I should be able to edit/modify the global coordinate system (CSYS) when starting a new part. But when I open the Edit Definition dialog, the Origin and Orientation tabs are greyed out; inaccessible. I don't understand why.
I want to make a mapkey, which converts a *.stp file into a *.prt file. First step is to convert it into a *.sat file using save as. with a pauseThat saveas name should be reused when naming the the final *.part.How can I get the mapkey to read, store and give the final *.prt that name?
When you want to create or edit a round or chamfer you should see your selections in the "Sets" column, you could select a set from the "Sets" tab and edit individual model edges, this no longer seems available, you can see the sets in the "Pieces" tab and add or delete sets but not individual edges. I am using Creo 4.0 M100. In the youtube video https://youtu.be/XkNwr49vGEw?si=P_WVyUhm12UAtiR1 you can see him using the "Sets" tab, this no longer works for me, when I click on it nothing appears. you used to able to edit individual edges in a set, for instance if you had selected a large set of edges in a set and one of the edges caused the the feature to fail you could locate the one edge in the "sets" column, remove it and carry on, if you try that in the "pieces" column you only get the option to remove the entire set, which means if it is a large set you have to select all the edges again.
Hello, I'm trying to import a drawing file to the prt selected by creo using ProSelectionDrawingGet. However, the error PRO_TK_E_NOT_FOUND appears and cannot proceed. Looking at the meaning, it means no associated drawing found, but I have a drw file in the model file. I would appreciate it if you could let me know if I misunderstood this function or if it was used incorrectly. Thank you.
Hi, The Toolkit API can calculate the model's outer angle size through ProSolidOutlineCompute. This function can exclude some elements such as datum features and curves. Surfaces and hidden features cannot be excluded from ProSolidOutlineCompute() calculations. We'd like to hear your thoughts on ideas for solving these problems. 1. Exclude hidden features and surfaces of the active model, convert to STEP, and then RETRIVE to perform ProSolidOutlineCompute().: It takes a lot of time2. Use ProSolidFeatstatusGet to visit the Geomitem of features excluding surfaces and hidden features to find the minimum and maximum points of XYZ. If you have any better ideas, please help. I am using Creo Parametric Release 10.0 and Datecode10.0.0.0The drawing won't open and says "(title of drawing) cannot be retrieved". Has anyone else had a problem with a drawing not being able to be retrieved?No matter what I try I cannot get the drawing to open. This drawing has many sheets with a lot of information and will take many, many hours to recreate.

Using CREO Parametric 7.0 I am trying to create a forklift mechanism. In the picture, the bottom of the red screw will be attached to a motor that is mounted to the same plate that the bottoms of the tan channels are. As the motor screws upward, it will lift up the grey section. There will be two cables attached to the tan bar running between the two channels. Those cable will then run over the grey bar and back down to the tan hooks. This means that the brown frame will be lifted as the screw lifts the grey frame. My question is, how do I simulate this wire in a way that will allow me to do an Ansys simulation of the forces when the lift is fully extended? I can also use CREO simulate if necessary.
When editing a table field, with a parameter in it. Creo will open the menu manager first before the editing pop-up, which is rather annoying. It seems to be random when it opens the manager first instead of just opening the editing pop-up. This is an extra and rather annoying step when you get the pop-up. What causes this? I have had this annoyance since Creo 3. Creo 3,7,8,10 seem to all be random when it chooses to pop-up the menu manager. Does anyone know how to solve this? Menu Manager Pop-Up Editing Pop-Up
Dear all, We are using color coding in our company. And for defining different areas of insert i am using flexible offset with 0.00 offset and attach offset geometry. Creo 3 it was working fine i.e.; I will use flexible offset and use intent surface filter and color the feature.but in Creo 7, flexible offset will use the base geometry color to color the feature. (still, I can color it, but it will go back original when regenerate). is there any way I can avoid the colour change when regenerating or any other alternative method. Any help will be appreciated.

I have a parameter driven table with a comment column at the end of table in this column each cell gets notes and comments and many times a report symbol. Some of the cells I want to be a specific text color but I find it to change the entire column to the text of any cell color. I believed the comment column to be a dumb column with no unity to any other cells in the column. AM I missing anything here. I attached how I want it to look. I have a model I'm working on understanding / animating. It has a number of datums added within subassemblies.In searching for the easiest way to hide all datum planes (which for some reason don't disappear when I turn off plane visibility) I found a method recommended to:Create a LayerAdd elements to layerHide Layer This is looking pretty good, and when I go to add all the datum-planes using a Rule, all the layers I want to hide are "collected." NOTE: Include submodels is selected. As you can see it shows 194 elements found that match [Type = Datum Plane]When I hit OK however, only the assembly default 3 remain in the filter.See the rules and Options for this selection: When I press "Edit Rules" shown above, the Include Subbodels is no-longer selected...This seems to correlate with the results that I'm getting.Not sure where to go from here. I am currently researching alternative ways of annotating our models, and keep running into road blocks. There has never been a particularly high degree of focus among my predecessors of using metadata/parameters within the model to help drive things. We use find numbers in balloons in our drawings, but deviate from what PTC seems to intend in two ways:Those balloons are custom symbolsThe value of those balloons that is displayed is manually entered textAfter refreshing myself on repeat regions, I figured out how one might use them in combination with assembly-level component parameters to create balloons that auto-populate. However, in order for this to work I had to define those component parameters for each unique part instance in the assembly, including fasteners. Is there not a way to only enter this once per unique part number, rather than instance? And how would I avoid having to recreate the same parameter in each component? Is there a way in creo cabling to bundle several harnesses together and still be able to generate the flats for each harness? We have four harnesses, and are putting sleeving on the common routes and want it to be shown in the model. Hi All,The future of Elements Direct is pretty clear now, it seems:1. Elements direct has entered 'maintenance mode', as no real development efforts are made anymore, it's in some distant corner of the website, and the original development team doesn't exist anymore.2. Creo Direct (positioned as the new direct modeler where we could migrate to) is not going anywhere and isn't positioned as next step for Elements Direct anymore. It's not even mentioned as Creo CAD anymore (only parametric is there now).3. Parametric has some 'direct capabilities', and they seem to work hard to make transitioning to Parametric as easy as possible (migrating 2D drawings for example).So, PTC has clearly decided that Elements Direct is going to be phased out. I would like to know what the future plans of users are. I can think of a few options:1. Switch to Parametric2. Switch to another CAD system3. Hold on as long as possible and keep maintenance4. In Creo 9.0.4.0, in the new ISO_1302_2002_SURF_FIN, there is a selection of manufacturing processes.One of them is "GROUND" This is driven by a parameter : ptc_sf_manufacturing_method. I have some Parts which are without any Datum Planes, Combined States, Relations and so on. Bevor I check them in into Windchill I need to bring the Environment of my Standard Start Part to these "Empty" Parts - What is the best practice for that, because doing this manually is a lot of work.
I'm currently using an 'inlbs' (inches, pounds) template for my projects in Creo Parametric. However, I frequently need to input dimensions that I already know in millimeters. I've tried to directly input mm values while specifying the units (e.g., "50 mm"), hoping Creo would auto-convert them to inches. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work. Has anyone found a way to directly input dimensions in millimeters while using an 'inlbs' template? I'm looking for a solution that eliminates the need to manually convert these values before entering them into Creo. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Maybe I'm jaded but i spent 10 seconds looking at this and it reinforces how cryptic creo can be. A good example would be a physical parameter (length. mass etc). None of this explains how the itemized list relates to actual parameters in the model. It is insanely maddening how non-intuitive this feature is. Most of us are designers and software users, not software engineers. I have CSL loads that I would love to report on a drawing. I copy/paste and its there. That is like a stone tablet. why can't this information be available in a table?
I present to you my failures. I need a better hack. CREO 7.0.3. What?: What I was trying to do is nothing new. Creating an inspection number symbol/mapkey to place and increment next to dimensions. Why?: Because best case I have 11 clicks/selections to place current symbol/relate/set with average probably closer to 17 for one symbol. 150 inspection items x 17 clicks/selections = 2700 clicks/selections. My previous job drafting department refused to do inspection numbers. I can see why now that I do my own drafting and my current job does inspection numbers. Goal?: Select dimension, run mapkey, done. 2 clicks. Solution made within CREO. No 3rd party tools other. I separated it out into steps. I would either combine the code at the end or nest the mapkeys. DONE: Symbol with variable text inside (it is an oval the same as the oval around a dimension if the display is set to inspection). May need to do more here. origin? offset? baked into symbol for easier init
Does anyone know how to make a mapkey (Creo 9+) to consistently select features by name? For example, here is an old one: mapkey sx #sel by menu; #axis; ~ Select `sellist0` `Namelist`1 `A_1`;Super simple, selects the axis "A_1" in nearly every situation in Pro/E. Use it when defining features, use it in sketcher when selecting references, and when dimensioning. Works in part, sketcher, etc.. No need to have axis visible, and no need to scroll the model tree to find it. Super consistent, and always works. How can we do that in Creo? I want to do it (again) for all the normal datums that are standard for my start files. It's extremely useful for defining sketch placement, making measurements, placing dimensions, defining references, etc.. Unfortunately, I don't see how to use the new selection by name spaghetti of Creo to do it consistent for all situations. Good day. We have a large assembly and want to break it up into smaller representations as would typically be the case. We have a large Bill of Materials (BOM) for the Master representation and then of course the smaller BOMs appear for the step-by-step assembly representations. Problem is that the index/item number changes within the smaller BOMs compared to the master rep BOM. Is there a way to match the master rep. BOM index/item number to the smaller BOM for the smaller representation? Another problem is that the smaller representations cannot be ballooned from the large BOM as the large BOM is linked to the Master rep. Is there a way to allow ballooning a smaller representation ISO views from the Master rep. BOM?
