ROBOTalk – September 24, 2014 In our second webinar of the season, we discussed organizing teams for success, along with a brief introduction to project planning and PTC Windchill. We also introduced how a team can break down game requirements into robot requirements, and how those robot requirements will translate into volume allocations in PTC Creo. Hey everyone,I'm noticing a lot more FRC teams have been using snail cams for shooters and other continually reloading mechanisms, but I can't think of any ways of making a progressive CAM in Creo. Any ideas? I'm talking about these:http://www.technologystudent.com/images5/snlcam3.gif-Patrick Youssef
Dear First Windchill / Creo Parametric experienced user community,I have added several FTC members to Windchill using the roles of "CAD Author"/"Team Members" as part of an FTC project. These users cannot access the workspace files using their logins unfortunately. I can access the files; however my role is one of project manager. Any ideas or suggestions?-Emil
Cyborg Eagles FTC Team 7089 Block Party Robot 2013 / 2014 Season. Modeled in PTC Creo Parametric. With the rotating turret, pincher gripper and extendable arm, this robot could place blocks in the basket as fast as the shovel based robots. Low center of gravity and great traction, this robot can turn within it length. Unable to play video. Please try again later.(view in My Videos)
Mark and PTC Academic Support,I was installing the configuration files for Creo 2.0 M070 and noticed the cmd exe had the wrong path defined for looking for *.ui file. The file is not located in the \text folder, rather it's located in the C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 2.0\Common Files\M070\creo_standards\config_files_schools folder. See attached images. Need to fix the configure_for_schools.exe Jon
FRC team 1622 is exploring the idea of using a Gantt Chart within PTC Windchill. We are interested in anyone or team that has used Windchill in this fashion. Looking for an example and some help with Windchill.
We are trying to design a lift that uses multiple linear slides to obtain a certain height. We have constrained all of the linear slides in such a way that they should all be able to extend and collapse using the "Drag Components" command. What we actually get is the 1st linear slide (the lowest slide) moves, but the 2nd and 3rd slides will not move. We have attached the files in a ZIP folder. Please keep in mind that we downloaded the linear slide model off of McMaster-Carr (link inserted below) and was imported using a .STEP file format. We then reconfigured the .STEP file to animate, and it works in the sub-assembly of just the linear slide. The linear slide we downloaded was the 16" version. Please feel free to ask us any questions about our description of the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?MCMASTER-CARR LINK:http://www.mcmaster.com/#11965a133/=tvb3bx
Rebecca Lian Clark posted in the "Design and Technology Teachers" YouTube group asking how to improve the movement in pull-along toys being made by her school pupils age 12-13,.I created a model of one of her designs and animated it using PTC Creo to show how a wire tie could be used to move the head. The video is posted on YouTube here.
Hallo,Thanks to the new Windchill 10.2 Server I was able to check in a *.mtl file. But her is my next Problem. Sometimes we check out things to the workspace and then end up not modifying them at all. Is there any way to have windchill still check them in instead of preventing unmodified objects from going to the server?
We are trying to set up Windchill for the first time. We have some files that we have uploaded to windchill, but cannot move them from the main project area into a specific folder. Can someone please let us know how to do this? Whenever we try to re-designate the folder location in Creo before we upload the files, Windchill says to use the "Move Command" in the server. We have looked throughout the server and cannot find such a command. Is there something we are doing wrong or is there simply a different method?

Our school's 150 concurrent license expires in November 2014. How do I go about renewing/extending it before the expiration date? Thanks!
I have invited several members to the 4533 team. Some are showing up as Site members when they register and join and others as FIRST members. I can't seem to put Site members into roles (like mentor) and I can't figure out how some invitees are ending up with Site accounts and others with FIRST accounts.Any help?TIAWalter
Can anyone advise me how to sign up my school for Scalextric4Schools? The Scalextric4Schools website doesn't have a link I can find.ThanksJohn
Dear PTC Community Members, I just realized after trying many different options, that what we can perform without any special process with Google Drive or Dropbox by only unzipping the "How to Model Almost Anything.zip" and "How to Develop a Product.zip" one can immediately begin the tutorial sessions using Creo Parametric if not constrained to the Windchill environment or workspace. Now if I try to incorporate these lessons within WindChill, first I need to grab all the files within these different lessons and consolidate it into a SINGLE folder. After this, I need to upload all these mixed files into the the Windchill workspace tio then follow up with a CheckIn process. As I would expect, as soon as I tried this task errors started popping up left and right. Now if this process would be finally successful, then I would still have lost the context of having the CAD files and the structure of the original zip files just in order to be able to have Creo play nice with Wind
Ich habe von meiner Schule die Lizenz für die Student Edition gratis bekommen. Jedoch möchte ich mir (laut meiner Schule um 17€) die Academic Edition kaufen, da sie mehr Funktionen bietet. Wie geht das ?
Is there a way we can have a preview of the CREO file in windchill so we don't have to memorize the names of all the parts? We have looked into using thumbnails, but there does not seem to be an option to do that. Is there any way of doing this?
Is there a way we can quickly and easily export windchill files onto a hard drive? The main reason we would like to do this is in the bizarre case that something could happen that would make our files inaccesible. Another application of backing up files is for when we are at competition and cannot connect to the internet due to the Field Control System. Is there a way to do this?
ROBOTalk – September 17, 2014 In this introductory webinar, we discussed the product development process and how it applies to robot development for FIRST teams. I'm not sure where to give my answer to today's robotalk riddle, so I'll post it here.If you douse all the clones with water, you will know which are the robots, and which is the human.
