Creo Elements Direct

Hello,i am new to engineering and tend to get the simple yet difficult things confuse. If you ever have a parent/children drawing for updates, whats the best way of remembering it?Ex: if you have a casting drawing which is referenced on a machined drawingEx: if you have a complete finished good along with packaging and let's say a sub component in a finish good changes, will it rev up packaging?in theory, in my assumption.. if a parent is affected, all children gets affected.. if a child 1 gets affected and there are other children underneath it... the parent won't get affected but anything under child 1 will. Please help with feedback. I appreciate your time and efforts

I will rendering an animation... and i will use FFmpeg....In the Help-Center is only this litte text.... Add an AVI codecSeveral AVI codecs are defined in the customization file ani_customize, which is found in <installationdirectory>\personality\sd_customize\AdvAssembly_Parametrics. You may add a new codec to this file if desired. Please review the comments in the file for more information. Now in the "ani_customize" i will add FFmpeg to creo.... but it dosen't work... FFmpeg is installed on pc. How does it works? Hi, i am Creo elements/Direct Modeling Express- beginner.I want to move the 2D drawing on the 1st workplane to other workplane, so that I do not have to redraw it.Please somebody teach me how!

The existing rendering module in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling is from Lightwork.Lightwork was acquired by Siemens in 2018.Nothing has changed in the rendering module for several years and the possibilities are limited.My suggestion is to replace Lightwork with KeyShot, analogous to Creo Parametrics.

Hello there,I would like to ask if its possible to change structure browser of Creo Elements/Direct modeling(20.5.1.0) to different color please. It is very eye tyring if used on daily 8-10 hours basis.I have managed to change Ribbon UI with command: (uib::win-set-skin-style :black). I tried to look through Creo files but couldn't really find clue for structure browser.This background of structure browser: I dont mind paying for this information, or if it requires some custom code creation.Thank you very much.    

Hello Everybody!Is there a way to  convert Creo 9 part file to Creo 8 part file with model tree?      

Is it possible to set different thumbnail sizes for Model_3D parts and Drawing_2D drawings in Model Manager? At the moment I have thumbnails set in the Model Manager client preference page to be 1000 x 1000. This is a good size for 3d parts but makes very small 2d drawing thumbnails. If I make the thumbnail size bigger then the 3d thumbnails start to take up my entire screen when shown. Can I set them separately in a xml file or in some other customization file?

Hello, Is it possible to put chain dimensions in a set so that they are linked with each other? It's handy when you move one of the dimensions that the other ones also follow. Kind RegardsSEEBO

Hello everyone, I am experiencing performance issues with working in annotation. The best example of my problems is when i copy a piece of text.When i try to move the copied text it follows my cursor with a 5 seconds delay.I also have those kind of problems with placing and moving views and dimensions.Our local ptc support told me that it is graphics card related. I am using Creo Elements Direct Modeling 20.4.1 on a HP Envy laptop with a Nvidia RTX3060 graphics card and windows 11. I have installed the latest driver for the graphics card. When i loop up in the HP compatibility matrix, my laptop and graphics card are not listed.Could it be that te laptop is not compatible enough to run Creo elements direct modeling annotation correctly? Or could it be a graphics setting that is not correct? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I had this error pop up for all my views when i wanted to update all the views on my drawing. First time having this error pop-up and i don't really know what it could mean. Can someone explain what it is and (if possible) tell me how to fix it without having to redo my drawing. I have a screenshot of the error itself that i will attach to this post. I am working with creo elements/direct 20.6.1. I didn't find the location for posts about annotation so that's why i have put it here. Good evening, Is there a document that explains the keywords of a xml file describing the part of the ribbon of a company module (that can be found in the installation directory (eg C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo Elements\Direct Drafting 20.4.1.0\Modules\)?The reason is that Drafting used to die on my pc when I add or modify a panel on the ribbon of my module.Also, I personally think that modifying with a text editor the xml file is easier. Another question: is it possible to have several language in the same xml file, the language being automatically selected by Drafting according to the current locale (similar to the DGETTEXT system?Should be possible, since changing the locale on Drafting with CHANGE_LOCALE do change the labels on the ribbon.   

Customers are asking to export 3D Annotation and 3D Symbols in STEP files as well as 3D notes.This because in next future customers are going to avoid creating 2D drawings for single parts, too. 

I'm having an installation issue with Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Express. I downloaded the setup file, and ran the installer, but after installation when I launch the app the error message: "The code execution cannot proceed because mfc140u.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." I have tried reinstalling multiple times and the issue persists.

My software won't load and a message comes up saying 'connection failed' and it asks for proxy server details - it never used to do this.  Does anyone know how I can overcome it?

why when I start Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Express 8.0 in Italian, the window to activate the SW that was activated at installation appears?Why does it have to be activated each time with the temporary use key for 72 hours?Why is the Italian version of Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Express 8.0 no longer available for download, only the English version exists?

Hi, It would appear that the license server is down again and has been now for several days.Initial checks indicate that there is a certificate failure causing that dreaded proxy server request dialog. Once again I am left asking why PTC continue with this license arrangement. If they are not prepared to support it then for gods sake just get rid of it. The product is ideal for hobbyists and a well supported product (free or not) is the key to getting customer loyalty, something which PTC fails at terribly.I use Creo, Windchill & ThingWorx (yes I know) professionally and am sad to say support there is also not good.  In the meantime, PTC ( if you are listening) is there any chance you will fix this? I am sure all it will take is a certificate renewal. Here's hoping------ 

Hi, We need to convert a large number of old .mi drawings created with Creo Elements/Drafting  18.1.I done some research i i found 3 ways to do that. 1) Use PTC Creo, open the files and do "save as" and select  .dwg in file format.2) Install Creo Elements Direct Modeling Express 8.0 and use dxfdwg.exe that is a tool to convert different file type.3) Reinstall Creo Elements/Drafting 18.1, open the files and do "save as" and select  .dwg in file format. Of this 3 method there is one that is better in terms of quality(precision, quotas, errors,  missing elements, etc) of the converted file ?If there are other ways to do that please le me know.Thanks for the support. Best Regards Giacomo Ceresola 

I am using 20.6 Creo Elements direct,  When I am in annotation I can not change from INCH to metric as my default, I've tried changing the units, but they say they are already in MM, I also tried dimension properties but it will revert back to Inch after the selection. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
