Kepware

We are working on a scenario where we need to provide one set of two redundant OPC UA Servers that act as a proxy between our customer's system and multiple individual sets of redundant OPC UA servers.Because I do not have experience with connections to redundant OPC servers and OPC UA itself, I am not sure if this is at all possible and which packages I need for this. I tried contacting local system integrators as well as PTC itself, but I'm not getting any response. My hopes are therefore on this community! Any advise is much appreciated.Secondly there is a note from the customer that mentions functionality that is easy to understand and makes sense in a way, but it not mentioned anywhere in documentation: Buffering shall be turned on for the proxy OPC Servers to ensure that data collection continues when connection with the customer is lost. All buffered data will be transferred when the connection is restored. Check and confirm buffering duration. Is this at all possible

Hi,   What is the maximum number of tags that can be configured against a single kepserver instance in a Server without any performance issue? I know the number of channels and devices are depends on the driver used. but my question is not about it. It is all about total number of tags per single Kepserver Instance without any performance issue. Your answer will be highly appreciated. Thanks. Below are the system scenarios.   1) Only Kepserver is the application running in the server except other Windows OS service. 2) Using One device per single channel configuration.  

Hello everyone, currently I'm exploring the uses of kepware server ex.Kepware I'm using is "KepserverEx V6.13 "(trial).   My problem is i cannot able to access my tags in Quickclient window, its completely empty(yesterday things were showing perfectly). I'm attaching the screenshot here.         However, if i try to add tags manually, it still doesn't work. Tags do appear but 'cross' sign inside it.   I don't know whats the problem here. Is it kepware(trial) version I'm using or something else. Guide me.   Thanks in advance...  

In my current scenario I have 2 OPC servers (KepServerEx 6.9) collecting data through the Modbus driver and making this data available in OPC UA and DA.Generally, client applications do not have redundancy tools and only my OPC01 server provides data for this type of application.Contrary to this, Osisoft PI already has a tool in its implementation that allows switching between data sources (OPC01 or OPC02).Through the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaoKidtZ82w I realized that it would be possible to create a Windows cluster to solve this problem and create a redundancy between servers.However, I did not find documentation/guide on the Kepware website that directs me to this type of implementation.Is there any? Could you refer me?PS: I'm familiar with the "Redundancy Manager" solution, but I'd rather point to a cluster than purchase additional licenses for each of the client applications.

Dear, I am evaluating Universal Device Driver (UDD) for one on-going project using socket TCP communication. Hello, we do a lot of development on an Allen Bradley PLC and had the question come up wondering if there is a way to read or write to the Device Level System Tags (the ._System tags) that you see in OPC Quick Client. Are there any examples or is there a way to do this? This is a 1756-L72 ControlLogix 5570 with revision 32.11 and using KepServerEx v6.10.659.0, basically the thought is can I create a tag in the PLC that can write to or read to a particular ._System tag? Or anyway to read all of the ._System tags on the PLC side?

Hello, I am quite new to using Kepware so sorry if there is a super obvious answer to this question. What are some ways a PLC can know that it has lost connection to Kepware? In one of my projects we created a handshake between Thingworx and the PLC to ensure that the PLC would know that the data had been saved on the Thingworx side.I also read about some OPC UA status codes that should be sent if the connection is lost.Is this what should be used? I have tried to find some information about this on google but haven't really had much luck, so any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks,Jens

Hi,We are attempting to activate new license based on updated sales order, but license generation is not working.During activation process, there is now a prompt window to enter credentials, which didn't happen the first time. Team is continuing to see this. Requires input for credentials, but the credentials we have on file are not working.Team has also tried to create a new user under the administrator group, but we are still unable to log in. 

All, I'm trying to clarify the terms of the Export Agreement.My company recently purchased several licenses for Kepware to be used on a project in Spain.Given that it is being developed in the United States we purchased our licenses here.The agreement states that...You will not re-export or divert any PTC software or technical data relating thereto to any third party or region and you agree to not distribute, any software, technical data or any products derived from software or technical data provided hereunder in contravention of U.S. law or regulation.Are there any issues with the route we have chosen of purchasing here in the US to be shipped to Spain? 

Hello, I have and old Kepware installation that uses OPC DA to communicate with tags in Wonderware.  I am trying to update from OPC DA to OPC UA.  All was looking good; I was able to install the OPC UA Client driver, configure it, connect to the Wonderware server, and read all tags with good quality.   The problem is that I cannot write to the tags. The tags are configured to be read/write in both Kepware and Wonderware. However, when I try to use the OPC Quick Client to write to any tag the following entry appears in the KEPServerEx log: OPC UA Client Async Write failed for 'ns=3;s=1510:IMIS.TAG1.Value' on device 'WWChannel.Wonderware'. Callback item error: 0x80004005. I have tried turning off the firewall but had the same results. From what I could read about 0x80004005 there is some resource that cannot be accessed but it is unclear which resource. Does anyone have experience with this error or have any suggestions on what to try to resolve it?&nbs

Hello, In Kepware ( KepServer Ex 6 server configuration ) what is the suggested Device level scan mode? What settings are appropriate to scan 1000s of tags under each device ?   Request all data at Scan Rate Vs  Respect Client Specified Scan Rate For example , In our production system   I observed that "Respect Client Specified Scan Rate"  scan mode some opc tags are bad eventhough they are good on the source server side . After changing to " Request all data at Scan Rate",  most opc tags quality went from bad to good .    What are the pros and cons of the above settings on overall impact          

Hello, I have few questions related to OPC configuration in Kepware. Appreciate your answers1. In kepware , Are there any ways to specify/customize the deadband at Tag Level? ( currently deadband property is on the group level )2, For float data type , what is the max precision available . Is this configurable . Currently, In OPC Client I see only 3 decimal places ( example 10.213) 3.If the poll/exception update rate is 1000ms and MaxItem per Read is 512 ,  are all the 512 tags updated every 1000ms in that group? . Hi,I've setup a MQTT client sending values from different Tags. Is there a way to add the Tag description as they are setup in the Device, to the MQTT message? I've already tried adding @|TAGDESCRIPTION| to the message but this is not recognized. thanksH.

I have a primary / backup pair of machines that need to monitor each other. What is required for one machine to browse the tags of a second? Is there where DCOM is required with certificates etc?  My desire is to be able to shut off the datalogger groups on the backup when the primary is running and vice versa so I dont get duplicate entries in the SQL tables

Hello, fellow Kepwarers,      I ran into a problem that my Iot agent sent only empty response to my Django backend.      I set up an IoT agent as Rest Client and added a simulation tag. So that whenever the value changed, the agent should have sent a POST HTTP request to my backend.  The template format were kept as the default settings. However, after I edited the tag value, the mechanism worked but the Django only recieved empty request (it showed "<QueryDict:{   }>").      Can anyone shed some light on this problem? Much appreciated!

We will send you an email with a verification link."I received an e-mail in response telling me to use the "problems logging in?" link but I get no further. I think I'm in a loop.Now when I click submit "problems logging in?" I get "There was an error processing your request. Please return to the previous page and check that all fields have been filled out." even though there are no blank fields.

I try to establish the OPC communication between Kepware OPC DA Client to ABB 800xA OPC DA Server within a domain. I already follow the "Configuration Guide Remote OPC DA (DCOM)" to setup DCOM, firewall, discovery on the OPC DA Server. But it wont able to discover the OPC server through the setup wizard. In the Kepware OPC quick client can poll data from the server if I specific locate the Remote Machine IP and Prog ID. I did try to setup channel with the specific Remote Machine IP and Prog ID, but it wont poll any data, since the OPC path is wrong. For instance, the correct path isApplications.Application_1.Diagram1.MaxReal_.OutSince I created a channel in Kepware, now the path isChannel1.Device1.Applications.Application_1.Diagra m1.MaxReal_.Out. The driver wont be able to poll data from this path.Is possible to poll data from ABB OPC DA Client from an external machine? and what setup I have not done?    

Hello everyone,   I do have a question regarding error 0xc0040007 in version 6.13.250.0 which occurring when I am trying to ask for a value from Fanuc via Focas driver. In previous version 6.7.1046.0 problem doesn't exist. I have exported and imported whole configuration tree in order to upgrade already OPC server (from 6.7 to 6.13). Both are fully licensed so that is out of scope but where all Siemens devices are responding correctyly, all those with mentioned Fanuc controllers are not providing any requests for a values (I've checked on Firewalls on the way)  When I try to use Quick OPC Client I am receiving :Failed to add item (...device path.value) to group (the same device path) (HR=0xc0040007).         Have you got any clues where to search for any solution?Thnx in advance
