Mathcad

Hi,I am trying to export the data set,  e.g. the numbers in a matrix, generated in MathCAD 3.0, to a simple text file. Can anyone tell me how this can be done? Many thanks,Anna

So, about a year ago my company allowed us to purchase Mathcad Prime and we converted all of our old Mathcad files over to that format.  Also, of course, all of our new files were made with prime.  Then, around 6 months ago, our company was bought out and now we only have Mathcad 15.  Is there a way that I can convert those files back to xmcd so that I can work with them again?

Hi all,After getting the correct answer for the if statement part of my equation see post - Three if Statement Formula‌ (I have altered this figure to exactly what I want now) I now thought it would be great if I could check multiple figures at one time using a matrix for my inputs. I've come across a stopping point straight away!! BoooooAgain I'm not so wise with Mathcad so I look to your guys opinion on this issue I have.Please find attached the formula I'm currently working on. (Mathcad 15 format)Best RegardsJonno

I've attached an image of my work below. It seems like it should be very simple to have Mathcad evaluate the expressions highlighted in red so that the entire matrix is much simpler. But I've tried all the symbolic keywords and none of them seem to work. What am I missing?

Hi All,I'm strugling with the following problem:I'm calculating von Mises stresses where all the variables are known except TF and BM. These two parameters are defined only as the initial guess values. I'd like to find maximum value for TF and BM for which von Mises stress is equal to the allowable stress. Is this even possible to solve with given/find commands?I appreciate your help in this matter.

Has anyone had any experience with "Engineering Equation Solver"? =============I could use MATHCAD or MATLAB but I might as well use excel if I am going to use one of those. I have used EES for a couple of years now and the true power in it is being able to simultaneously solve systems of equations. For example, I could input 5 equations with 5 unknowns and it would solve for all 5 unknowns instantly without any manipulation to any of the equations. It could even simultaneously solve 100 equations with 100 unknowns!! I could pretty much input them as how they were written in a textbook or scientific paper without manipulation. If I was to do that in MATLAB, MATHCAD, or Excel, I would need to then waste a lot of time setting up a matrix to solve and you could imagine how time consuming that would be with 10+ equations/unknowns. I want to change a variable name everywhere in one worksheet.For example, I want to change a variable name "TEST" to "TEST2".But, it is hundreds of times used in the worksheet and the manual editing seems impossible.Is there any way to do that automatically?

Hi everyone,I'm trying to copy/paste an Excel component from one worksheet to another (in order to avoid having to copy manually all data and properties). But sometimes I receive the following error message: " cannot be accessed. The file may be corrupted, located on a server that is not responding, or read-only. A funny fact is that I checked everything and none of these conditions do apply: the worksheet works perfectly fine, I'm not working on a server and the file is not read-only. Even stranger is that sometimes copy/paste works, and sometimes it doesn't, without changing anything.I tried to use the Windows Task Manager to end Mathcad and Excel processes but it's not effective at all. I'm usgin Mathcad 15 and Excel 2010. Does anyone know how to avoid this?Regards,Antoine

My company runs Windows 7 and  I have trouble with connecting to an ODBC Access 2007+ database in the new Access format *.accdb.  Has anyone else been experiencing the same problem.  Mathcad will connect through the ODBC window, but when you pick the table in the database the connection seems to get stuck and will eventually time out and crash the Mathcad file.  I also have a rather restrictive I.T. department, but I have been assured that I have full rights to the software on my machine.  Any suggestions our possible solutions would be appreciated.ThanksDean Moore

Hello folks,I've got data here of a surface roughness measurement. I'm trying several smoothing functions in order to get the main features of the surface. medsmooth, ksmooth work, supsmooth however doesn't work. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?I'm running "real" mathcad; i.e. MC15 on a 64 byte, Win7 machine. A file with data is attached.Raiko

Making some progress... that book I bought can't come soon enough.  But one more for this week...In the attached worksheet, I've attempted to do a repeated calculation without resorting to a program in which I want the limits of integration to come from a vector.  This is just the first thing I thought of, there could very well be a better way.  My list of wavelengths in this case is generated by calculation but in the real world each one could be arbitrary and be entered manually.But I'm getting the "A name is required here" message which doesn't (yet) mean much to me.  Further, the expression seems to only evaluate one value rather than create a long list of calculated values.  I'm actually a bit surprised that it calculates anything at all given that there is an error right before it.I was hoping someone here could explain to me what is going on.

Starting to feel a bit moronic here.I've included a short worksheet illustrating my problem.  I'm trying to graduate from simple calculation to using vectors.  As you will see, I have an equation for M for which I can calculate a value easily enough.  Units work out OK too.When I attempt to make a vector (in my world, this lambda equates to a wavelength but that's irrelevant to the problem), I get an error complaining of the units.Not really sure if that's really the issue here; can anybody else shed some light?

In Mathcad prime 3.1 I don't seem to be able to show the borders around an equation. This was very simple in the old Mathcad 15. I tried to follow the instructions on the user guide (select region, right click and choose Properties) but I just don't get the right menu. What am I not seeing?Thanks

I downloaded the free version of Prime 3.1 and now am trying to install the free 30 day trial. Everytime I go to log on so I can do so, this message pops up:The bottom link sends you to a webpage where you are asked to change your password. I have tried this numerous times and know the password is correct because I am able to log in to my account to write this post. I have also attempted this at different times throughout the day to try and see if that helped, and it has not. Has anyone else had this issue resolved?Thanks in advance for any and all help provided!

I have always had a problem deciding when I should use pencil and paper and when I should use Mathcad.  After all Euler, Laplace and Fourier didn't have Mathcad.  Recently I decided to look at some problems in the text "Operational Mathematics" by Ruel V. Churchill (2nd Edition McGraw-Hill 1958).  Chapter 1 introduces the Laplace transform and shows how it can be used to solve certain differential equations.  Attempting to solve one of the Examples in Mathcad quickly revealed the limitation of symbolic operator "parfrac" and the difficulty of solving differential equations with unusual initial conditions.  I attach a Mathcad Prime 3.0 file describing my experience with "Example 4 p 21."  This problem involves a third order differential equation with two values for Y(t), a value for Y'(0), but no value for Y''(0).  To solve the problem and obtain a unique solution you must introduce a second variable Y''(0) = C.  In the long run a combination of p

I'm a MathCAD new user and am confused by what I'm seeing.  In the attached example, I've created a range variable and used it in a calculation.  The result, B, is shown and is apparently NOT a vector.To the right, I've done the same thing except that the range variable on goes from 0 to 8.  In this case the result, D, IS a vector.  If I change the value of j to 9, the result changes in appearance and is no longer a vector.I don't understand what's going on here which is, naturally, impairing my ability to solve a real problem.  I seem to be confused as to what constitutes a vector.

Every engineer, mathematician and scientist is born knowing that the vector dot product is the sum of the element-by-element multiplication of the components of the two vectors. But occasionally, when our brain isn't paying full attention, things don't work out as intended ...StuartPS.  I blame Valery for this one.  If he hadn't posed that clock question, I wouldn't have tried to generalize it and spend a couple of minutes wondering why my previously fine power series expansion formula wasn't working when applied to complex number bases.
