Hello! I was wondering about Creo’s capability to measure the Second Area Moment of Inertia (I). I am trying to calculate the second area moment for a common vascular needle, which has a cylindrical shaft and a conical tip. I was mostly wondering if Creo is able to find the second area moment over the varying geometry of the conical tip, or if it is only able to find one cross section at a time. I have attached a picture of what the needle end looks like below. I believe this process would require me to integrate by hand, as well as utilize the parallel axis theorem to connect the conical end of the needle to the cylindrical shaft. I thought Creo may have some functionality to do this within the program. Please let me know if I can clarify my problem in any way. It seems like Creo has lots of capabilities to find the mass properties of different parts, but since I need the area moment of inertia the mass properties are not required and instead geometry is my biggest concern. &nbsp

I am using Creo Simulate Release 5.0 and Datecode5.0.5.0For a particular assembly, we need to define a bearing connection.Please suggest a way to do so.

 See above screenshot, the spikes of stress calculations among shell elements. Does anyone see this before?! The stresses should be less than 20ksi, however, these spikes are around 2.0e+7 ksi. I am using Simulate 6.

I have a helical coil spring that supports a cradle.  The cradle catches a structure and supports it when not in use.  The question I have is in reality there are 6 dof of how this spring moves.  It operates in torsion, extension, and laterally.  So it's a complicated scenario.  My question is whether it is possible to simulate this in mechanism.  I started with a 6 dof connection so the cradle could move freely but I'm unable to make the torsion spring connection because there are not co-axes to select.  If I change my connection to a cylinder then I can create the extension and torsion springs but lose the lateral movement.   My question is if it is possible to write the equations of motion between the two points so that I can create all 3 types of springs?  Basically can I made a UDF for the springs?  

Can Creo simulate nonlinear materials plus large deformations to simulate, for example, aluminum stamping processes for springback at bend process or cracking at drawing process?

Whenever I create an animation in PTC Creo Parametric it is always the same size. It does not matter if I do it with rendered shots or not. For example, for my 10 seconds animation it is round about 1.5 Gigabytes.That is a lot. In my opinion Creo must store a lot of unecassary information. Does somebody know how to reduce this size? Why is it always the same size? I am exporting with 25 fps on Creo 8.0.4.0

Whenever I export an animation which I did in PTC Creo Parametric 8.0.4.0 and I want to select a compression method, Creo crashes.  Does somebody know how to fix that?

Hello Everyone,In a mechanism (no resistive forces other loads), if I provide a servo motor to a rotating link, it behaves as expected where very minimal forces are generated in links and I believe servo motor just gives enough power/velocity to cause motion. So If i put a measure for reaction forces at various links, the force values are very less. However, If i replace the servo with a finite value torque motor, reaction forces (equivalent in the order of a static case) are generated in the links even when there are no other resistive forces.  I would be much obliged if anyone could explain the above. Thanks in advance

Hi,I am not familiar with the Meccanism module, so I ask for your patience.I applied a motor to a rotating body by defining the trend in a table:Still from the engine definition tab, I see its graph and so far everything is ok.My problem appears when I ask the program to detect the measurement of the motor speed in a kinematic analysis, I get this result. I would have expected to obtain a graph similar to that of the engine and instead they are different, why? Thank you.P.S. I'm using creo 9.0.0.0

I have a sinusoidal mechanism I am trying to simulate.  I can get the kinematics to work fine by using two mechanism constraints: the first being a cylinder connection which controls the axis and angle of my assembly.  Then I projected a circular sketch onto the sinusoidal surface and used a slot constraint where a point follows the projected curve.  A spring keeps these two surfaces in contact.  In the video I can have the structure swing back and force indefinitely due to the force of the spring.  There is no friction in the system yet.  I would like to have the two surfaces generate friction to eventually damp the system to 0.  Is this possible?  I haven't had any luck with either cam or 3D contacts.  (view in My Videos)

I have a very annoying problem that I have just recently discovered in my FEA models. The issue appears to be present in an older version of Creo 2.0 and an a newer version of Creo 7.0 and it has taken me countless hours of frustration and failed meshing to figure it out. For some reason I can take a model where all my pinned joints are perfectly aligned (this can be verified by checking with the measure tool) and import them into Simulate only to have them shift ever so slightly (like 0.00003mm misaligned). The problem is that the shift is just enough to prevent AutoGEM from meshing the parts and no amount of reconstraining or regenerating the parts will fix the misalignment. Generally the only way to fix the problem is to close out everything and reopen the models and try meshing again. This is incredibly frustrating and wastes a significant amount of time. Anyone know how to fix this?

I am implementing a material nonlinear simulation for an aluminum tube. I fixed an end of the tube and used displacement constraint to another end.The ultimate stress of the material is 440MPa. What simulation or how to set up parameter to measure the moving constraint when the ultimate stress reaches exactly 440Mpa?   

I have finished a half-sine 30g impact shock analysis, however, I can't plot any results even I have defined some "measures". What could be wrong?! What could be wrong in setup?Thanks.P.S.(BTW, I also ran the same half-sine 30g impact shock analysis using SolidWorks Simulation concurrently, which produced stress results that I wanted within 1 minute using a laptop Precision 7550_2.5GHz-32GB, in contrast, CREO took 12 minutes using a desktop Precision 5820_3GHz-128GB).

In the result window of Creo Simulate; the default unit is Pa. How can I set up the default unit to Mpa? Then, I don't have to modify the unit during the simulation or review. Is there a config option for unit modification?

I am using Creo Simulate Live on an assembly.  I am trying to simulate bolted joints between the parts.  I think Creo is treating the joint as bonded because the stresses on the mating faces are constant, and I do not see any stess at the bolt holes.  How do I model a bolted joint?  I am using pinned connection between the mating parts.  I do not see an option in simulate live that tells me what kind of joint is assumed, and I do not see any option to change joint definition.

Morning All,  I'm sure this will be a simple Q. However, I'm unable to determine how to set my simulation to apply a thermal conductivity through the model?  I've got two heat sources on the top surface of the model, 600W source each.  I'm passing a flow of air of a series of fan blades & thus want to determine the effectiveness of the fan blades.  When I set the simulation up - I am able to determine the effect of the heat source on the surface of the model however I think that the heat isn't being transferred to the fins in a method I would expect. Hello everyone,I recently ran a sensitivity study with 20N load applied on the model from 0° to 360° from the start position thanks to user skunks's help! I also defined many points to obtain the strain values from the study. I am wondering if anyone knows  1) if I can export the measurements in the .csv like what a static analysis do? 2) Can I create a parameter relation feature in Creo with the user-defined measurements? Hello everyone, I would like to simulate the stress vs. load angle in Creo. Instead of creating individual load set for every 20 degree, I would like to see if there is a way to define the load with the parameter relation, and make Creo run the analysis for with a new load for every 20 degree.  The load magnitude will stay the same, but the direction will change. I am using Creo Simulate Release 7.0 and Datecode7.0.4.0In a modal analysis, is it possible to connect 2 cylindrical shaped bodies but allow rotation around the cylindrical axis. This would be for an unconstrained analysis with rigid mode search.

For example, i have already completed a FEA running with a feasible result. How can i use it in the Feasibility/Optimization function. Please give me an actual tutorial.

Is 2D analysis possible with ANSYS CREO?

Hello,I've just started using the excel analysis feature on Creo 7 to link values from an excel sheet to my 3Dmodel.Everytime I link some sketch dimensions to the excel file the model updates without any issues, however when I also link some feature dimensions to the excel file (i.e: extrude lengths, offset dimensions)... it starts giving me problems, the model does not update anymore and it also creates some temporary files with previous value dimensions... Has anybody had similar problems and knows how to fix this? Thank you in advance

This is a flat disc inside a stack of hundreds of discs. Is this a prank by a hacker?(BTW, company is buying Abaqus FEA, after having dropped CREO and started to use SWX. I am supporting Simulate, however, please make these non-stop glitches disappear.)
