Mathcad

Ladies and gents, We use MathCAD 15 in our office and we have an excel component in a mathcad sheet that works fine for some people but when some users open the sheet they get the following message - 'Warning: an unrecoverable read error has occurred. 1 regions could not be read from this document.' the excel component is then deleted. There are only 24 inputs (that have 8 values within them) to the excel component, so its not even that large. We are all operating on the latest MathCAD 15 release for windows 10. Any ideas?  

Hi,          I am trying to determine the resuspension rate, Λi (t) , in the i th layer for a multi layer resuspension model. One needs to determine the number of exposed particles , ni (ra',t), in the ith layer to determine the resuspension rate. I am kind of stuck here. I would greatly appreciate the help. I am attaching the file (Check the last page). If you feel any parameter is missing, fill in an arbitrary value.    Regards

I have a problem with Mathcad 15 on Windows 10. Whenever the computer is restarted I am forced to re-enter the student license. Is there a way to fix this so I don't have to dig up my license and go through the licensing process every time my computer reboots?

I apologize in advance for asking this because I know I have asked it before but I couldn't find the post where I did it. I had to re-install MathCad 14 and now print preview crashes. There was an update that solved this. Could someone point me to it?   (When I tried to get a list of my posts, I only get one from 2007 and this also appears as my latest post - so maybe someone can give me some advice on this, too.)

I have a repeating problem in the new release of Mathcad 15, namely the M050 release.   I frequently use reference sheets.  If I make a change in the reference sheet from the main sheet, close the reference sheet by saving it, it does indeed change the reference sheet in its location.  However, the main code frequently does not recognize the change.  If I simply close the main code and reopen it runs correctly with the change I made before closing. I frequently experience a similar problem when just making any variable or formula change to a sheet and rerunning the sheet.  It doesn't recognize the change.  Again, if I close the sheet and reopen, it runs correctly.  Also, if I make the changes at another location in the sheet and paste it into the place where I wanted the change, the sheet runs correctly. Frequently, it does not recognize changes to a vector or matrix index [j until I close the sheet and reopen and then run. I did not have these prob

So now i've encountered a problem.. I want to use explicit on a formula, the error appears, saying that ' this varaiable in endefined'. I ve checked twice and it IS DEFINED. Look at my worksheet. Due this reason I'm not able to obtain the result...

Good day   Any advice on the following use case would be appreciated. I'm designing 2 non round variable pitch cams. Most of the calculations I've done in Excel but have gotten stuck on finding the angle of rotation of the second cam so that a vector of the cam passes through a point. I can do a Matrix translation and rotation on the vector but need to find that angle. There is a measured geometrical solution in CAD that works, but it takes very long to make changes so would like another solution.   Hi, can i please know the method for this condition. 1st row value of ADC matrix should compare with ADC_LUT matrix and take the next higher and lower value. for eg-if 3996 from ADC matrix is compared with ADC_LUT matrix , it should take out 3997 & 3968 value from ADC_LUT matrix. similarly for other value to.   Regards, Kishore

How can I add a conditional formating to mathcad sheet similar to what excel. Where the results of a results checks highlights in different colors depending on the results check (ie. if 1 > 0 highlight as green, and if 1 < 0 highlight as red)?

Hi everyone. Today I faced a very weird issue in Mathcad.  When I define any variable with unit "m" my mathcad is multiplying by 3/m by itself. I was using my mathcad files  without any issue but yesterday I updated my windows from 7 to 10  and since then this crazy issue is appearing.  I mean when I write A:=3m. then when I type A=, it shows A=9. Or when I define a variable as B:= 3 kNm, then it reverts it back automatically  to B=9kN Does anyone knows what is the reason of this issue?

A question regarding mathcad's use of units and one regarding the result of a calculation:   1.  at the bottom of page two, is there a way to delete the extraneous unit conversions (1/m * m * 1/ft * ft)?   2.  in the final calculation on page 4, i would like to have mathcad show the result of each of increment calculations (one value for each value of delta sigma v_i) and then i can add a summation function to obtain the final result shown (0.901 in.   any assistance would be appreciated.

Hello,   I have a question regarding my work. In my file, if I define the units of "lambda" as per "m" then the values of phi have some negative values but if I define the "lambda" as per "cm" then I do not have any negative values of phi. Please help me out about the issue as to why it causes this positive and negative issues only for changing the units. My Mathcad version is prime 4.0.   Thank you, Faisal

Hiya,   (Mathcad Noob here 🙂 ) I'm trying to get Mathcad Prime to do a relatively simple plot using an adjacency matrix and homogeneous data points. In Matlab I can do this quite simple like so:       Which results in this:   Now if I try to the same in Mathcad I get this (dont mind the 3d plots, just fiddling around):     I'm sure its because I don't know what I'm doing, since I'm still relatively new in mathcad. And it might even not be possible to do in Mathcad. But I was hopeing someone could enlighten me.   Thanx.

I am sure there is a simple solution to my question.... give the attached file, I am trying to compute the radiant energy from a fire to a target (using the point source method) and wish to turn the 2D plot into a 3D plot as a function of distance and angle from the fire.  Meaning, if the fire is at coordinates 0,0, I am trying to figure out the commands for placing the target from 1 m to a given distance (in this case 121m) from the fire in any direction along the x,y coordinates and then plot in 3D.... I am sure its easy, but this rookie can't figure it out... Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi , I am trying to solve this equation and it seems it can't be solved because of both "1" from the equation. Could you please help me find what units should i attribute to that values of "1" ? Thanks.  

Does anyone have suggestions on how to actually get support for MathCad? I've been trying for months (closer to a year) to fix a problem, where PTC screwed up and added our new MathCad user to another customers account, because our companies had similar names. Because he is not an admin, I can't get into their software tools, and our software does not seem to be registered correctly.   Emails go months without responses, their phone system is always "experiencing difficulties" and messages left do not get a call back. Have submitted more than once case for this. This is easily the most ridiculous lack of support I have encountered. It's impossible to get a live person on the phone to fix what should be a very simple thing.   Anyone have any ideas how I can actually get support for this software? Thanks! Michael

All,    I'm attempting to start what should be a simple geotechnical effective stress calculation. My first step is defining a soil unit weight profile as a function of depth (z) in an efficient and robust method. In the past, I've used "if statements" to control this however they are cumbersome and not very sophisticated. An example of what I've done in the past is shown on Page 2 of the attached worksheet.    On Page 1 I attempted using "vlookup", however I ran into numerical issues and precision errors due to TOL...ideally, I would like to end up with a function that is as simple as the "vlookup" approach, but with the precision of the function defined by the "if statement". Any suggestions would be appreciated...I've attempted "for loops" and "while loops" without any success.    Thanks in advance!
