Hello Everyone. (e^-pi)^x , solve ? Thanks in advance. Regards.
Hello,I run into the situation frequently where I need to select the lesser of greater of two equations. Suppose I have equation A and equation B. I've input say 6 values for A and B in a single column matrix and evaluated each. I would like to define variable C as the maximum of A or B output for each row. I attached a worksheet that demonstrates my problem.
I want to pass a table of data into Mathcad. Each row of data is like fluid_description (string), fluid_density (real value with units), fluid_viscosity (real value with units)I have succeeded in sending a matrix of numerical values with and without units, and also individual string values. But can't seem to find how to send a matrix of strings. Also worth mentioning that whilst for now I'm using the API, in future it would be intended to migrate this to Mathcad gateway.Any advice welcome.
Hi everyone,I seem to need the help of the forum often lately... I need for test purposes to generate a sinus-wave with randomly varying frequency (and possibly also amplitude, but that is the lesser problem). Something like an oscillator whose frequency is not perfectly stable. Or an oscillator whose frequency setting adjustment button would be slightly turned right and left randomly by a small amount. Something like this:I attached my solution, but I am not happy with it at all. Obviously the "randomness" becomes higher and higher with the time, and for the same reason there are unwished jumps in the later part of the simulated signal.I understand that the problem is the time variable "t" in the equation A*sin(2*pi*f(t)*t) .But at the moment I can find no good simple way to correct the behaviour.Maybe I am missing something obvious ... I will be grateful for any hint.Best regardsClaudio
I understand that the Excel component does not "know" about units of measure internally. But if want to enter the value for a variable into the Excel component in a particular set of units, how do I do it?For example, I have a variable "Power" in the MCP 3 which uses units of MW, e.g.:Power := 10 MWIf I evaluate Power in MCP 3, by default, I get the following:Power = (1 x 10^7) WAnd 1 x 10^7 is also the value I get in the Excel Component if I create an Input Expression and set it equal to "Power".But, if I want to have the value in the Excel to be 10 (i.e. MW), how do I make that happen? Is there some way to implement the Input Expression so that I get the value in the correct units? Thanks in advance.--Doug

Sorry if I am being a bit dense with this...I created a table of values in the MCP 3 Excel component. In the Outputs area, I set a variable ("Load") equal to a row of cells using an Output Expression multiplied by a unit (MW).Outside of the Excel component, I evaluate Load and I get, for example, the following:Load = [5.2 3.2 3.2 3.2 3.9] MWI have a few questions about this...One, when I looked at some YouTube tutoriials for the Excel component in which something very similar was done, the result of the evaluation was a vertical column of numbers rather than the horizontal row I get. Why is my evaluated result horizontal when the tutorial result is vertical?Second, what is this variable in MCP terms? Is it a vector or a range variable?Third, how do I use my variable. For example, if I wanted to set a variable, say, Load_3 to be equal to the 5th value in my vector (3.9), what would the syntax be? "x=Load(4)" does not work since my variable does not seem to be a vector or matrix (is it a
I am just saying. they buy companies and then the packages don't work together. Like what happened to cocreate??? I've been working on other projects and now need to integrate drawings (like Imagination Engineer can do) with Mathcad (any version will work but would prefer 14) but due to packaging & of course License issues I can't load older version of product that work with a drawing program like Imagination Engineer???
HiAttached is a mcdx file. I'm a novice at Mathcad. I have the value of E expressed in MPa and the value of I expressed in mm^4. When I multiply these two value Mathcad doesn't return proper units. Can someone let me know where I have gone wrong.Kind RegardsSriprakash

hi all, i'm using minimize to "fit" a function in prime 2. However, the result simply mimics my initial guess! even as i change the initial guesses. anything i should peak at before i upload my sheet.
HelloI want to see all my excel sheet componant in Prime 3.1.Do you know how to reduce sheet size ?When i move grip area it reduces the number of columns or lines and not the size.Thank you
Hi everyone,it is possible that I already posted a similar question in the past , but this one is a slightly different problem. The physical background is the fatigue calculation derived from random vibration with a known PSD. There are many literature sources for that, I will just mention a good practical summary by Tom Irvine (hope the link will work), or just google "Estimating Fatigue Damage from Stress Power Spectral Density Function".Now my problem is: the input for these approaches is always a continuous integrable function like for example this example from that paper:Obviously the units of these function are the square of the input quantity divided by Hz (for stress for example ksi**2/Hz or MPa**2/Hz). In this way the square root of the integral of the function will provide the RMS of the input quantity (in this example 6.64 ksi). Now let's say I have a measured time signal (it is actually a vibration velocity, but it would be no problem to convert it in stress, so that i
I have an output issue with mathcad Prime. I am missing a negative sign. I have attached PDF and actual Prime and mathcad files.
Hello Everyone. Not know to graph f(x):= e^x - (1 / {e^[x*1i]}^1i) + [1/(e^pi)]*{[tan(x)]^2 - [cot(x)]^2} ? Thanks in advance. Regards.
I have 2D matrix (NxM) created with indices which I like to plot in 3D. I wish to change the axes to display not the indices but rather the actual vector that have generated them (with units). Please see the attachment. How can I do that?
I need a little help. Why isn't this working... How am I supposed to solve the system (except using a matrix without units or even this method but without units)
Hi,I'm using a Mathcad Prime 3.1 Express version and when trying to open the program an Error informed of an Unhandled exception error which information was in a hidden folder of the app data.I attach the files of the error to this post, hoping for someone to know how solve it and willing to help me.Thank you,C.O.
Hello,I would like to know if it is possible to solve a system of elliptic partial differential equations in Mathcad 15. Mathcad help contains a solved example of one elliptic partial differential equation. There is however no information about a system of elliptic PDEs. Is Mathcad 15 capability to solve a system of PDEs limited only to parabolic and hyperbolic equations? Best regardsRafal
I recently obtained a new work computer running 64-bit Windows 7. I have a single user license for Mathcad 14.0 with the Add-On Collection. I uninstalled Mathcad from my old 32-bi Windows XP machine. I had tremendous difficulty getting the software installed on the new machine. I also have personal license at home runing on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine that installed relatively easily and works fine, so I know it was possible. The difference is that my primary account on my home machine has full administrator privileges, whereas my work machine is much more restricted. Here's the procedure that worked for me. Hopefully, it can help somebody else.Installing Mathcad 14.0 M020 with Add-On Collection on 64-bit Windows 71.) Ideally, run the entire installation from an account with full administrator privileges. However, you can run from a standard account as long as you obtain local machine administrator privileges (which is what was done here)."*.exe" files should be run with "Run as Adminis
Hi community,Here I submit for revision and correction the results of a big formula to get the density of a mixture of ethanol and water given the temperature in degree Celsius (t) and the alcoholic strength by mass (p) expressed as decimal. The goal is to reproduce an alcoholometry table attached as a pdf file where the formula is given together with the reduced result table .I attach also the Mathcad worksheet where I try to reproduce the table by applying the formula to different values of temperature and alcoholic strength of the mixture.Thank you for any help!Juan.
I have been told by PTC advisor that Mathcad 14 is not compatible with Windows 8.1.So I downloaded Mathcad 15 and found that would not intall either.I have installed Mathcad Prime but without 15 Prime is not fully functional. It seems I will have to abandon Mathcad and use other maths programmes - unless anyone has any ideas ?Regards, Andy.
Hello everybody !I am just curious if the first argument of polyroots has some (useful) meaning (see highlighted region in attached), since subsequent calculations in the worksheet work fine. The equation originates from the simple DE : dT(z)/dz = [deltaH/cpm(T)] * dgCO(z)/dz , with the initial conditions : T(0) = T0 and gCO(0) = some value.I suppose that's something coming from the cuisine of muPad symbolic engine...Note that value displayed as first argument at polyroots may change on re-opening the file.Best regards, Liv.
I thought this was quite useful but I couldn't find a single post here or elsewhere on how to do it. Mathcad's solver is a bit temperamental so feeding it good guesses can be important. Other programs I've used offer the option to use last solution as the guesses. Since I don't seem to see that option I generated a program to do it. Here's the original post for the problem I was trying to solve. I'm just posting this stand-alone to enhance findability: Solve block problem (3.1)Credit to Valery for pointing me in this direction. This is probably an overly complicated example, but the takeaway is guesses can be fed into a solve block (when it's called as a function). And a program can be used to read the last solution as new guesses when it calls the solve block. Maybe there are more elegant ways to do it, but it seems like a good trick to have in your bag. It would be nice it Mathcad offered this a built-in option. I expe
