Need instructions on converting FrameMaker files into Epic Editor. Or link to instructions would work, too.
Hi! I'm trying to test a new class in order to implement XUI with java, however I can not import "com.arbortext.epic.Acl" =(Why? When I'm trying to compile, compiler tells me the package doesn't exist. Does anybody know why this is happening to me?Thanks in advance. Best regards,Paulette
Hello!I'm working in a XML document examination, the idea is to perform a walk trough the document and identify certain parts in it. We are trying interactively step through the document highlighting various sections, and maybe prompt the user for a designed action. All this functionality implemented and running inside Arbortext. However I'm pretty new in Arbortext and I feel confused about the recommended tools in order to achieve our goal.I don't know if it's better to think the implemenation all based on ACL, or if it's better using javascript, or maybe "mixing" both of them. I have been working in an example using oid_find_children and implementing a simple content extractor. So please all help, support and advice you can provide me, I really really appreciate it!Regards,Paulette
Related to my earlier thread about looping over files, I'd like to popup a dialog telling the user that the work is happening (in a big directory, it can take a while). The best option I've found for that is response, but it requires a response, so it blocks the rest of the script. Is creating a dialog box in XUI be the best option? Would that work? Steve
Hi!I have been consulting Forums for PTC users, however in many threads people give advice about read HELP X number. Where can I find this help? also I would like to know if there's a guide where I can learn about how to use the tools provided by adepter in forums. Thanks in advance.Paulette Zorrilla
I'd like to use Arbortext to report all the files in a directory that have a certain xpath. It looks like xpath_boolean would tell me if a file has a particular xpath, but I didn't see a good way to loop over all the files in a directory.Does ACL have any convenience functions for looping over all the files in a directory? If not, does anyone have any suggestions for how to go about this? Steve

Hi, all…We will probably make extensive use of XML comments in the DITA topics that we edit in ArborText editor. Does anyone know of a way to hide them? We know how to collapse them, but are wondering if there was a way to completely hide them, including the enclosing tags, and even better, have ArborText remember the hidden state of the comment when you close and reopen a document. What would serve us just as well would be for ArborText to remember the collapsed state of XML comments like it does with any other element when you close and reopen a document. Version 6.0 does not do that.ThanksSteve
Hello all,I'm using Editor and PE 5.4 M100, and I'm having difficulty publishing a large doc to PDF.Ok, so the document itself is XML, ATA-style markup, and uses FOSI. It's roughly 2.2MB in size, contains references to about 200 bi-level TIFF graphic ents, and also contains several hundred instances of ID/IDREF pairs.By turning off graphic display and gentext, I was able to get the document to load pretty quickly into the Editor (about 15 seconds). No completeness errors or anything.Either sending this to PE or by using the local Print Composer (using distiller for PDF), I cannot get this document to render. I had my maxBusyInterval set to 30 minutes, and it considered the subprocess for this composition hung and restarted it. Other than that, I can get no indication of errors or issues that I can address. My PC for local composition is XP, with a dual-core Intel and 3Gb RAM.The development server I'm using for PE has 4 quad-core CPUs and 48Gb of RAM.Anyone have any ideas? I tried sear
I'm trying to install IsoDraw 7.0 to a new machine, but I'm not having any luck. It a node-locked license. When I attempt to load it asks for a dongle (which went away years ago). Also, does it need FlexNet and if so, how do you load it for a single computer?
Hi,we have a problem with cgms in Arbortext. We make the drawings with CATIA and then save them to cgm. In Arbortext the drawings look fine and in the preview as well. Nevertheless, when we convert the preview into a PDF, some cgms have funny fines all over them. If we have a look on these drawings in PowerPoint, some other funny lines are shown, but with other programs the cgms look fine.Any ideas to how we can resolve our problem? Thanks in advance!Monica
For anyone out there who is using MIL-STD-40051-1 or 40051-2 (not 1A or 2A), MIL-HDBK-2361C IS FINALLY published and available on the ASSIST web page (all 1458 pages of it).
How can I use IsoView to view 3D objects? Can IsoDraw render a 3D view which can be moved and rotated freely? What file format does it need to be in? I have a VRML/WRL file that IsoView does not recognize.I've attached a WRL file as an example.
If I have a CGM with a textbox which has a text value of BLUE, can I use JavaScript to modify the value to say RED? I was only able to find Iso3SetGrAttribute and Iso3SetStringAttrValue functions in Chapter 15 of the programmer's reference however it is not doing what I want it to do, or I'm using it incorrectly.
Hi Adepters,I'm looking for advice about making DITA specializations in an Arbortext 6.0 environment (initiallyonly attribute and domain specializations).I've got the principles (more or less), not least thanks to Mr Eliot Kimber's excellent tutorials at

I'm trying to view a profiled DITA document (Edit |Profiles | View Profiled Document). My profiles show up fine, but the profiled document doesn't display. Arbortext can't find the profiling.dtd. It's looking for it in c:\windows\system32, not in the Arbortext install directory (see error message below)I feel like my config must be really messed up. Anybody have any tips on where to look to solve this one?BTW, thanks for all the recent help. I'd be lost without this list. Hello everyone,I'm looking for a way to use a relative patch to associate a 3f file with a stylesheet. The properties dialog in Styler allows you to browse to a 3f file, but I want to make this location relative to the custom folder so I don't have to either configure it on each machine or impose a standard location. Although, there will be a standard location for all machines, I would rather have everything looking in the custom folder by default.I tried using %APTCUSTOM%\path\my.3f, but the env. variable doesn't resolve. I'm open to any ideas.Thanks,-Jeff
Hi,I've been assigned for UI enhancement for Arbortext Editor. When the user opens a document with the help of Menu item, system opens a widow providing options to filter the documents. I need to customize this with more user friendly. Here Iam looking for suggestion on the environment to be used for UI customization. Can I use J2EE to achieve our requirement. If so, how can i invoke an .ear from Arbortext editor. It would be really helpful, if you provide some pointers to refer to pickup my task quickly.Thanks,Samba.
Hello!I use Epic 5.1 and Arbortext Editor 5.2. I use Java and ACL in order to create my plugin (most of it is written in Java).I need to detect that the cursor is out of some range when the keys are pressed. So, I need to write a callback within my *.acl file or in Java. I've made a mouse click handler, but the cursor can be moved via keyboard too. Please, give me some piece of advice.
The .dvi file can be opened with pubview, and the index entries appear in Preview. There are no error messages. Tech Support sez they have replicated the problem and are looking into it. >---------->>
To all:I thought I recall when I took the FOSI class (or another) from PTC tenyears or so ago, that I could rename the attributes names to a userfriendly in the editor. I want to rename an attribute of S2bS0 to somethingthe writer understands. I want Epic to use the right value, but the writersees something nicer. I just do not remember.d
I have a very interesting problem that I can't seem to get my hands wrapped around and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.I'm running Arbortext 6.0 M020 64 bit on a Windows 7 64 bit workstation. Everytime I try to print preview a document, using Print Composer,I receive the [preview pending] message in the bottom right corner but the preview never displays and the computer just locks up.Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
HeyI am aware that you can hide specific elements/attributes with ElementOptions/AttributeOptions in the dcf file however I have a problem where I need to hide one of the attribute's value so for example:element <test>attribute @myAttr, possbile values ('Test1', 'Test2', 'Test3')I would like to have element <test> to show only 'Test1' and 'Test2' in some kind of conditional situation so let's say when parent of <test> is <application> then show all attribute values of @myAttr, when parent of <test> is <development> then show only 'Test1' 'Test2' without 'Test3'.Any help with this would be much appreciated! Thanks allMarcin
I'm hitting an issue that I think comes from a classpath issue in Arbortext. I've added to my Java code the following:ClassLoader cl = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader();URL[] urls = ((URLClassLoader)cl).getURLs();for(URL url: urls){ System.out.println(url.getFile());}And I'm getting local environment (not Arbortext default) classes at the beginning of the list and at the end of the list. The jar files at the end of the list are from the APTCLASSPATH, but the ones in the beginning are not. They are also not in my classpath.I actually want my libraries to load first, before the Arbortext libraries, but it appears APTCLASSPATH adds them to the end.So my questions are:1. Is there a way to add my libraries to the start of the classpath?2. Are there other ways to specify classpaths for Arbortext? Thanks, Steve
