We're building a Change Management Agent — an AI that helps engineering and change-management teams see the full impact of a proposed change before they commit. We have a working prototype and we want participants to help us refine it. Who we're looking for: anyone who regularly runs change impact analysis in PLM — change analysts, change managers, engineers who own the CR/CN/CO review, CCB members. What you'd be doing: a 60-minute working session with our team. You'll walk through the current prototype build, think out loud, and tell us where it earns trust, where it doesn't, and what's missing for it to actually replace pieces of your current workflow. What you get: an early look at where this is going, direct line into the roadmap, and chance to discuss opportunities and ways to improve your workflow. I have my drawings being published as a PDF by my Pro/e CAD worker. This is fine but in the end my users really need to be able to quickly download or email the PDF. Currently the only way to get the PDF out is to do the following:1- Go to Drawing Details Page2- Select "Display Representations List"3- Click Actions>Save Representation4- Save Representation out as .zip file to desktop5- Extract PDF from .zip file and email etcWAY to much work...does anyone know of a more efficient way to do this?
I don't know if this is the right way, but since this group is growing, maybe we could work on this document to insert useful resource for reporting. I leave the document open, so everyone can add other useful things. Maybe you can vote up also these three ideas: Possibility to load SQL statements in Query Builder Report in Windchill PDMLink Report: PTC have to share what TS do about it with their customer Set the query limit only for Reports in Windchill PDMLink As you can read on this discussion, Albert Anderson gave us a link about Windchill UML Model Documentation - English Another useful document about query builder from Albert Anderson Query Builder for Live Project Status Reports (NPI, Large Engineering Change, etc.) Another article about UML from TS https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/case_solution.jsp?n=CS188216&lang=en&source=community I think it could be helpful also to catalogue repor
In my last blog post Productivity Enhancements on Windows Explorer Integration for Windchill Desktop Integration 10.2, Part I I discussed the possibilities and enhancements around the Windchill Documents system folder in the Windows Explorer. This blog will show you how easy it is to display Windchill Meta data information in the Windows Explorer Integration. I will also discuss the integrated Windchill search and how leverage the Windchill Index Search functionality. View Windchill Information Windchill metadata information of your documents can be displayed in the Windows Explorer without opening a browser to access the Windchill web application. Even applying filters is possible. To do so, you have to navigate from the Windchill Documents node to the context that you are interested. On the right hand pane you will see the stored documents. You may add or remove attributes by right-clicking a Windows Explorer column heading to see a drop down menu of additional columns
Wouldn't it be nice to have a Logout button in Windchill? Especially when switching between user and administrator accounts thiscould be very usefull in my opinion. As a newbie user maybe I'm missing something, but I can't imaginenobody else ever asked for this functionality.Shouldn't be that hard to implement. I am hoping somebody already figured it out, and it is not a costly customization...
I just installed and executed WCA on a HP-UX server with 8 CPU's and 32 GB of RAM. It recommended only 3 method servers. I would have guessed more than 3. I'm just wondering what others have found using WCA. Are you making use of the recommended values?JimJim Van DragtProduct Development Systems Analyst/Developer - LeadInformation Technologyhermanmiller.com616 654 5285 OFFICE616 836 8394 MOBILEHermanMiller
Hi all,I am running WC 10.1 M020 with Creo/Elements Pro M160. Weare having major workspace corruption issues. Some users have to delete their local cache a couple of times a week due to workspace corruption as this seems to be the only thing that will allow them to access their workspace. We also see ProE crash often when trying to synchronize the workspace from the workspace browser. The issues seem prevalent to almost all users but some are worse than others. Is there anything that I can check or do that might help. The issues seem random but are happening daily. Just this week we have probably had the issue 20 times. Thanks,Brian
Many Windchill users out there are painfully aware of local workspace cache corruptions. Those who have experienced this problem know that you can contact PTC and they will provide a list containing the names of the local cache files and their equivalent Pro/E file names. You then have to manually rename all of the files using the provided list. Having dealt with this in the past and based on information obtained from logged calls to PTC (and as others have mentioned here) I learned that the Pro/E file name can be found in the cache file, usually (but not always) in the file header. After dealing with workspace cache corruptions many times I decided to see if I could automate this process.Earlier this year, while between jobs, I began to develop what I am calling WC_FileRecovery. It is a Windows application that will open cache files, attempt to determine the original Pro/ENGINEER file name and, if found, rename the cache file to that name. This effort has been done completely on my ow
In Windchill 10.2 a lot of effort has been made to enhance and simplify the user experience when working with WTDocuments from your Microsoft Windows Desktop. In this blog I will show you some of the enhancements and how they can significantly simplify your interaction with documents stored in your company’s Windchill system. Windows Explorer Integration The PTC Windchill Desktop Integration plugin adds the Windchill Documents system folder to your local environment. You can you use that Windows Explorer Integration to find, open, access and download Windchill documents without the need to open the Windchill web application in a browser. This will give you a variety of ways to easily access and interact with documents just like they had been stored on your local system: by double clicking on a file in the Windows Explorer by using the context (right mouse button) menu on the Windchill node, any context folder or document in the Windows Explorer by the File
Ok so this was possible in ILINK3.4 how do you do it in WC10. See picture below. I would like to delete 8010-120_mfg.asm version A.1 from the data base. Unfortunately I cannot I can delete A.4 through A.1. Purge is not the answer. I do not want to delete from A.1 through A.3 and leave only A.4 I would like to selectively delete these items from the database.Ron[cid:image001.png@01CDBC07.911FDD70]
Hey Y'all:We are currently on Windchill 9.0 m060, and when we use Internet Explorer to access Windchill, whenever a java applet launches, we have to "login" or Authenticate to get the applet to run. I will attach a screenshot showing the login window.Funny thing is when you do the same thing using FireFox, no authentication window appears. MUCH nicer. Because of that, I don't think it is the server requiring us to authenticate. So: How to get rid of the authenticate login?-marcCAD / PLM Manager
Prior to Windchill 11.0: Required using the same Windchill Workgroup Manager CPS on both the server and client machines. Windchill 11.0 M010 Onwards: You can use different CPS levels on the Windchill server and client machines within the same maintenance release. Workgroup Manager will now check version compatibility at the Windchill maintenance version level; not at the CPS level. Windchill Workgroup Manager is no longer installed from the Windchill server. A company now has the flexibility to have their end users at desired CPS levels and still connect to a single Windchill server. For example, the following scenario is supported. A company has Windchill 11.0 M010 CPS05 server and user ‘A’ can connect to the Windchill server with Windchill Workgroup Manager 11.0 M010 CPS03 and user ‘B’ can connect to the same server with Windchill Workgroup Manager 11.0 M010 CPS07. Illustrated below is the supported configuration. &nb
Hello all,I am attempting to do my first system rehost. I want to use the Windchill Rehosting Utility. I have fully read the guide and made detailed notes and the necessary configuration files. I must have missed something because I am receiving an error when I try to run. I don't know if this has been brought up recently but has anyone noticed that since PDMLink 10.1 has been released a maintenance build has been released every 3 or 4 months...except for the next one (M050). M040 was released April 25, 2013 but M050 will be released Q3 2014. About a year and a half? They must finally be putting some work/thoughts into this next build.Just a hump-day thought.Steve G
Starting Ilink returns with note "Failed to take or refresh license".Pro/Ework and can open models from workspace. What's the problem, anybody know the solution?
Our NASA center is pushing Windows 7 out to the community and we have found that when you go to the Workflow Administrator to view or edit a workflow, a blank screen appears. There are no errors thrown in the Java console(we are using 1.6.0_23). We have a call in with PTC, but so far they are stumped. Just curious if anyone else has seen this. Thanks and Happy Mardi Gras to everyone! Send lawyers, guns, and money...the sh!t has hit the fan!
Ok, every time I have to kill the process and reboot I'm going to post up. So far, second time today.......
Hello, I'm new to the list as we are looking to implement PDM/Link on a trialbasis. We own 8 heavy seats with our 8 Pro/E seats, but haven't used itdue to the perceived cost of the overhead in terms of day to day use.In other words, it seemed like overkill in an environment like ours ofrapidly changing projects and very little ongoing data. However, whenwe do larger projects with more than a couple of people working on thesame database, we realize that a data management solution would be abenefit. Since we have the licenses and a server with extra capacity, we want tosee if we can get it set up and give it a trial run on an upcomingproject. I've been given the task of getting it set up for that projectwhich is due to launch in approximately 2 weeks. My biggest question is, is it reasonable to think that in 2 weeks I canlearn enough to install and configure PDM link properly so we have agood test of whether it meets our needs? We should not have a complexinstallation; we simply want to
Hi all,We are working with large assemblies/drawings in Creo 2 m040 and Windchil 10.0 m030.We have big performance problems compared to the WF4-Windchill 10.0 which we had.Anyone having the same problems? Any solutions?Anyone using "light weight graphics"? How do you work with already authorised" models which are stored in earlier releases of Pro/E which don't have light weight graphics available? Thanks,Han
Hi Guys,Could you guys suggest me a way to export part or assembly file directly from Windchill PDMLink session without launching Pro-engineer. Our guys from toolroom used to download (fetch) files from graphic server directly. Thanks,Sharath

I had a user recently ask how they should be using the three different types of contexts. We have some legacy contexts that don't necessarily make sense, or at least aren't consistent with how we currently use them. So I'm looking to give them some more concrete guidelines of how to use them. Plus in the process hopefully clean up some of the older contexts and consolidate our active context list. Thanks,Steve D.
I am kind of getting the run around from PTC on this. Here is the question. When you change a drawing from In Work to Released Will it triggera republish of the the wvs.publish.republishonepmdocumentchange= trueBut it still does not trigger a republish. One PTC support tech said yes, the other said no.Should it? Does yours? What do you all do?HELP!!!Thanks
