New in 8.2 – jQuery 3 Upgrade

In the 8.2 release, we have upgraded our Mashup Runtime to jQuery 3.2.  This will give the platform a much needed upgrade to its core visualization library which will bring bug fixes, better performance, security enhancements, HTML5 compatibility and support for current browsers.  We will continue to upgrade all of our libraries across the platform with each ThingWorx release to ensure we are current and optimized.   We are releasing this functionality in 8.2 as an early preview and to enable regression testing of your ThingWorx applications.  In the Next Gen Composer, simply click on User Preferences and look for this setting:     Enabling jQuery3 runtime   JQuery 3 does introduce some new breaking changes (not from PTC!) that may affect existing apps.  We recommend turning on the JQuery3 option and testing your apps as soon as possible so there is time to fix any issues.  Please let PTC know if you are finding issues through our support s

Overview: Navigate 1.6 uses SAP ODataConnector that enables the connection to the SAP Netweaver Gateway through the ODdata specification. It is a specialized implementation of the ODataConnector. Quick reference notes on 7.4 licensing

ThingWorx 7.4 introduces a new licensing system. A license file (license.bin) needs to be placed in the ThingworxPlatform folder. A new license file is also required if you upgrade from 7.4  to a major or minor release (not service pack-level releases). For example:• If you are using version 7.3, a license is not required.• If you upgrade from version 7.4.1 to version 7.4.2, a license upgrade is not required.• If you upgrade from version 7.4.3 to version 7.5.2, a license upgrade is required.Refer to the Installing ThingWorx 7.4 guide or Upgrading ThingWorx 7.4 guide for detailed process steps.Paid customers would have unlimited use of entities for 7.4.0. Troubleshooting ThingWorx Analytics – Common Issues in 8.2 & 8.3

Continuing our series of Troubleshooting ThingWorx Analytics installations, in this IoT Tech Tip we will cover two items have been appearing for many users.   Error 1069 Encountered with Native Windows Installation of ThingWorx Analytics 8.2   In some instances, when a user successfully installs ThingWorx Analytics (TWAS) to a Windows Server operating system, they will encounter an error where TWAS will report an Error 1069: The Service did not start due to logon failure.   This can occur with any individual Service that is created by the installation, the following fix should work in addressing the issue.   Primary Reason This Happens:   This error can be encountered when the user provides incorrect credentials for associating the Services to an account during installation. Creating an Excel model for use with ThingWorx Analytics Manager

One of the interesting features of ThingWorx Analytics Manager is its ability to run distributed models created in Excel (and more of course).  Most people having been tasked with understanding data have built models in Excel and have sometimes built quite complex models (or even applications) with it.   The ability to tie these models to real data coming from various systems connected through ThingWorx and operationalise their execution is a really simple way for people to leverage their existing work and I.P. on a connected analytics journey.   To demonstrate this power and ease of implementation, I created a sample data set with historical data, traffic profile, and a simple anomaly detection model to execute with Analytics Manager.  (files are attached)   The online help center was quite helpful in explaining the process of Creating the Excel Workbook, however I got stuck at the XML mapping stage.  The Analytics and Excel documentation both neglect to

Using Influx to store Value Stream properties from Kepware in ThingWorx 8.4

How to score new data with ThingWorx Analytics ?   The following is valid starting with ThingWorx Analytics (TWA) 8.3.0   Overview   Once a training model has been created, one of the main objective is to score new data to predict the value for the goal ThingWorx Analytics can score new data in 2 ways: Batch scoring Real time scoring Batch scoring   Batch scoring will be used when a large amount of data needs to be scored. To perform a batch scoring we will usually follow steps similar to the below ones: Upload the historic data Create a new model with this historic data Upload new data – the one to be scored Perform a prediction job to score those new data Retrieve the prediction job result Uploading the new data can be done in different ways. If using a large amount of data, it can be easier to upload the data via a csv file in a similar way as the historic data. This is the way used in ThingWorx Analytics Builder. How to Rapidly Develop ThingWorx IIoT Extensions with the Eclipse Plugin

The term ‘Extension’ or ‘Plugin’ often has many different meanings. For example, from the point of view of a Product Manager it often means an ‘easy’ way to add additional functionality to an existing piece of software. Question: Is there a Security log entry added when a user is refused access to Composer?Answer:The Security log is mainly for user login and authentication items; since this is not authentication per se, we don't log any messages there.
