Kepware

As a system integrator, I have no idea how many Kepware licenses I've sold to clients over the past 20+ years. Two weeks ago, I was able to log into MyKepware account, open a support ticket, browse the knowledgebase, download software. Now, I can't do anything. Hoping that somebody in eSupport sees this. It says: Access Denied - Insufficient Privileges You are currently setup with a Basic PTC.com Account that does not provide access to this area of eSupport. This means that you may have an active PTC Global Support agreement however you have not yet Upgraded your Account to reflect your Support entitlements. To access this area please Upgrade Your Account.   OK, so let's upgrade my account. Besides "upgrading an account is easy".. Bull**bleep**,   I need a Customer Number, Service Contract Number, Sales Order Number or Security ID. I have none of those. My clients probably do. I have a problem with KEPServerEX and inputs.opcua telegraf.I collect data with kepware use telegraf inputs.opcua. When I use advancetags/tags with good quality, I don't have problem. The problem is when the quality of advancetags/tags changes to bad (for example, driver stop working). My Kepware after a few minutes or seconds (no rule) stop working (My dataLoger no sent to sql and opcua no work). Application can't start(I click on it, it load, but the project never compiles), only reset server or service runtime to fix it. Off course, I don't have any event log about this problem. Where is problem...?I test with: kepware version 6.9/6.13Telegraf version 1.24/1.25/1.26  

Hello, is there a way to disable the certificate verification on startup for Kepserver 6.8 so that I will not get error message like this "The UA Server certificate is expired. Please use the OPC UA Configuration Manager to reissue ... "    

Hi, I am currently configuring some Advanced Tags in Kepware and I would like to round up some of the values that come up from the machines. For example, if it is 35.5 , round it up to 36 and ranging from 35.1 to 35.4, round it up to 35. Is there a way to do it? What we are looking for is a function or formula to round up a number with standard procedure.When it is 35.5,35.6,35.7,35.8,35.9, round it up to 36.When it is 35.1,35.2,35.3,35.4 , round it to 35.

Hello community,     The Data Logger poped out a warning window showing "unable to retrieve column information" when I was setting up the column mapping for a tag. My ODBC data source (32bit) had been configured and tested successfully, so as the target table in the database.  I tried reinitializing the enviorment and reconfiguring the data source but did not make any progress. The snapshots are attached below. Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.     Thanks again for your attention.      

I tried to install kepware edge on an EC2 instance. But the error message shows 'command not found'. I tried multiple variations of the command by just using the filename, or the file name with location, but the error persists. The command for getting the CLI which is this command+ '--help' also shows the same error.   Are there some other steps to install Kepware Edge on an EC2 instance (I have already installed default-jdk and lsb)?    

Hello community, I hope you can help me. I am trying to connect Csense with kepware (6.4 version) with the block "OPC Classic Client source" I have made the configurations both from GE and kepware as is, enable port 135, DCOM settings, but I still do not connect them, for the moment I just want to show both a graph in real time in conjunction with its historical. I am getting all the data from a siemens 1500 plc. If someone has done something similar I hope you can support me. I remain attentive to your comments. I attach images.

OPC Software: KEPserverEX (Kepware OPC server software) Third party software: VB6.0 (Visual Basic 6.0) (OPC Client)   There is a channel, device and tag items are available in Kepware OPC server and would like to read value of OPC tags into VB6.0 software using OPC DA or any other easy method. I would like to read/write value of OPC tag from VB6.0 software. Could you please help me providing the source code and supported files so that I can assemble in my computer without any issue. We are working on a scenario where we need to provide one set of two redundant OPC UA Servers that act as a proxy between our customer's system and multiple individual sets of redundant OPC UA servers.Because I do not have experience with connections to redundant OPC servers and OPC UA itself, I am not sure if this is at all possible and which packages I need for this. I tried contacting local system integrators as well as PTC itself, but I'm not getting any response. My hopes are therefore on this community! Any advise is much appreciated.Secondly there is a note from the customer that mentions functionality that is easy to understand and makes sense in a way, but it not mentioned anywhere in documentation: Buffering shall be turned on for the proxy OPC Servers to ensure that data collection continues when connection with the customer is lost. All buffered data will be transferred when the connection is restored. Check and confirm buffering duration. Is this at all possible

Hi,   What is the maximum number of tags that can be configured against a single kepserver instance in a Server without any performance issue? I know the number of channels and devices are depends on the driver used. but my question is not about it. It is all about total number of tags per single Kepserver Instance without any performance issue. Your answer will be highly appreciated. Thanks. Below are the system scenarios.   1) Only Kepserver is the application running in the server except other Windows OS service. 2) Using One device per single channel configuration.  

Hello everyone, currently I'm exploring the uses of kepware server ex.Kepware I'm using is "KepserverEx V6.13 "(trial).   My problem is i cannot able to access my tags in Quickclient window, its completely empty(yesterday things were showing perfectly). I'm attaching the screenshot here.         However, if i try to add tags manually, it still doesn't work. Tags do appear but 'cross' sign inside it.   I don't know whats the problem here. Is it kepware(trial) version I'm using or something else. Guide me.   Thanks in advance...  

In my current scenario I have 2 OPC servers (KepServerEx 6.9) collecting data through the Modbus driver and making this data available in OPC UA and DA.Generally, client applications do not have redundancy tools and only my OPC01 server provides data for this type of application.Contrary to this, Osisoft PI already has a tool in its implementation that allows switching between data sources (OPC01 or OPC02).Through the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaoKidtZ82w I realized that it would be possible to create a Windows cluster to solve this problem and create a redundancy between servers.However, I did not find documentation/guide on the Kepware website that directs me to this type of implementation.Is there any? Could you refer me?PS: I'm familiar with the "Redundancy Manager" solution, but I'd rather point to a cluster than purchase additional licenses for each of the client applications.

Hello, we do a lot of development on an Allen Bradley PLC and had the question come up wondering if there is a way to read or write to the Device Level System Tags (the ._System tags) that you see in OPC Quick Client. Are there any examples or is there a way to do this? This is a 1756-L72 ControlLogix 5570 with revision 32.11 and using KepServerEx v6.10.659.0, basically the thought is can I create a tag in the PLC that can write to or read to a particular ._System tag? Or anyway to read all of the ._System tags on the PLC side?

Hello, I am quite new to using Kepware so sorry if there is a super obvious answer to this question. What are some ways a PLC can know that it has lost connection to Kepware? In one of my projects we created a handshake between Thingworx and the PLC to ensure that the PLC would know that the data had been saved on the Thingworx side.I also read about some OPC UA status codes that should be sent if the connection is lost.Is this what should be used? I have tried to find some information about this on google but haven't really had much luck, so any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks,Jens

Hi,We are attempting to activate new license based on updated sales order, but license generation is not working.During activation process, there is now a prompt window to enter credentials, which didn't happen the first time. Team is continuing to see this. Requires input for credentials, but the credentials we have on file are not working.Team has also tried to create a new user under the administrator group, but we are still unable to log in. 

All, I'm trying to clarify the terms of the Export Agreement.My company recently purchased several licenses for Kepware to be used on a project in Spain.Given that it is being developed in the United States we purchased our licenses here.The agreement states that...You will not re-export or divert any PTC software or technical data relating thereto to any third party or region and you agree to not distribute, any software, technical data or any products derived from software or technical data provided hereunder in contravention of U.S. law or regulation.Are there any issues with the route we have chosen of purchasing here in the US to be shipped to Spain? 

Hello, I have and old Kepware installation that uses OPC DA to communicate with tags in Wonderware.  I am trying to update from OPC DA to OPC UA.  All was looking good; I was able to install the OPC UA Client driver, configure it, connect to the Wonderware server, and read all tags with good quality.   The problem is that I cannot write to the tags. The tags are configured to be read/write in both Kepware and Wonderware. However, when I try to use the OPC Quick Client to write to any tag the following entry appears in the KEPServerEx log: OPC UA Client Async Write failed for 'ns=3;s=1510:IMIS.TAG1.Value' on device 'WWChannel.Wonderware'. Callback item error: 0x80004005. I have tried turning off the firewall but had the same results. From what I could read about 0x80004005 there is some resource that cannot be accessed but it is unclear which resource. Does anyone have experience with this error or have any suggestions on what to try to resolve it?&nbs
