I receive the message "Failed to launch server connection" in Mathcad 15 all of a sudden. What can be done?
Hi,is there anyone running a Mathcad license sever on a linux machine?I could get linux files: lmgrd, lmutil and ptc_dbut could not get or create the license.datHas anybody managed to do this?If there is no way to create a linux-license-file, I have to make a windows-machine act as a licanse server 😞Best regards and thanks in advance,Guido Harneit(Sorry if this is off topic, but I couldn't find a licensing group)
Making some progress... that book I bought can't come soon enough. But one more for this week...In the attached worksheet, I've attempted to do a repeated calculation without resorting to a program in which I want the limits of integration to come from a vector. This is just the first thing I thought of, there could very well be a better way. My list of wavelengths in this case is generated by calculation but in the real world each one could be arbitrary and be entered manually. But I'm getting the "A name is required here" message which doesn't (yet) mean much to me. Further, the expression seems to only evaluate one value rather than create a long list of calculated values. I'm actually a bit surprised that it calculates anything at all given that there is an error right before it.I was hoping someone here could explain to me what is going on.
The week of June 7th was a busy one for the PTC Mathcad business – Brent and I spent the week in Nashville, TN, presenting on the PTC Mathcad product release schedule and the new Engineering Notebook integration with PTC Creo. We also met with many customers in the PTC Mathcad booth at the Solutions Expo. We were excited by the overall customer engagement, and look forward to working on some of the projects we were presented with.Regarding the product release plan, we communicated our current work on Prime 4.0 which includes significant improvements to data visualization (plotting), large document performance, equation wrapping, area locking, area protection, calculation engine improvements, copy/paste multiple regions, a new Calculation Server, and other improvements. While the final configuration of Prime 4.0 could change over the next year, we are diligently working towards addressing the most critical needs of our customers.Even though it’s a year away we’re already thinking about
Starting to feel a bit moronic here.I've included a short worksheet illustrating my problem. I'm trying to graduate from simple calculation to using vectors. As you will see, I have an equation for M for which I can calculate a value easily enough. Units work out OK too. When I attempt to make a vector (in my world, this lambda equates to a wavelength but that's irrelevant to the problem), I get an error complaining of the units. Not really sure if that's really the issue here; can anybody else shed some light?
In Mathcad prime 3.1 I don't seem to be able to show the borders around an equation. This was very simple in the old Mathcad 15. I tried to follow the instructions on the user guide (select region, right click and choose Properties) but I just don't get the right menu. What am I not seeing? Thanks
I downloaded the free version of Prime 3.1 and now am trying to install the free 30 day trial. Everytime I go to log on so I can do so, this message pops up:The bottom link sends you to a webpage where you are asked to change your password. I have tried this numerous times and know the password is correct because I am able to log in to my account to write this post. I have also attempted this at different times throughout the day to try and see if that helped, and it has not. Has anyone else had this issue resolved? Thanks in advance for any and all help provided!
I have always had a problem deciding when I should use pencil and paper and when I should use Mathcad. After all Euler, Laplace and Fourier didn't have Mathcad. Recently I decided to look at some problems in the text "Operational Mathematics" by Ruel V. Churchill (2nd Edition McGraw-Hill 1958). Chapter 1 introduces the Laplace transform and shows how it can be used to solve certain differential equations. Attempting to solve one of the Examples in Mathcad quickly revealed the limitation of symbolic operator "parfrac" and the difficulty of solving differential equations with unusual initial conditions. I attach a Mathcad Prime 3.0 file describing my experience with "Example 4 p 21." This problem involves a third order differential equation with two values for Y(t), a value for Y'(0), but no value for Y''(0). To solve the problem and obtain a unique solution you must introduce a second variable Y''(0) = C. In the long run a combination of p
I'm a MathCAD new user and am confused by what I'm seeing. In the attached example, I've created a range variable and used it in a calculation. The result, B, is shown and is apparently NOT a vector. To the right, I've done the same thing except that the range variable on goes from 0 to 8. In this case the result, D, IS a vector. If I change the value of j to 9, the result changes in appearance and is no longer a vector.I don't understand what's going on here which is, naturally, impairing my ability to solve a real problem. I seem to be confused as to what constitutes a vector.
Every engineer, mathematician and scientist is born knowing that the vector dot product is the sum of the element-by-element multiplication of the components of the two vectors. But occasionally, when our brain isn't paying full attention, things don't work out as intended ...StuartPS. I blame Valery for this one. If he hadn't posed that clock question, I wouldn't have tried to generalize it and spend a couple of minutes wondering why my previously fine power series expansion formula wasn't working when applied to complex number bases.
The number of outputs and inputs in the add-in is limited to only six outputs and six inputs. This seems entirely arbitrary. Is this limitation only in the trial version? Is there any easy way to tweak the add-in to increase this number?
Hey ,I need to wheter MathCAD 15.0 can support SolidWorks 2009 ? Any idea ? Thanks in advance
Hello all,My first post, I've used mathcad for pretty basic things till recently. Is there a way to use a for or while look to create an array of functions where the functions are dependent on the previous element within the array? This assume we define the first element of course.an example would be f(x)=[2x, (2x)+1, ((2x)+1)+2, (((2x)+1)+2)+3, ...(nest)+n)]Ideally f(#)[index would call the correct index: f(2)[0= 4.... and f(2)[3=10Hope that make sense,Sami
Hello , i have a doubt, in the right side math14 i have a root function and im triying to do the same in the left side with prime 2.0, someone can help me please? Thanks so much.
Hi, friends! I’m comparing wind loads calculated as per ASCE 7-05 and Russian SNiP 2.01.07-85. I’m not familiar with Russian SNiP code, so I don’t have confidence on my calculations. Anyway, the wind loads from SNiP code are too smaller than those from ASCE 7-05, so I want it to be confirmed by those who experienced this code. If there is someone who knows SNiP code well, please let me know whether my calculations are acceptable or not. Thanks in advance, Kee H. Lee, P.E.
Hi, In matlab it is convenient to multiply two vector cell by cell with .*,But I don't know how it works with Mathcad, 15 or Prime. Is there a built-in function for that or I have to program.Could someone help me with that?Thank you
Can someone please tell me how I can stop my equations from spreading over two pages?I know there used to be an easy way to do this but I have forgotten how
PTC Mathcad 15.0 M040 and Windows 10 - what about this couple?See please PTC Mathcad 15.0 M040 coming soon
Hello all I keep running into an index error on my code I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction, Must it be diagonally dominant to work? Thanks in advanced!!
Flow field: u = V[1 + (h/[Beta]) (2 [Pi]/l) (cos (2 [Pi]x/l)) E^-2 [Pi][Beta]y/l]v=-V (h) (2 [Pi]/l) (sin (2 [Pi]x/l)) (E^-2 [Pi][Beta]y/l)I need to solve partial "u" w.r.t partial "y" and partial "v" w.r.t partial "x"Then I need to show partial u/y - partial v/x = 0. Hence the Vorticity will be zero.Please see the attached pics. Please help.
HiCan anyone tell me why tp > (e-2mm) where:tp=20mme=22mmIt should be equal to each other!!!ThanksBest regardsWaleed Khalid
I am studying at Mississippi State University and am currently using a student version of Mathcad 15. I am having trouble printing Mathcad files to pdf right now.I used to be able to print to pdf through the print screen. I had been using Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader Free software to open them in. I decided to upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Pro and did a free month trial. With the Pro software I could still print Mathcad to pdf the same way as before. I decided that I didn’t like Pro enough to start paying for it, so I deleted it and re-downloaded the original Free Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader software that I had previously been using. Now, I cannot print to pdf anymore and am not sure why. Anybody have any idea why this is happening and how i can get it back?
I have an integral that won't converge to a solution for a specific set of variables (the solutions over a range of variables are sought). I've attached the whole worksheet and thus a lot in it isn't relevant to the solution so just skip to the bottom the find the error-riddled integral. Thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to help out.
