Hi all,   We'd like to allow a group the ability to maintain a drop-down list of values in PDMLink. There doesn't appear to be a way to do this without giving them Org Administrator where they would be able to access all of Type & Attribute Management.   For now we are having requests to add to this list of values go through our Help Desk, but we'd like to have this group of users manage the list.   Does anyone have a solution for this type of thing?   Thanks

I have multiple Workspaces, is there a way to search and find which one of my Workspaces a specific file is in? This is a function I could never seem to find.

I would like to have a BOM report of all components (parts and assemblies) with quantities aggregated. Anyone have thoughts about how to implement such a report or any product futures that might include this?    For now, we are using VBA in Excel to do this which is functional, but tedious each time it needs to be generated.    Current Windchill Structure Reports , only offer: Multi-Level Component List. Aggregates quantities, but skips assemblies. Multi-Level BOM. Shows structure and all assemblies, but would not aggregate the quantities (e.g., a screw could show up multiple times under different assemblies.)

I created a new context and when I looked at the OIR listing in utilities, it has the same site level ones I created from another product context. The problem is that new objects created in the old context have the proper lifecycles while a part created in the new context shows the lifecycle as One Phase development instead of our modified one from the site? What can be causing this to happen? The site level OIR should be the defining one and it has the right lifecycle in the file. Also, how can I switch all the existing parts in the product context to the proper lifecycle? There are about 100 parts already created and checked-in.   I am running Windchill 11.1 M020 CPS20 with Creo 7.0.5.0.

Hi We migrate currently our old Windchill 10 to 11.1 on a new Windows 2016 Server. Since years I would like to activate the Windows Deduplication on the Vault Volume but I never had the courage to because of the restrictive PTC Knowledge-base article that they not support it. So first of all, has anyone already any expirience with the Windows Deduplication on the Vault of Windchill? As an alternative option if Dedup is having any negative effect, I would like to enable just the NTFS compression on this Volume. But of course we would prefer Dedup because it would estimated saves us more than 300GB. Thx for any suggestions or Feedback. Marco  

After doing a lot of research into the Upgrade process, even more confusing than the Rehost process, I have identified my plan forward and would like some others to comment if this is doable. We are on Windchill 11.0 M030 CPS16 with Oracle 12Cr1 both on Windows 2012R1 Servers. Upgrade will be to Windchill 11.1 M020 CPS20 with Oracle 12Cr2 both on Windows 2012R1 Servers. I am doing a test upgrade on a virtual clone of the production systems. The data vaults will remain on the Windchill server. My plan is as follows: 1) Create a backup of the LDAP 2) Create a backup of the Oracle DB 3) Shutdown Windchill and WindchillDS 4) Shutdown Oracle 5) Remove the Windows services that start Windchill, HTTP and DS 6) Rename the Windchill top folder 7) rename the  Vaults folder for the OOTB test 😎 Install Oracle 12Cr2 9) Install Windchill 11.1 M020 CPS20 from the downloaded files 10) Test the OOTB 11.1 system 11) Dump the Oracle DB user 12) Import the Oracle DB 13) Rename the vaults folder 14)

I am trying to import "Views" for existing wtParts using the spreadsheet.  Sometimes it will work, but sometimes it will not.  It seems that I have to have only a couple of items at a time to be able to get it to work, where if I am putting in new Parts at Design, it works with 1,000s of rows.  I'm on 11.1.  There are no errors in my logs.

Currently we have a simple SSO (Single Sign on) Solution based on PTC Help (and PTC Community)Microsoft Azure (Identity Provider)Shibboleth (Service Provider)Windchill with WindchillDSThe Solution requires a User Account to Exist in WindchillDS (Or Other LDAP) with matching Name to what is in Microsoft Azure.  Windchill displays SSO Log In and checks Password.  Passes and the Users is able to log in. Server now going to CLOUD - and IT does not want a Tunnel to Active Directory. QUESTION:  Has anyone Configured Windchill to Pull User Information from Microsoft Azure into Windchill?Willing to Provide Assistance? Random Thoughts:* Possible Shibboleth XML changes to pass User Attribute Information in Windchill?* Likely need a JNDI Adapter?  To make MS Azure Accounts visible?  Similar to an Active Directory Integration?  

Hi,   In short: I'm looking for a way to clear the contents of a Workspace and the cache automatically, without user intervention.   Long story: We've got a server that's running a Creo 7.0.x.0 installation for conversion from prt/asm to stp.We can't use a worker for this as we've got a third party software involved. The Creo session is started using a batch-file, so adding an "rmdir \..\..\.cache2008" command is trivial for clearing the cache as we see fit, if we don't want to use the dm_cache_limit setting (which we don't).   However, the Workspace is still just adding more and more new items as it's downloading, and around some GB or 20k files, it's slowed down the task a lot. Manually logging onto the server is a way to do it, but not ideal.So, this is done from the Windchill side apparently, and that would involve prorgamming something beyond DOS probably.   Anyone with an idea?

Does anyone have a solution to view a Creo Schematic as a "Drawing" with Thingworx Navigate? I have the .rsd file related to the WTPart has a content link and I have a CAD object as owner to drive the schematic part number into the BOM. When the schematic is checked in a pdf is generated and attached as secondary content "attachment" to the ecad object. See images below. In our manufacturing facility we haven't had a good adoption of creo view. The view a drawing app with the PDF opening in the browser is preferred. This is fine for the OOTB where creo and solidworks drawings have pdf's as part of the representation but I'm having difficulty presenting the schematic with the same application in thingworx. I have a questions regarding setting documents attributes based on variables in a workflow. I have been able to pull the attributes of a document and set them as variables in a workflow, but was wondering if there is a way to do it in the opposite way? Is there any java code that will work in 10.2 to accomplish this? Lets say I have an approver signature in the workflow( That they filled out in the workflow) I need to take pass that signature back into the soft type?

I see that the configuration allows you to specify a different command to compare something other than default Office extensions. Has anyone done this?  Specifically, have you done this with PDF?  Looks like they have a Javascript to process and do some validation.  There does not appear to be notes in help files on this.

Hello,   My customer updated licenses in a Windchill 12.0.2.1 and they do not have access to any of the options that are present in the Site->Utility   As a matter of fact :   Administrator has no licenses and it doesnt belong to the exclusion group (or Profile) Even though the customer has a Windchill base they do not have : PTC AUTHOR licenses PTC PDMLink module license and when we tried to add a user to the PTC author license here is what we have received  the message in the screenshot attached. Also you can find the bin file that user has.   The case number is  : 16103496   Thank you for the help as it is a bit urgent      

How to change the default value of Allow roles and/or members to be added locally in this context when creating a product/library/project. The check box should be preselected when using shared team.   Regards, durga
