistake on the file and kicks the promotion request back. The file is still in the users local workspace, he opens it and when he initiates the change for whatever reason chooses "Continue" instead of "Checkout"Because he selected "Continue" the modifications are saved. He creates a new PDF that he attaches to the ECO in Agile. In Windchill he resubmits the promotion request. The design-review team reviews the new PDF and approves the ECO in AgileDoc-Control approves the Promotion Request in Windc
<<<Applies to you if you are using Windchill publishing with SolidWorks data >>>(I still shudder every day about going over to the "dark side" of SW, but it's interesting and mainly from acquisitions - similar for many companies and life goes on)Learned recently that the Creo View adapter on the CAD Worker behaves as follows (different from Creo Parametric publishing): If the recipe file is set to "Fail Publish for Missing Dependents=yes" then it fails every SW assembly / drawing for which any component is suppressed - including intentional suppression of SW configurations (handled as Windchill family table instances).Because of this, we have no choice but to leave "Fail Publish for Missing Dependents=no."PTC just published this article based on our tech support case: CS257786 https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?source=subscription&n=CS257786So I'd like to create an Idea here suggesting that PTC change this to match Creo Parametric - allow Suppr
