Windchill

I created parts and assemblies in creo, which is connected to windchill, so they were stored in the workspace of windchill. Then, I need to check them into the common space of windchill. But there are also files like "s2d0049.sec", "s2d0050.sec" and so on, which I did not create by myself, but they appeared in the workspace, after I had created the parts and assemblies. Does somebody maybe know what the ".sec"-files are, and whether they need to be checked into the commonspace? Because as far as I understand, you would also need to rename every ".sec"-file so that it is unique inside of windchill. Thanks a lot for any ideas and replies!

Working with 12.0.2 and shifting the location of my ldap from a temp WindchillDS server to an OpenDJ server with just has users in Administrative and Enterprise branches. I noticed in the site.xconf these values: If the configuration has been moved from the LDAP server to json files and this location is different from where my users are managed currently after the upgrade, what is this doing? It appears to be entries from initial base install before my upgrade rehearsal. The values are written to the ieStructureProperties.txt file in the WEB-INF folder.  In previous versions, this is where Windchill read its configuration from the LDAP. Is this just a hold over that PTC will eventually clean up? Or does it still have some function?    

Side effect of flipping who creates out Change Notice objects. We had previous automated creation so wcadmin was the creator. We finally flipped back to more OOTB where uses can create (I do not use Change Admin roles). When the ESI workflow kicked off, it failed since the creator of the CN whom it uses in ESI did not have rights to create an ESI Transaction. I have a Windchill system that has been around for 15 years, started at Windchill 8 with upgrades to 9, 9.1, 10 and 11. When I did my test run to upgrade the data to Windchill 12.0.2, I found a line in the log file saying I should enable Automatic Folder Rollover.  I have that enabled on my other Windchill system (Windchill 11.0 upgraded to 11.1) but that system also uses a single vault with folders under it. The older system was setup with 6 vaults each with folders under them. I would like to enable automatic rollover on the folders for this system. Does anyone have any ideas on what is needed? Do I need a single vault for this to work or can it work with multiple vaults?

Getting this error installing 12.1: CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5(Access is denied.) while attempting to open or create the physical file 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\/windchill12_1.mdf'

I added a couple of settings to a new Windchill 12.0.2.8 system for wt.FV settings. When I use xconfmnager -d on the settings, 2 of them show as being in site.conf and wt,properties with the target being codebase\wt.properties. The other 2 only show as being in site.conf but they do have the target set to codebase\wt.properties. Yet when I open wt.properties, I can find all 4 settings and set to my values.  Anyone else seen this odd result?

Alas, in a flood of "CAD worker isn't working" posts I do think I have a new one...  Running on one VM are 2 instances of Creo and 1 instance of NX. The two Creo instances are identical (copy/paste) with edit to names (i.e. "instance 1" folder and "instance 2" folder).WorkerDaemon is set up as a service and runs automatic with a local system account. After a restart, when I check the the worker agent, the 3 instances on this machine (and only this machine. The other 2 work fine and are setup the same) shows the workers as not started and the worker monitor is off. If I toggle the workerdaemon to try to get some action, nothing happens. I can start the worker monitor manually and then only 1 of the 2 Creo instances starts. The only way I can get the other Creo and the remaining NX workers to start is to manually launch their respective worker.bat files.  Not sure what else to look at.Ports that are used for the workers?

Hi,If a CR is having some objects like problem report, Plan Activity, linked in associated process objects then the affected objects present in those linked objects in associated process objects are not propogating to CR.Any help on this?

Hi Friends, Need to understand how value is generated fir Ida2a2 column in EPMDocumentMaster.  Observed that it is not an identity column.  Is it normal max+1 serial number filling or any other logic exists? Windchill database is hosted on SQL Server. We are trying to repair windchill database which got corrupted due to disk failure. Please share info if anyone is aware of the logic. Regards,Hema

I am a System admin and would like to understand how a CAD document goes through the various parts of windchill, right from its creation and checking it in to windchill until it gets accessed by other users.what are the Agents involved in making this CAD doc life cycle. I just need a simple crisp steps that it crosses inlcuding Q mngmnt,WVS, CAD workers and other. if any.

My colleagues want to revise some WT-parts and make changes in the BOM. The WT-parts have related CAD-objects, but these will not be affected as the BOM change is not showing in the CAD models and the drawings. The BOM update is to change from one grease to another. The job will take many hours if CAD objects needs to be revised and customers needs to approve a drawing that have not visually been changed. So my colleagues want to revise the WT-part, but want to exclude the CAD objects from revise and Change Notice. The result will be that the revision for the WT-parts will differ from the CAD objects.Me, as an administrator say that's not good to do, as it will create problems in the future, but have no more argument to explain why we shouldn't go this way.How do other companies do? Can anyone help me explain which situation we will end up in, if I allow this.

Hello all, hope you are safe- I have created a JNDI Adapter to retrieve all the user from Active Directory. The Adapter and all the configuration was created using an AD user who can "see" all AD users. In AD we have several ORG. that does not match with the 2 Organizations created in Windchill.    Any of you know a trick on how to map the AD users (from like 5 different ORG) to the 2 Windchill Organizations.   Thanks in advance for your time reading this post. We are looking at a new deployment of Windchill from scratch, with several assemblies that likely have duplicate part files. I'm having a hard time locating reference documentation for doing this, and our VAR is quoting over $20K to do this for us, which isn't in our near-term budget. I need to be able to explain our options to the bean-counters, and there will be furrowed brows if DIY and a relative labor estimate isn't one of them. The explanation we are being given from our VAR (at least as my colleague interpreted their explanation) is that CAD file/parameter loading is a very tedious, one-part-at-a-time operation, which I'm having a hard time swallowing in the 21st century. I've only found mention of Excel data import, but that doesn't seem to point to the initial load of model/assembly/drawing files, and all relevant template material. Could anyone direct me to some reference material for import process best practices and/or methods for a new Windchill installation/depl
