Background. We started using wtParts and used a view called "Modeled". Since then we have updated that wtPart structure with a view called As Designed (eBOM) from MAPSB. The plan is to then use the As Designed to create a Staged View (mBOM). To do that we need to Reassign the wtPart view. That can ONLY be done on wtParts that have ONLY one view.   So, for all the parts we have (thousands) that have an older Modeled view and a newer As Designed view we need to change the Owner link from the Modeled to the As Designed so when Engineers bring in the Drawing into Creo they will also add the As Designed wtPart to the workspace and modify the together.   It seems that we can edit the associations from the Windchill side (edit associations and change the modeled from Owner to content and then add the As Designed as the Owner). It also seems that you can do this inside the workspace. We have mixed results with this.    Can someone provide some guidance on what is the correc

Hello guys,   I have a customer request and I think it is quite common but I'm struggling to advice him on what to do: How to manage deformable components in Windchill ?   They use Catia connected to Windchill PDMLink and they want to manage certain types of deformable components (harnesses or strings for example) in their several representations (starting position, compressed position, released position) under a unique Part Number.   I was thinking that it could be handled only with representations attached to the WTPart but I'm not sure that it would be enough.   How would you manage this in Windchill ?   Tnkas in advance for your feedback.   Regards, Florent

Hi,I am trying to write an OData query that can get all objects having a specific classification. This is quite easy to do with this command:URL/servlet/odata/ClfStructure/ClfNodes(classID)/ClassifiedObjects.Now this classID class had many parts in it and I want to narrow the search to only parts that are also part of another specific class. Knowing the ClfBindingAttributeAndNodeValues property, I thought I could do something like this in order to get only the parts I want :URL/servlet/odata/ClfStructure/ClfNodes(classID)/ClassifiedObjects?$filter=ClfBindingAttributeAndNodeValues/any(d:d/clfNodeID eq NewClassID)But this leads to a PROPERTY_NAME_NOT_SEARCHABLE error code. I suspect there is nothing wrong with my OData statement, as a similar statement works with the TripPin OData V4 test service. Can Windchill 11.1 installed in Microsoft Windows Server 2012, be used with ThingWorx 9.0 Installed in Microsoft Windows Server 2016. My Question is can ThingWorx and Windchill connect irrespective of installed locations( i.e. one in cloud, one in server) 

Hi This is my first time trying to install Windchill, so I am sure I my issue is a simple mistake, but I have been struggling to find out the cause and need some insight or resources that can point me in the right direction.   I am trying to install Windchill 12.0.0.   I am trying to do the install on a VM with a Windows server 2016 datacenter Evaluation (I am using a trial license, I don’t know if this matters).           I have Java 15 installed and run the setup file with the following command in powershell:     When I do this I receive the following error. Attached are the log files associated with this error     I also have java 1.8 update 202 installed. When I run the install with this version of java I receive the following   I also get the above error when I use Jdk-11.0.7 which was recommended in the software matrix for windchill 12.0.0.0   I am sure it is a simple thing that I missed or didn’t do right. &nbs

Is there any place in Windchill where a restriction can be placed on an object's revise statsus? Let me explain what I would like. Everything is created at version A and the Design state. When it is promoted, it is at the Prototype state. We had an engineer do a revise to the version A parts, bottom up. When he got to the top level, the revise caught some of the version B parts he had already revised and made them version C. I would like Windchill to block a part at the design state (other than version A) from being revised to prevent this from happening again. It is this possible with some preference or will I need custom code? The same scenario is with a version 1 or higher object at the pre-release state.  

My company has the requirement to have Windchill send an email notification to a specific group of uses when a released file is revised. Currently we have promotion management set up to notify a group when the file is promoted to Released. If the file needs to be revised after going to released state, the designers want a specific group of users notified that the revision is changing and the state is changing. Is there a mechanism similar to the promotion management we can use to notify a specific group that a file's state is being changed to due to revision?

I'm working on importing and classifying our engineering standards into Windchill.  I have imported documents on a large scale before and have even set IBAs while doing the import.  For Parts Classification the import of the binding attribute while importing the parts was a little different.  Can I transfer the logic from wtParts import to document import but match it to the nuances of the document import spreadsheet?  Is this something that can even be done?  I have a couple hundred documents I am importing in and it would be nice to be able to do this all in the import file.   On a side note, is anyone else classifying documents in Windchill 11.2 or 12.0?   Thank you, Brian

Hi all, I have a document and I linked the Lifecycle with the document to trigger a workflow....when ever there is a Set State to Under Review from proposal, the workflow process gets started......but the test messed up and resulted in ever growing workflow processes in a loop...nearing 50000, clogging system resources and degrading performance.... I could terminate the WF processes by Reassign lifecyle or change the state of the document BUT WC is giving exception of max search results threshold met..Right now I am able to contain the growing workflow instances...by pushing it to reject state...from workflow tasks,,,So my questions is, besides manual termination, if I delete the object , will it remove all the running processes from the system???Please help me !!ThanksParveen

Hi experts,   We're currently considering to use design control module. As for DHF's specification, removed objects are still collected in the DHF. It's OK for us. If a document or part itself is deleted, it does not remain in the DHF. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But when DMR will be created from DHF, to create DMR while avoiding removed objects is very troublesome. How should we productively choose the  proper objects for DMR from DHF?

since the class and attribute description is evaluated by class admin (sometimes also localized in multilingual), how to dispay it to the end user?   It is required by part creation and search (refine results)

Now PTC Lighthouse doesn't work so where I can request Windchill VM for training? Is there another platform for that? 

I think this has been knocked around a bit already but, does anyone know if this is possible?We are about to upload over 3k documents from WC9 into WC10.In WC10 I have created a lot more document types and sub-types and my guess is that someone will say that a document or two should be changed to a different type (after its imported).Other than creating the document again, it would be helpful to just change the type.

During joint design development, We expect some of our design group to collaborate only on very limited 3D Models and &2D drawings (which are part of a bigger assembly). So, we decided to share only those 3D Models and &2D drawings to project and ask them to start working on the same.   However, they're not able to modify it until we provide access to them in the Product. In that case, they would be able to see the entire assembly(all parts which are not required for them to View). How this scenario can be handled and joint design development can happen ?   is this something achievable through PDMLink & ProjectLink ?

Hi, I created template for project in Windchill but I don't know how to implement private access in load file template. In manual creation you can simply choose Private Access: Project Members Only.  

I'm having a problem with the redirect back to Windchill after authenticating. I see the authentication on the Okta side, but when it returns, it goes to the Windchill address without the "/Windchill", just the hostname. I get the Apache "It Works!" page. Any ideas?

Looking at the Object Growth Rate page on the Performance Advisor for Windchill site.  What is the time period for the change? The help documentation states the following: "The Change In Count specifies the different in the current and the previous data counts for the business object."   I guess I'm not clear on what the "previous data" refers to.  Is this based on the "Windchill Database Statistics" logging interval? 6,118 new CAD Documents in a week seems like a lot (at least for our size company.)   P.S.  It would be really nice to get a graph showing the growth rate of each object type over different time intervals (month, year, 3 years, etc.)

Hello, looking for a possibility to programmatically do an upload of certain attachments to a Part request object? Basically trying to mirror the functionality given in the GUI from within an expression robot within a workflow.   Any ideas if this api exists?   regards Torsten
