Mathcad

I don't know how many are aware of this, so I'm posting some important information.   Starting January 1st next year (2018) PTC will make it's products available by subscription only. https://www.ptc.com/en/news/2017/ptc-accelerates-subscription-business-model Basically, legal ransomware. If you don't keep paying them, you will be denied access to your own IP.   My understanding is that this new scheme will apply to all PTC products, other than one obscure product, so that includes Mathcad. I believe that existing perpetual licenses will continue to be perpetual (hard to see how it could be anything else, since that's how they were sold), but going foward you will either have to pay every year, or lose access to your own work.

Hi, Our issue is that some of our Mathcad Prime sheets stops being able to calculate – especially when we are using the program for calculating Fourierseries/-integrals. The documents work just fine when we enter the calculations at first, but when closed and reopened it does not work anymore. We have tried different settings in the “calculate” menu, but we haven’t been able to fix the problem. I have linked to a document, that won’t calculate anymore.Thank you in advantage.  

In MathCad 15, we were able to create styles for Headings, Titles, Subtitles, etc.  (dialog box at Format | Style...)  This was very handy to change the format of all the Headings at one time from one style to another.Is this same functionality possible in Prime 6?  As far as I can tell, I would have to individually find and select each Heading in the document and change its format.  This will become very tedious in large documents.

I have a quadratic with solve routine, but I cannot adjust the precision, as the results tab is greyed out.  Does anyone know how to adjust?        

The 6 is not good number: 666 Ward No. 6 by Anton Chekhov etc I am waiting for Prime 7. The 7 is a good number: 7 dimension in SI 7 days in week 7 notes in a scale 7 colors of the rainbow 7 ancient sages 7 Wonders of the World etc   What would you have in Prime 7 in first line?

Is there a way to find, and highlight, all locations and equations a variable is used in within a worksheet?  Similar to trace dependents in Excel   Mathcad 15.0   Thanks, Matt

Hi, I am trying to replicate an example I was given of plotting a bessel filter response. The example was completed with MathCad2.0 whilst I am using MathCad6 (if that matters). Everytime I try to plot the function I get an error saying "Plotting failed.Replace complex values and NaNs by real numbers". Can you please advise what I am doing wrong, I thought by taking the absolute value of the function I wouldn't have any imaginary component? I've attached the example and my worksheet for reference of the work.        

when printing Mathcad docs to PDF, they print as text error instead.  We are using output from Mathcad 15 ver 50 to print PDF's using Adobe DC Reader. They are being converted to text error msg. See attachment. Has anybody seen this

So Mathcad Prime 6 has a new symbolic engine.   There's no indication within the product what the symbolic engine is. However, if you poke around in the installation directory, there's a new folder called Axiom with an executable for the computer algebra system called FriCAS somwhere inside.   So I guess the new symbolic engine is based on this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FriCAS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axiom_(computer_algebra_system)   [edited to include reference to FRICAS]

  I am trying to use Given-Find to solve for 2 unknows.  Mathcad gives error saying this variable is undefined.  Please see Mathcad attached.  Wondered how to fix this.  Mathcad is attached.

Good Day. I need your help with the following equation. I cannot get a solution for β. In the problem statement it mentions that α in degrees is 43.2 which in radians is 43.2/57.3 = 0.75. Then, the problem mentions that β = L/R (inductance divided by resistance), with R = 10 ohm, and Vm (maximum value of sine) is 120Vrms * √2 = 169.7Vpeak. When I substitute these values in, and try to solve for β I get an undefined solution (see attached worksheet). Please help me find what am I doing wrong. Thank you.
