Windchill

Hi there,   we have some solids in our PDM, which are already "released". My collegues want to create some drawings for those solids. Unfortunately, Creo asks the users in some cases for "check-out" of the solids, when the user wants to display a section in the new drawing. It seems, that only "offset-" sections are affected.   Is this a regular behaviour of Creo? Is there another workaround except locking the solid within the workspace?   Thanks   /me

I have a question, not really a support request, but more for my understanding. We have been sending data to Windchill Performance Advisor in total 195 uploads, and we have also received and implemented several Recommendations on our windchill setup all based upon recommendations received via the Perforamnce Advisor. Really nice tool! But now last week I started receiving mails from proactive support, also containing recommendations. But no new recommendations in the performance advisor! I have a subscription for proactive support: But I would prefer to have the recommendation in Performance advisor to have the complete overview. Why have I started receiving recommendation on mail and not in the perforamnce advisor? Can I change my settings so that I receive the recommendation onward in the Perforamnce advisor? Also when I apply the filter in Perforamnce advisor to see recommendations for our test server is the 2 recommendations show, but the counter on the front page does not show

One of the biggest disconnects I have observed is in how parts are added to our system.  In an ideal world, engineers would pull from existing inventory or reuse parts we have previously sourced and like would be grand.  Supply chain would ensure that parts arrived when needed and they negotiated the best price for them. Even better, that there were multiple sources of supply giving them the flexibility to choose different distributors without having to alter engineering BOMs.   In practice, it rarely works like this. Maybe its because life is different in A&D, project based work (as opposed to consumer products). The most likely scenario is that engineering comes up with a design for something. (Working in PDM Windchill 10.2 M020)...I am trying to add some instances to a family table...The way I do it is that I move that generic part with all the instances from my librabry folders in a particular folder and from there I add/modify instances... I was doing this way for a while and it worked for me. Today, I have encountered this situation that I can't move this particular generic file with all instances because (see snipped picture below):   Did anybody have similar issue before?   Thank you  

We are planning on implementing a single sign-on system (Oracle Access Manager)that utilizes Form Based Authentication (FBA). Currently the cadworker appears to send username and password to the worker to enable it to authentication with PDMLink. I appears to me that the single sign-on system will break the functionallity of the cadworker.Has anyone implemented the Cadworkers under a Form Based Authentication system? Hi everyone.   My windchill is configured to look at another ldap source where accounts are maintained.  Is it possible to bulk load users that exist in this other ldap source into specific windchill groups?  PTC says this kind of operation is not possible, only bulk loading users into the windchill ds (as new users).   Jon

Hi, I want to know is there any way i can pass the username and password in the Windchill url so that the user need not enter it when accessing the secured resource so the pop up box does not appear.   i.e.  https://SITE/Windchill/rfa/logout/LogOutRedirect.jsp ?j_username="test"&j_password="test"   Or if there is a way we can do this through a TomCat Server

I did an OOTB install of Windchill 11m030 yesterday, but when I launch the web browser, I get the login screen and then a spinning cog wheel gif in the upper left corner. I am not seeing any error messages in the method server didplays. The one thing I did that was not normal was on the Oracle server, I ran 11m020 utlities to create the DB because that was the build I had planned on installing. When I got to the Windchill install, I did not have the 11m020 Service Pack image, so loaded the 11m030 images. I did notice that Upgrade Manager ran successfully, so I am guessing that the schema was upgraded. I did not se any errors in the Upgrade Manager log file. I installed with Oracle 12c.   I have done a prior install of 11m010 on Oracle 12c with no issues. I have also done an upgrade from 11m010 to m020 on those machines.   Is this somethiing in the install that may have casued this?

Hello,   I am currently analysing the Navigate Applications. In order to test the View Drawing App, I have set up a Windchill Installation with an example product, including various .PRT and .ASM files. I have also created some drawings and PDFs based on these drawings. My question is, how do I have to link the CAD-Documents/WTParts/PDFs in order to have them show up in the View Drawing App results screen? I tried to upload the PDF and link it to the WTPart under the "Described by"-Documents tab, which did not solve the problem. The only result showing on the Results page is the .plt viewable, which was automatically created by a Worker.   Thank you

Dear Reader,Our purchase department is spending hours downloading manuallya dxf file for each drawing beforesending it to the manufacturer.We like to automate this manual downloadfrom Windchill and would like to work with Excel (and VBA).The number of the drawing to look for could be entered in the Excel list and the vba code could download the dxf file attached to the drawing and place this in a folder.Does anyone have experience with this and likes to share his code ?Best regards,Bernard Wielfaert

I have Windchill 10.2 installed across two Linux Servers (Front End and Back End Server).  I would like to enable the local server firewalls on the FrontEnd and BackEnd servers but when I do the Windchill randomly stops responding and I receive a "Site Status Change Notification" message saying Vaults "defaultsystemvault,defaultuploadvault" contained in this site are inaccessible because site status is "METHOD SERVER NOT RESPONDING".  After 5 minutes I receive another "Site Status Change Notification" message saying that the site is reponding normally again and can continue to use the application normally.  When the local server firewalls are disabled the application works perfectly with no problems.Does anyone know why I am receiving this error or have a working set of the local Linux firewall rules that I can see as an example? Hiii friends,   In Project link 10.2, When trying to save as project template fails due to wt.vc.versioncontrolexecution.Exception : iteration already exists.Can any one have solution for this? kindly help. I have enclosed the error snapshot.

Community members -   Do a lot of you use the check for duplicate models capability in ModelCheck? If so, does it work well for you? Anyone know of any good videos/information demonstrating this capability?  

Has anyone change the name from Issues to Problem Report (see picture)?  I would like to change this, does anyone have the steps to change? Greg

I'm testing upgrading from 10.2 on server 1 to 11.0 on server 2.  Last time I did an upgrade it was on the same machine so it made some things easier like reconnecting to our corporate LDAP.  Does anyone have the procudures on how to reconnect it when you chose th copy the additional JNDI adapters during upgrade?  I noticed that my app-Windchill-AuthProvider.xml file does not have the entry for it.  I also noticed that in the Info*Engine administration that it still points to the old server name.  And that SQL Server still has the old server name in the repository table.

How to update Signature Link table using API to develop a utility

1. What happens during the build of WTPart structure of a CAD Assembly when few of its components are present in different container/folders than mentioned in the part_creation.xml configuration.   2. Is it safe to stop the utility its execution in between and resume? How to stop the utility?   3. Is it recommended to execute the Part Creation utility in the live Production environment. Hello, I just finished to read " PTC Windchill Vaulting and Replication Planning " and I still have 2 questions about replication :   1. Why the content ( A on the illustration bellow) is store in RDBMS database and not in the external vault?   2. If a user upload or check in a content on a remote file server, when are the metadata sent to the master server ? I am trying to figure out if conditional watermarking is possible: (we want the watermark to = value of PART_CLASSIFICATION for all cases except when that value is UNCLASSIFIED, then we want it to be something like SECRET/RD PENDING REVIEW). The actual label doesn't matter. The main question is: Is it possible to have the watermark feature support logic in terms of which watermark it uses?   Thanks for any help.
