I am working on our company's CI/CD and I want to add logic to perform certain functions when certain files/paths are changed since the last pipeline run. One of these action is the restartAllLocalMethodServers command found in JConsole.  I'm familiar with running it from JConsole, but can't seem to find a class path to try calling it from command line. If there is no main function for whatever class this is built into, it'd be worth writing my own java utility class to call it. How can I perform a restartAllLocalMethodServers through Command Line?

After our upgrade to Winchill 12 all of our dictionary files (user.dict ) are totally empty. How can I obtain the default file?

I realize I am very late to the party but we are just now upgrading to PDMLink 10. Am I missing something or is it not possible to open the links from a search result into multiple tabs?IE if I search on a part number and I want to open the CAD object and the WT object that the search results returned in separate tabs is that possible?

Is there a functionality in Windchill 11.0 where you can save a snapshot or iteration of your assembly where all the associated parts and drawings can be saved at the same iteration.   For example, if I had an assembly with parts and drawings where I want to save that design as-is so that it can be restored or retrieved in the future.  This would be in the case that the design continues on a new course, that ends up not working out.  I would like to go back and retrieve the design iteration that I saved previously.   Thanks

Hi everyone,    I'm trying to get a workflow to trigger when a user submits a new document as part of a development project. I found this bit of code that pretty much does the trick: https://community.ptc.com/t5/Windchill/Auto-Create-wt-document/m-p/318327#M37355  I have the code in an expression robot in a workflow that's called in a phase process. By changing the wt.doc.WTDocument bits to wt.change2.DesignReview (in theory) I'd be set BUT... there is no wt.change2.DesignReview in the JavaDoc (we're on 11.2.1.4).   By putting in wt.change2.WTChangeRequest2 etc. the workflow functions just fine. Except I don't want to auto create a change request. I need to auto create a Design Review.    Any thoughts or ideas on how to proceed? Is this an intentional omission by PTC or am I looking at the wrong place in the documentation?    Many thanks!

Hello, The manufacturing engineers at my company are looking for 3D plant layout software.  I am curious if any Windchill users have incorporated the data generated from such software into Windchill.  Or even if any of you have suggestions for this type of software based on your experiences. My company finally upgraded from Pro Engineer Wildfire 4.0 with Windchill 9 to Creo 3.0 and Windchill 10.Before installing Creo on my laptop, I cleared my workspaces and deleted my cache. Creo is working and can find a license without issue. However, when I try to register the Windchill server under "server management", it fails to connect when I click "check" and then I am asked to check the server location. I know the URL is correct as it is working for my coworkers. I can access Windchill through Internet Explorer on my laptop also. I have tried reinstalling Creo, restarting my computer, and trying to connect with and without the wireless connection.I've tried researching this issue and the only solution I came across involved deleting the cache which I have done several times.I'm out of ideas. Can someone please help?thanks!

Reaching out to Navigate community 🙂 We are rolling out Thingworx Navigate app which will be used by pretty larger user base. We need to have some folks to go into Thingworx platform doing very specific tasks like managing users and user groups.    What is the best practices for such admin group for Thingworx Platform. I think in my head I had a different idea on how SUMA worked.  So, if you have walked this path before, please let me know where the mine fields are.  I understand the part relationships between OEM, Manufacturer and Vendor Parts. We are adding this on to an existing system so I would assume that all my existing 300K parts are all considered OEM parts by that definition right?  Let's take the example of a COTS part like NAS620C10, a milspec washer.  This exists in our system currently and called out on BOMs.  If I wanted to apply AML to this, it would need to be a MFG part, a different type. Do I need to change the type on all of these existing parts?  It does not make much sense to leave the existing part as a OEM part and create a new MFG part linked to it.  Can MFG parts be called out directly on BOMs? This leads me to another observation: Creating Parts just got a whole lot more complicated. Do you then block part creation and leave that for an ad

Has anyone found a good way to find accidental revisions in Windchill or revisions that never made it back to a released state? It happens somewhat frequently that some objects accidentally get revised by someone and they didn't even know they did it. Or maybe a change was in progress and then the change was abandoned and the CAD was left. I've tried using advanced searches for this but I can't get the search to work - see screenshot below. Or is there a SQL query that would do the trick?

Greetings, Wondering if it is possible to control who can see different BOM Views? We can create the new View in a location that has limited access, but would that restrict seeing the view in the part history tab. Would the restricted location also prevent users from revising the wrong view.  

We are on 11.2 and we keep having this issue where our Change Notice and Change Task numbers get out of sync.  We can not duplicate it or figure why it happens since there is nothing in the logs.  All of a sudden the numbers will go out of sync and a Change Notice number goes missing but the Change Task numbers stay sequential.  Does anyone know why this might be happening?  We do have multiple Notice and Task soft types.  We had it happen before in 11.0, but usually that was because someone created an extra task in a Notice just to see what it would do.  This has happened at least 3 times this year in 11.2.  Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Hi All In the out-of-the-box apps, the users' recent parts are displayed for quick access. You get the most recent version of the part, except .. When the part has been revised in Windchill, the list of recent parts in Navigate does not get you the revised part. You could call this a bug .. In Windchill you get a warning in a red label at the top left. Is there an easy fix for this? One way is to repeat the search when the recent part is clicked. thanks Rick

I do a weekly copy of my data vaults as part of a backup procedure. Once the vault is copied, I go into Windchill Utilities, File Administration and remove unreferenced files. By default the option is to delete these files, but I always do a move instead. Is there a preference setting to make move unreferenced files the default?
