Windchill

Should calendar delegation allow someone who is not a member of a particular role the ability to do work as if they are part of that role?  Is this normal?   I have a context role for promotion approvers.  If one of these approvers delegates their work to someone else not in that role, the delegated individual is then allowed to complete promotion requests that get forwarded to them, even though they are not a member of the promotion approvers role.  The calendar delegation is effectively bypassing role membership.  This seems wrong to me.  Short of adding some type of custom business rule logic to all workflows, is there some way to prevent this?

With the discovery of Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities, Microsoft is releasing patches to fix these.   These are hardware bugs, only fixable with software patches that will cause performance degradation as much as 30% (speculation).   System Administrators, In cases where the machine is dedicated to Windchill (and with trusted applications installed and running) are you skipping these Windows patches, in behalf of no performance loss?   Is PTC analyzing these vulnerabilities and benchmarking the impact of these corrections?   More info: Meldown and Spectre ( official page and papers) Windows KB page  

Is there a system setting to turn on publishing a WTPart?  The representation is carried froward from the CAD doc just fine when they are all checkout  / checkin together.  The issue I am seeing is when a WTPart is iterated due to adding additional information to it...then you have to manually click on the viewable on the details page to get the system to create a publish job.  This seems like there should be a setting someplace.Thanks,Greg

Hello CommunityI am struggling a little bit with the status of layers in drawing mode.First my configuration, in the condition file I am using the "MODEL_TYPE" value to setup the right checks.(A type for drawing is completely missing? Is this true?)At the end there comes the ELSE part where it moves then to the checks for drawings.When I check the layer status in a drawing, then modelcheck will duplicate my layers to the drawing and set at the end the layer status of the group (prt, asm, drw)Now I have two questions to you:1. How can I prevent modelcheck of generating new layers in the drawing and only set the right layer state?2. We do have different layers for PRT and ASM, how can I say modelcheck that the drawing comes from a PRT or an ASM? ( I tried to use the &TYPE attribute on the drawing, but it didn't worked)Anybody can help here or share his best practices?Or am I completely wrong with this layer handling?Thanks for your Help....MarcSome system information: PTC CREO 2.0 M1

Does anyone know how to configure a workflow so the approver is listed as the "promoted by" individual?  We are planning to use this information to stamp the PDFs with the approver's name but instead of the approver Windchill is showing the person who initiated the promotion request.  This is definitely not what I want.  How do I switch this so it displays the approver instead?  Do I need some type of workflow code to change the owner of the promotion request from the initiator to the approver?  Thanks!   Edit:  Added pictures.  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  

I have created and designated a few feature parameters for a Cable, the Windchill WTPart is set to accept these parameters, the Cables have been designated via Model Intent > Designate, and WTParts get created for the cables upon check-in, but the WTPart parameters don't get populated with the designated feature parameter values.   Has anyone had any luck with this?

On Windchill 10.2 I have a large number of promotion requests across our business all within varying product folders, is there a way to run a report or search which can show all promotion requests and which part of the work flow they are in? Our set up is such that we send a file for approval which then has two approvers after approver A has approved it moves on to approver B, I would like to be able to monitor where the approval is in its life cycle across all of the products we have at the ssame time to get an overview of the business as a whole and monitor how approvals are progressing.   Does anyone know know how to do this or set up a search that would enable this?    

Has anyone renamed a group in Windchill?  I would like to rename one group but would like to know if someone else has and if they ran into any problems.

The OOTB RuleAlgorithms available in Windchill for object initialization do not include a string concatenator that allows whitespace. The OOTB com.ptc.windchill.enterprise.revisionControlled.server.impl.NumberGenerator algorithm will concatenate together strings and attribute values, but it trims whitespace. Using a few lines of code, I was able to create my own. We have a workflow for submitting a file to a library. As part of that workflow, once an EPMDocument is approved, we want to move it to a specific folder. There's sample code listed on the support page that (after correcting typos) doesn't work. Instead, it comes up with a "Context not found: "Windchill PDM"" error. I tried changing the folder path in place of the default "System" but that doesn't change anything.  Where should I look to next? Some of our CN's have both CAD files AND documents in the Resulting Objects table.  Up until now it was easier to just create separate reports and be done with it.  One report for the CAD files and one report for the documents.  Recently, I have been trying to get a report that displays both CAD files and documents in one report but have been unsuccessful so far.   I have been playing around with several different variations using the AND and OR booleans but I just can't get it.   Does anyone know how this can be done.

Recently I created a subtype of WTParts. I have now went into the View Administration of Site and created new views hierarchy:           Manufacturing                      SupplyChain1                     SupplyChain2                     SupplyChain3   I now need to assign these views to my created subtype and then call the objects with the new views in a Product Structure.   I'm unsure of what this really means, let alone how to complete this task. What would be the best way of doing this?

Environment: Windchill 11.0 M020 Windows 2012 master Windows 2008 replica server   I have a recurring problem replicating very large files to one specific replica server. When I 'Reset Undelivered Replication Items' to that site, and kick off a replication job, the job usually processes a few small files successfully, before it starts transmitting a single large file (usually over 2.5 GB). This large file will begin to replicate and make good progress for the first couple hours, but eventually all replication activity to that site stops. Sometimes the file being transferred will be moved to the current vault folder, and then into the .unreferenced folder within. I know this based on monitoring the file activity on the replica server and watching the wrmfTransport folder on the replica.Here is evidence of the same file being pushed to the replica, and winding up '.unreferenced'   When this happens, the Replication job continues to say 'Executing' and the wt.router.7.x queue

This a customization question is for an existing Test Request document which is stored in a Test Library.  I want to add an attribute called "Project" to the Test Request document.  To populate the attribute, I want to be able to search and select from all existing Projects in Project Link to populate the attribute. Is this possible, and if so, how?

Hi all,My requirement is to create a PDF for all the Drawings that are checked-in.I've already tried Post Publish Delegate but this method creates an additional WTDocument for the PDF. However, I want the PDF to be attached as secondary content of the drawing itself instead of a new WTDocument.Is it possible to do so, please help me with a solution.Message was edited by: Akshay Saini

Does anyone have good tips and tricks for debugging a Package Delivery ZIP failure? There's not enough information in the background method server's log file to pinpoint a specific object or problem to investigate.    I have a package and related delivery I cannot ZIP in Windchill 10.1 M050. The background method server log file shows: "Nested exception is: wt.util.WTException: Delivery ZIP file could not be created. Contact your administrator if the problem persists."   I can create Packages and Deliveries w/o error, but I am encountering this ZIP failure frequently for one product context. I can successfully ZIP other deliveries in other contexts, so I'm sure the problem is related to this particular set of objects.   This particular package pulls content from multiple containers and includes CAD, Drawings, Documents, ECAD and Parts. I tried excluding items by object type, source container, special characters in the name, long names, etc. but nothing cured the pro

If Navigate server is exposed over internet and Windchill is in intranet is there any problem for accessing windchill data in navigate.
