When I try to load my creo 2.0 student editon on my computer i keep recieving " Fatal error encountered" message, Please what do i do to solve this problem? Thanks!!!
still learning the warp too and need some help i've got a rubber strap that is modeled in its moulded state but for the assemble it need both end bent down. part is modeled with the csys at the center of the part. the first end is easy to setup. bend axis sits on the top plan as this is the middle of the part, moved the pivot to one end so that the unbent part stays in its original position. the second end is not so easy as i cant get the bend axis to sit on the top plane, if you click center axis is puts it half way through the now bent part. and moving the axis when you are looking normal on the end of it doesn't work. moving the axis when the model is at a strange angle is difficult to get it where you want. also what do the marquee refs do? effectively, in the enclosed image how do i drag the marquee box up and down. i need the yellow bend axis to be on the top plane of the part. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi everyone, Is it possible to refer any parameters which defined in Tools => Parameters, when I create user defined measures in Mechanism ( Analysis => Measures)? I have a sheave in the assembly and the diameter of the sheave is defined by a parameter. And I want to define a variable in the Mechanism which is related to the diameter parameter. But I don't know how to refer the parameter in the variable expression. I don't fine a way to define a variable to represent the diameter size in Mechanism Measures neither. Could you give me help? Thanks, ZR
Scenario: 1. Export ASSEMBLY.drw table (Repeat Region) to xlxs; 2. Edit "part number" for all assembly parts in Excel; 3. Import edited xlxs to ASSEMBLY.drw table (auto changing integer value of parameter PART_NUMBER according with edited assembly.xlxs for all *.prt files). For first and second step I have no problem, but how to do the third step? Thanks!
Is there a way to query every dimension/feature on a model? Frequently I am given a task to update a drawing based on a model that has been updated by another person. To ensure that the drawing I update has all the changes, I want to query all features/dimensions from the new and old model, compare the lists (probably vlookup), and make a checklist of everything that needs to be updated in the drawing. Creo kind of does this already with features (Tools > Feature List), but I haven't seen anything for individual dimensions. Thanks for your time!
We are working on updating ModelCHECK for go live of Creo 7. We are upgrading from Creo 5. Now that a default material is assigned in Creo 7 we are looking for another way to flag a material not being assigned. I thought using MATERIAL_DENSITY check would work however it is always an error or always a warning. It seems like the density is always reported as 0.000000 for the material card even though there is an actual value. Has anyone had any luck with this check in Creo 6 or 7? What am I missing?
We just upgraded to Creo 6 (from 3.0). All our legacy data was made with datum callouts per ANSI 1982. (Datum under dimension). One of my users reports trouble changing a datum to show this way. The datum in question is showing per ASME 1994. The properties window for datums used to have this as a radio button, but that's gone now. I also know there was once a config option (.dtl I think, but maybe .pro) for how datums are displayed, but I cannot find this option now. Does this option still exist? If so, what is it? How do we show datum callouts under dimensions now. (Aside from faking it with the @[-A-@] cheat.)
Possible future releases could increase hole formation type based on common machining practices such as reaming, boring, double sided counter boring. Based on CNC machining practices the data then created would automatically tell the CNC machine the machining cycle to be used. Also increase of thread types to include imperial threads such as BSW / BSF / BSP
Anyone encountered this? I have five pretty massive bundles of wires, each with a diameter of about 8 mm, coalescing into a single bundle. I put on one bundle with 1 mm wall thickness to represent the shielding, then bundle that again with a shrink tube (also about 1 mm wall thickness) The resulting bundle has a diameter of 13 mm. This is not reasonable, and I can clearly see how the five bundles overlap by a lot as they enter that one superbundle. Does anyone know a fix for this?
Hello, Our standard practice was to use the default welding and we would make the welds appear solid through the detail options. We updated to Creo 5.0 and found we could make solid welds, which then can be 'machined' (whereas the default weld material was a quilt/cosmetic feature). This is great except that the crosshatching in the drawing reverts back to it's original formatting when we check it in. I've tried a couple things: I've checked out both the assembly and the drawing files (while normally it could just be done in the drawing) and I can get it appearing correct on the drawing temporarily, but once checked in the Creo View will show otherwise. I've tried to set the hatching in the model beforehand, but still get the same issue. Not sure if this helps, but I've occasionally had issues where the solid weld will suddenly want to create it's own part file to be checked into Windchill. It's almost like it lost its reference with the drawing (I can check out
Piling on Andreas' questions.Does anyone know the future of Creo Parametric Toolkit (formerly known as Pro/TOOLKIT)?At one point, PTC (Bipin Kochar) said as of Creo Parametric 6, Creo Parametric Toolkit would be replaced by Object Toolkit. After taking over, Mark Fischer said that was no longer the situation. Thanks for any update.Bob Monat
Hello, i have a Programm for exporting drawings to different formats (DWG, DXF and PDF). After Updating to Version 7.0 my code doesnt work anymore, although it works in Creo 3.0? i get the ExportInstructions : Dim exportPDFInstructions As IpfcPDFExportInstructions = getPDFInstructions3D(EpfcPDFExportMode.EpfcPDF_3D_AS_NAMED_VIEWS)oExportInstructions = exportPDFInstructions model.Export(exportSetting.sPath + "\" + sFilename + oFormat.Extension, oFormat.oExportInstructions) Unfortunately in Creo 7 i get the following error: "pfcExceptions::XToolkitInvalidType" In Creo 3 it works without Problems, the Object Type is the same Has anybody the same Problem and maybe a Solution? Private Function getPDFInstructions3D(ByVal expMode As EpfcPDFExportMode) As IpfcPDFExportInstructionsDim instructions As IpfcPDFExportInstructions Dim opts As IpfcPDFOptionsDim opt1 As IpfcPDFOptionDim opt2 As IpfcPDFOptionDim opt3 As IpfcPDFOptionDim opt4 As IpfcPDF
I've been searching for a solution to putting a large, diagonal watermark(or stamp) that says Preliminary. My goal was to have it behind my geometry. When I put the Text in the drawing, it works fine with the other text fields, but it covers the part. I wanted a way to "send to back" like in PowerPoint. The solution I used was to put the large text diagonally on the Format. Now, when I use my Preliminary Format, I have a stamp BEHIND my geometry. Sorry if this has been covered previously, I couldn't find it Regards, Don
I think I know the answer to this... but I'm going to ask anyway... Sometimes I'll be working on an assembly that has some read only hardware in it and Datum Planes for those parts will be visible... I can hide them in the Layer Tree but it won't save that status because it belongs to the read only part. Is there not some way I can tell Creo that in this assembly I want to hide those planes? Thanks
Hi, My requirement: Create a datum plane in assembly referring to a surface. Then use this datum to create a section in assembly.I created datum plane by populating element tree. wfcWFeature_ptr datumFeat= currSolid->WCreateFeature(elemTree, featOpts); I get datum created correctly. Now I want to use this datum for creating section. so I query its ID by planeID = datumFeat->GetId(); //ID i got is 43 When I create a section by parentSOlid->CreatePlanarXSection(sectionName, planeId, cutObjtype, memberIdTable, quiltID, xtrue, compExcl); system gives me error. So I reselected the created datum and checked for its ID, it is 44. Now if I give this ID to above section function, it works well. Am I missing something to differentiate between planeID and datum feature ID.
needing some advice. i'm making some updates to production parts and i've copied the relevant sub assems and parts to a new folder and renamed them. i have 2 sub assems but they both use the same case and cover. both sub assems have the renamed case and thats fine but i've not has sub assem 2 open when i renamed the cover. this means the one sub assem is correct and one is not. what is the best way to get the renamed cover into sub assem 2. if i use the rt click and replace, the parts below the cover, in the tree, all loose there placements. this seems odd as the part is almost identical to the original and was just made using a copy of the original. i've come from SW and this would be an easy replace and the mates would reattach but not so in CREO, still fairly new to CREO and still learning. thanks
Hi, When I try to save a copy of my assembly there is a error (red circle and white X) saying something like: Model has been renamed by reference. How can I remove this reference and save a copy ? Thanks, Maik
We have a model that is lofted in solidworks. I've tried opening parasolid, step, native, and iges files in creo and the same surfaces are always missing. I can open the exported files in solidworks without issue so I am thinking it should be doable, but maybe my settings are wrong. Are there any settings that I can use to help load the files correctly? Usually I can fix the models myself, but this has a loft generated by some equations so I cannot recreate it.
Hello, In Creo parametric while importing IGES file to assembly the only constraint I get is tangent constraint. Pl help me some solution to solve this problem or Is there any other method to use IGES file in assembly with all assembly constraint(coincident, distance, parallel, oriented, etc). Thank you, Dina.
I have restarted my workstation , but it still does not show up, I have been working on this assembly for a few days w/o any issues until this AM -Thanks -Steve
Hello Experts, I want to cut one part by another in assembly. Manually this can be done using Component Operations->Boolean Operation->Cut. How can we do it using OTK or Protoolkit. Thanks
Hi, I am trying to trim a couple of relatively complex sheets in Creo 5.0.5.0 and encountering some issues. The attached screenshots shows the target and tool that I am trying to use in the operation but output error is 'Feature aborted. Failed to intersect part". I cannot fathom what is causing the issue as the tool goes completely through the target and out the other side. The only thing I can think of is that the top of the tool surface isn't intersecting (hopefully visible in the images) with anything but surely the whole tool doesn't have to be in contact with the target, otherwise how would you create complex cutouts? Any help on how to get around this, would be greatly appreciated! Not sure if this makes any difference but I should probably add that I am doing this on a standard Creo without the Surfacing Design extension. Thanks in advance, Nick
Hey PTC, I am trying to use Creo Simulate or Creo Simulate Live on my home workstation. Unfortunately all functions of Creo Simulate Live and Creo Simulate are grayed out. I use the student version 7.0.1.0. If I try to get a free test version I get an error that says "Userinformation cannot be valdiated" Thank you for your help Kind regards, Arn
Has anyone in the community used the Computer Aided Verification module in Creo to inspect parts with a CMM machine or parts that are scanned with a CT scanner? I found one 10 minute video online but information on the internet is scarce. It would be good to see a webinar running through it. Can anyone share any links or have experience using it in industry for inspection? Ideal scenario is I can program the CMM probe in Creo to specific points on the CAD model and use the GD&T annotations/references the design folks have built into the model to see if my physical part is within tolerance. Any help or general information will be greatly appreciated.
Hi all, I'm trying to get a set of relations/parameters to work in my repeat region BOM table, but having some issues. Essentially I've got a bulk item in my top level assembly. I currently have a set of relations for my repeat region as: IF asm_mbr_type == "BULK ITEM"qty = "A/R"ELSEqty = rpt_qtyENDIF This works great for a lot of our bulk items that use smaller quantities, as they just show up in the table as "A/R". However, I'd like a way to report the quantity used for other bulk items as a discrete amount (total volume of glue used, for example). I can do this by changing the relations to IF asm_mbr_type == "BULK ITEM"qty = "A/R"ELSEqty = rpt_qtyENDIF IF asm_mbr_part_num == "bulk"qty = "2 gal"ENDIF Again, this works great as well. However, I have to manually calculate & then enter the "2 gal" value. As said item is changed/revised/save-as, this "2 gal" value will most definitely change as well. I'd like to be able t
