Windchill

Greetings, Wondering if it is possible to control who can see different BOM Views? We can create the new View in a location that has limited access, but would that restrict seeing the view in the part history tab. Would the restricted location also prevent users from revising the wrong view.  

We are on 11.2 and we keep having this issue where our Change Notice and Change Task numbers get out of sync.  We can not duplicate it or figure why it happens since there is nothing in the logs.  All of a sudden the numbers will go out of sync and a Change Notice number goes missing but the Change Task numbers stay sequential.  Does anyone know why this might be happening?  We do have multiple Notice and Task soft types.  We had it happen before in 11.0, but usually that was because someone created an extra task in a Notice just to see what it would do.  This has happened at least 3 times this year in 11.2.  Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Hi All In the out-of-the-box apps, the users' recent parts are displayed for quick access. You get the most recent version of the part, except .. When the part has been revised in Windchill, the list of recent parts in Navigate does not get you the revised part. You could call this a bug .. In Windchill you get a warning in a red label at the top left. Is there an easy fix for this? One way is to repeat the search when the recent part is clicked. thanks Rick

I do a weekly copy of my data vaults as part of a backup procedure. Once the vault is copied, I go into Windchill Utilities, File Administration and remove unreferenced files. By default the option is to delete these files, but I always do a move instead. Is there a preference setting to make move unreferenced files the default?

Hello,   I have an info engine engine task registered which will be called when an interface sends any content to Windchill. I have written my task xml to generate the wsdl, but I want to know the necessity of adding webjects in the xml, because even after adding/removing the webjects I am getting the same wsdl. I am creating a new Role which I need to add to about 350 existing Products in my Windchill installation. It appears that my only option is to add that Role to each Product Team one Product at a time. And, or course, then I will need to add Members to that Role in each Product..., which also appears to be a "one Product at a time" ordeal. Has anyone discovered a method to add a new Role to MULTIPLE existing Product Teams all at once? Likewise with adding adding Members to that Role all at once across all the existing Product Teams. Note: For future Products, I am creating a new Product Template which will contain the new Role..., but adding the new Role to existing Products Teams quickly is a problem. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I came across the ability to add a topic/discussion to an info tab in Windchill.  When I try to start a new topic, it does not give me any box to type into.  See screenshot attached. Is this something that my administrator needs to enable before it works?  If so, where would my administrator go to enable this feature.  (My administrator is pretty new so they are not up to speed yet.)   I thought this would be a good place just for my own notes about a particular model or drawing.   Thanks

We just ran out of space on our server. I went into Windchill and removed Unreferenced Files. After doing this, we are now getting the error: Failed to get Url information for content files to upload them to server. Error details: Error occurred while executing HTTP request.   I have checked PTC's support pages and this community, and none of the Articles or posts I could find seem to apply. We are only uploading/checking in Creo CAD Documents.   Can anyone help me figure out what is going on?

Is there a parameter you can add in a Creo Parametric assembly that, when owner associated, will prevent the product structure from being built automatically?   I have memory of seeing this mentioned somewhere, but cannot find any references to it. It might have also been a product enhancement idea, or mentioned at LIveworx/Tech Committees.   There are Windchill preferences to prevent creation of parts, and use gathering parts. You can also use Contributing Image which has similar results.

Good day,   I would like to know whether it is possible to check for a duplicate Variant Specification in the Product Family Matrix Editor?   When creating a new variant from the overloaded product structure using the Actions > Configure selection, the flow checks whether a similar/duplicate variant already exists.   In the matrix editor it is however possible to allocate any component without validation?   Appreciate the help.   Thanks

Many customers are planning to upgrade to WC 12 due to support for MS Office 2019. Looks like latest Adobe Experience Manager(AEM) will not be compatible with Office 2019. This compatibility issue will be a roadblock for some customers wanting to upgrade to Windchill 12. I know AEM is not managed by PTC but I want to raise a concern here.   BR A.

Hello - I am using Creo 6 and Windchill 11.0.  We use library parts such as screws and washers.  Currently, when I want to use one of these library parts in my assembly, when I add the particular instance to my workspace it pulls in the generic and all the instances to my workspace.  In some cases this will add over 100 instances to my workspace.  Is there a way to only add the single instance that I need to my workspace?  I am not modifying the instance, I just want add it to my assembly.     Thanks

Hello everyone,   I'd like to ask for some modification in Visualization system in Windchill. We use "Latest" configuration in our organization and new job to WVS is added when user made check in of the part to the system. System automatically creates new representations for drawing of modified part and drawings of dependent assemblies. (even if they are not revised). 3D models representation of dependent assemblies don't change. We use these process only for drawings (PDF)   We want to set that: If user makes check in of some part, system creates new PDF for this part and for drawings of dependent assemblies but on these drawings are parts only in Released status.   Do we need make special customization or is it possible to use some available property?  

Perhaps somebody more experienced with Windchill can help me: We switched from another PLM system to Windchill and I learned, that the revisions of Items/Parts in a BOM are defined by Filter and can be different by user. Why??? Typical you build an assembly with special revisions of part and it should be able to add an old revision of a design part into a new assembly. But with Windchill not. Why??? Or how do you work with revisions?

I have just started testing Design Review functionality - aim is to manage the change of design in our company. Is there an option to expose the Design Review objects on a part page? I cannot find it on Customize ribbon. Is a piece of code needed? I would like to see on part page whether the part is resulting from a Design Review.

Hello all, hope you are well.   Do you know some advises to size the server for Windchill 12.0.0.0. In previews versions I used a document called "Hardware Sizing Guidelines" but I can not find something similar for 12.0.0.0 version.   Any ideas?  Thanks in advance for the help. Luis
