Hi,Arbortext is stripping the / from empty elements when I load them, e.g.<header:metadata-item name="create-date" value="20100920"/"> becomes<header:metadata-item name="create-date" value="20100920">so the document isn't even well formed any more. However, Arbortext still gives it a clean bill of health (no completeness errors). Can someone please point me at the setting in Prefs that fixes this - none of my colleagues is having this issue.Thanks.
Hi All, I am developing XUI type window using Arbortext. In this type of window, one combo box is one of the key item. My requirement is "apart from dropdown list, combo box should be editable".So, I changed the type attribute to "dropdown". Now it is editable, but i am unable to get the edited value.I found no such function in ACL to get that value. Is there any workaround or solution for this. Can any one help me? Thanks,Subbu
Hello all,We have a testingmemberswho uses SharePoint to store some test XML files. Our default XML editor is ArborText and it is configured to open any XML file (default application). However when I checkout a file from SharePoint it does not open the XML file for editing. Also when ArborText is closed and if I checkout the file, then ArborText application is opened but it does not open the file. I am getting a message that the file does not exist. Is there a way to make ArborText to edit files from SharePoint? If not then I might have to move XML files to a directory of some network location. Suppose my xml document is at c:\temp\xmlIf I insert a graphic which is stored at the same level of my XML document, the result is :<inlinegraphic fileref="graphic6.png"/>If the graphic is in an image directory at the same level, it becomes :<inlinegraphic fileref="images/graphic6.png"/>Now, if I want to reference an image that is one level down in my tree structure (temp/shared), A/E switch to absolute path and the result is ;<inlinegraphic fileref="c:\temp\shared\graphic6.png"/>So my question : is is possible to hava a relative path (../shared/graphic6.png) instead of an absolute.Any idea is welcome, Pierat

Multiple, successive deletes are awkward with both the mouse and the delete key on the right side of the keyboard (sometimes not practical to select multiple times for one delete) - is it possible to designate a delete key on the left side of the keyboard?
How can I include the 'character fill' command in a macro?
Hope someone here can help.Just had a file through a couple of errors, because the @key values were "invalid". Turns out, they were too long. What?!?Anything over 72 characters causes the error. I'm hoping there's a setting we can 'set' to override this. That seems ridiculously short, when XML standards place no limit on an attribute's size. And I didn't find anything in searching the help(less) files. But maybe I just didn't use the right search terms.I can certainly explain the 'why' we need the length we do for the values, but the point is, to assure uniqueness of 'key's in our instances, we need the length. And these aren't the longest that I can see occurring.Help? Thanks!Steve ThompsonTAD TechnicalBoeing-IDS Technical Publications+1(316)977-0515MC K83-08The truth is the truth even if nobody believes it, and a lie is a lie even if everyone believes it.NOTICE: This communication may contain proprietary or other confidential information. I have built a Java servlet, running in Tomcat 7 which reads an XML instance from a third party repository and sends a publishing request (PDF) to a PE SErver (v. 5.4). The PDF is streamed back to the client browser. This part is working just fine, what I can't figure out is how to send the graphics which are linked in the instance via an 'image' element with a URL attribute. I have tried writing the graphics to the file-system and re-linking them in teh servlet, but this didn't work. I have opened the resulting XML instance in Arbortext Editor 5.4 and published it successfully with graphics on the PE server. It seems that I'm missing something in passing the graphics or correctly linking them for transmission to the PE server. Has anyone had any success doing this?
We haven't had to change our FOSI in years (aside from slightmodifications) so I'm a bit rusty.I'm hoping someone might be able to answer this quick question beforeI inevitably figure it out.Given two elements:<problem id="p_123"><para>This is sometext</para><some-other-elements-here/></problem>and<problemref linkend="p_123">I would like to have the para text from the ID node shown after theproblemref element in Arbortext.I setup my fosi as follows:<e-i-c gi="problem"><charlist charsubsetref="block"><indent leftind="@12pt" firstln="*"></charlist><att><specval attname="id" attloc="problem" attval="#ANY"><charsubset><savetext textid="xref-formatted.txt"&lt;br"/>conrule="<problem.fmt>,#CONTENT,</problem.fmt>" xrefidtag="problem"></charsubset></att></e-i-c><e-i-c gi="problemref"><charlist inherit="1" charsubsetref="inline"></charlist><att><spec
This forum has been such a help to me implementing MIL-STD 40051C using Arbortext Editor 5.3 and Print Composer, I thought I would share a bug I found. I kept gettting errors with parsing of the v1.7 LOGSA XSL-FO when trying to use Print Composer but only in certain directories. I narrowed it down to my placement of a % sign in the folder name which of course ended up in the full path name when SAX would try to parse, throwing the error. So, if you run into this same problem, just remove the special character(s) from your directory structure and you should be able to generate a print preview.
Hi All,Recently we installed IsoDraw 7.1. I can see some clarity of art difference between this version and the older ones(7.0 Version). When you Zoom very deep the clarity goes to the poor. when the art is fitted into the window also, the clarity is not upto the mark. I have checked with the settings, but no faults can be found in our side. we tried reinstalling also, but it does not works. Is this thing happening in all 7.1 version's? How to avoid these kind of issues. Please help me in this regard,Without clarity i feel bad to work on it.Thanks n advance.Velu
I wanted to look at the document declaration and I remember doing it before by using the edit command. The Arbortext help specifies:edit [-newwindow | -ok] [-readonly] [-xml | -untaggedascii] [-encoding string] [-cc | -nocc] [-stylesheet name] [-catalog dir] [filename | -last | -current]but when I enter "edit -untaggedascii -current" at the command line I get error message [A11316] Unexpected argument: -current[cid:image001.png@01CB7CD8.E68BC190]Can someone tell me what I am missing here?Thanks,-Andy[cid:image002.jpg@01CB7CD8.E68BC190]Andy Esslinger LM Aero Tech Order Data(817) 279-0442 1 Lockheed Blvd. MZ 4285(817) 777-3047 Fort Worth TX 76108
Adepters:We have some documentation that makes heavy use of equations. To date, our users been authoring them in Word and then doing screen caps for our published output (PDF and HTML). So, now they're interested in using an equation editor (MathML) directly and have looked a at least one third-party vendor who has Arbortext Editor and Publisher add-ons. We're using AE 5.4 M070 and are moving to PE 5.4 M070. Oh, and we are not DITA users (have our own custom schema).Just curious if anyone has gone this route and what your recommendations would be?Thanks,Dave HintzSiemens

I am experiencing a problem with how Arbortext alphabetizes index termswhen it comes to terms with numbers. Currently, our vitamin terms are being sorted like so: Vitamin B1Vitamin B12Vitamin B6 However, we need it to sort the terms like this: Vitamin B1Vitamin B6Vitamin B12 We are using Arbortext publishing engine and the index output isgenerated onscreen (i.e. it is not in a separate file). Does anyone have any experience writing acl that will change thissorting of terms? Or would it be java? Any information is appreciated, thanks! Ashley
Is it possible to control the last rule on a page where a table breaksacross columns or pages? I have the following configurations:1) Table with no row separating rules but has rules around the frame. I'dlike the point where the table breaks to have a rule across the bottom.2) Table with row separating rules, when it breaks I would like the lastrule to not appear and the final row of the table (on contineud page) tohave a ruling). With table properties I have been able to acheive:1) Table with no row separation, with a frame, but the row at the breakpoint does not have a ruling. Final row of the table on continued pagedoes have the ruling.2) Table with row separation rules has rules at the break point and end ofthe table...dan
Hello Everybody,I administer Epic 5.3 and the editors in my company use change tracking a lot. The indexers use this to look at the amended documents. The problem is that when the indexers print out a large chunk of a file, the change tracking will be displayed in some parts of the file but not in others. Is this an Epic bug? Thanks,Ali Shah.
Good day all,Daily i am working with 2 projects. Each has unique settings of preferences. How to create 2 custom preferences? and how to toggle between them?Any procedure?.Thanks in advance....-Velu
I've been plunking around with spelling today and believe I have observedthe following:Auto-correct word pairs:Documentation is incorrect regarding userdict controlling word pairs. JasonBuss reported this here a while back, I think. You can still customizeauto-correct by modifying autocorrect.xlf (found in the Editor installcustom/lib directory) manually. I copied autocorrect.xlf to my custom/libdirectory and edited it and got the behavior I expected. However, I deletedall the contents of my autocorrect.xlf except for my customizations hopingmy entries would be added to the autocorrect.xlf entries in the install treebut, no, when I did that, it overrode the entire file ... only myautocorrect pairs were found. Auto-correct does not support replacing "e.g."with "eg" although it will support the reverse.Userdict:You can add "e.g." or "eg" but not both.Removing one removes either. You can add "eg:e.g." but it will not auto-correct (as stated above). Bothwill still be flagged. When you add "e
When our drawings are converted to CGM's and brought into Word, the text at the top is often cut off slightly. We get round it by drawing a no line box round the drawing, slightly bigger than the geometry. I want to do a little macro to do this automatically, but I do not know how to find the points required. I need bottom left and top right of the geometry of the drawing. How do I retrieve these points?
