Kepware

I'm not even exactly sure how to ask this question so if I seem ignorant that's only because I am. I assume that I'm having an issue understanding a fundamental concept of interacting with an OPC UA server.  I'm attempting to create an OPC UA client in Python to ultimately read values that originated from Modbus PLC registers. The targeted PLC is successfully connected to KepServerEX6 and values from registers are being pulled into KepServerEX Project>Channel>Device>Tags perfectly. The data (values from PLC registers) is being and has been successfully used from this KepServer by another application for several years so KepServer and connections to multiple PLCs (multiple brands) is working just fine. Python code completely aside, in a 3rd party OPC UA client application (UaExpert), I can connect to the OPC UA server, I can see a lot of things about the server/KepWare, (Root/Objects/Server, ServerCapabilities, ServerDiagnostics, etc) but the Objec

I am using KepServerEx (version 6.16) OPC DA client to access ABB MicroSCADA OPC server data.I am able to access OPC tags using the connection parameters. But when trying to read data using the OPC channel, i am getting the BAD vartype errorPictures (1-5) If I directly add OPC server to OPC client, and import tags to it from the same server, i am able to read all the values.Pictures (6-7) 

Hello community,Is there a way to check what the real error is in KEPServerEX for SQL diagnostics? This doesn't help at all:Date Time Level Source Event12/08/2024 16:39:18 Error Data Logger Plug-in Unknown error while executing query in table 'mytable' for log group 'datalog-azure'. I am guessing it's something about security/privileges since I am trying to log data in an Azure database.I am able to see tables, columns when I am mapping the data but unable to write values to table.Using app version 6.16 (V6.16.203.0)  Any help is appreciated. Cheers, 

I am trying to configure Datalogger and keep running into issues in the configuration. I have created my DSN correctly and it successfully passed the connection test. But whenever I try to select the table name, the dropdown list does not show any of the tables in my database. I attached a screenshot of what shows up in the dropdown.

How to make computers that have different IP scopes, but in one domain to be read on the client's computer? Or is there a way to add servers manually instead of choosing from the Microsoft network?Me and my coworkers still haven't figured out how to read the servers on computers that have different ip scopes but in the same domain.    Hoping to get a solution 

Good morning, I have a problem connecting to some OPC UA Clients.Sometimes I get this warning:Warning OPC UA Client XYZ.B&R | Read request failed on device. | Status description = 'The operation timed out.', Status code = 0X800A0000.When it happens some tags are in 'Unknown' quality and until I force a synchronous write the status cannot return to "Good" status. I tried to change "Asynchronous Reqst Timeout", but increasing it immediately returns the value to the default of "1000". Let me know please.Thank you.Regards

I am working on a solution that involves creating tags using the Kepware Configuration API. I have been able to find documentation for and create normal tags, but I can't seem to find any information on how to create Advanced Tags using the API. I have looked through the Advanced Tags help guide as well as the Kepware Server help guide but it doesn't have any documentation on how to create advanced tags using the API (unless I am missing it somehow). Can anyone confirm if advanced tags can be created from the API and if so is there documentation on how to construct the API call? If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have upgraded KepServerEx.V5 to V.6. It can communicate with ControlLogix before upgrading. After upgrading to V.6. 

Hi all, Fairly short question, but is there a way to get all tags among all tag groups on a kepware device using the configuration API? I am finding that I need to be specific in my API calls and specify the tag group, but I'd like to be able to get all of the tags for the device in one call. Thanks!

Hi Kepware friends!I need to create two calculated tags in Kepware based on another configured tag: ArrayLength:Compute the length of the String Array Tag as an int ArrayToString:Concatenate an array tag into a delimited string. Like ValueArr0 ^ ValueArr1 ^ ValueArr2 ...... I guess the UDD is the solution, but I don't know how to do it. Kind regards O

Not a huge deal but after using the device discovery it would be nice to select 50 or 60 of the few hundred devices and have KEPServerEX do the tag generation on each vs going into the properties of each and then using the create tags option over and over.

In our project, we have planned to add lots of devices and also plan to add all the associated tags which would mean adding the tags 1 by 1. I was going through the automatic tag generation option but even after I click on 'Create tags' in 'Tag Generation' option, nothing happens. How do I enable this?

Hi, I want to migrate a server. I have 3 servers in the same domain 1 server for WinCC SCADA I'll call AServer B is the standby Server now and is connected to WinCC Server A with OPC DA. and now I want to migrate Kepserver from B to C. I tried connecting Server C with Server A WinCC (OPCServer.WinCC.1) while Server B was still connected to Server A. the entire setup is the same as server B.and, from server C, I can scan all tags from server A WinCCbut it takes 1-2 minutes for this pop-up appear. when I try to open quick client, the quality is always bad, and sometimes "out of service"and there is a message said "Failed to establish callback......" Is there a possibility that the WinCC Server from server A can only connect to 1 Kepserver with OPC DA? 

In the projects property editor you can add a description and a title but they are not shown in the project tree. 

Network adapter is not shown. So getting BAD in client file.    Following action also done but still not showing it. Start the server_config.exe as Administrator Go to KEPServerEX 6\server_config.exe > right click Properties > Compatibility > Change Settings for all users > Run this program as administrator > Enable.     Please suggest what to do for Quality as good in client file 

Has anyone tried connecting to the A/B Powermonitor 5000?  The Rockwell manual says we can configure RSLinx as a SLC5/03 as it supports PCCC addressing.  I tried SLC5/05 in KepwareEX and this didn't work.  Neither did the PLC-5 family,  Thanks

Hello,  I am reading Channel.Device.System*_Error tag via OPC DA Client of the SCADA. I am able to read tags of the device but can't read the _Error tag and quality is bad, whenever I restart the kepserver computer.After started the quick client I can see the tag quality is good.Why this is happen? So I'm tasked with resurrecting neglected OPC connections and I'm encountering a situation where i have to use a custom interface design XML file with KepServerEX 5.12.140.0 to specify tags from Sartorius AMBR systems. I'm also encountering an issue where the OPC UA Configuration Manager that came with KepServerEX 5.12.140.0 seems to be creating a bad URI that can't be parsed by newer software because it puts whitespace in the URI string?'C:\Program Files (x86)\Kepware\KEPServerEX 5\plugins\connection_sharing.dll'. Reason: 'Connection sharing plug-in failed to load due to lack of driver support.'am also encountering the following error "Unable to load plug-in DLL  Wondering if an upgrade to 6.5 will solve my problems or if i need a more expansive license key or if i should be looking at Kepware Server instead: if there's a driver OOB for KepServerEX if i just get a different license type that will allow me to use drivers and not just a CID XML file. Or if I upgrade

If my KepServerEx V6 instance has two separate network connections to a pair of EN4TR com cards in a CLX rack,  This is to give me redundant com paths to the critical systems. Is there a way to configure them in a redundant\failover architecture within KepServerEx? I know this can be done with an external router but I was hoping there was a native solution.  

Greetings, I know nothing about kepware, other than it gets data from my PLCs for me.  i dont setup the topics, i pretty much never get on the server.  not my job. However, i am having trouble getting info from an oracle database, after having what i think i needed installed on the server.  There were some OPCDB addons or something like that, as well as upgrading oracle on the server from v12 to 18 maybe?  I got the user and password from our IT folks. I can connect to and see the columns i want to pull the data from, however when i try to actually pull data, i get the error attached.  i asked our IT folks and they said i had the correct login info to read from the oracle database and they suggested i get on here... I program PLCs, so i may not understand what you say, but hopefully i can show it to someone who will know what to do with it

Our objective is to supply test criteria to the ECU and capture the results directly into the MES system VIA KEPServerEX 6.Given our constraints, we are considering using gateways that can convert CAN Bus protocols (CAN 2.0a/b and CAN/J1939) to more common protocols like TCP, UDP, or OPC UA. Hello everyone,I am trying to use Kepware Ex Datalogger with FloatArray type.I have selected all items from the device into datalog configuration in Narrow Table Format. When I trigger my DataLog, It only logs data for tags other than Array type tags and I get below error in Kepware. "Error Data Logger Plug-in Unable to query recordset on Log Group 'DataLog_abc_Profile'. Reason: String data, right truncation" I have not configured individual elements of Array type tags rather I have selected direct tags' name in datalog items. Is my configuration OK or I will need to configure individual element for data logging?
