I am trying to use the Solve Block, but it is apparently just spitting my guesses back out as the solution. It is not taking into acount the known values. I haven't used MathCAD since ~2007, so I'm frustrated by Prime 3.0. the known values are the Droad....R. The guesses were Smc, and muI've tried drastically changing the known quantities, only to see no change in the output. I also tried moving the known quantities outside the Solve Block. Am I using the wrong "="sign ?I back-checking someone else's work(and relearning some MathCAD) and I know what values they obtained using a similar method.
I have a MCAD file from a version 12 that now requires a different set of tricks in ver 15 to make it work. I'm trying to understand why, and if there is really a better way to approach to original solution. We are not using MCAD Prime at this time.thanks,Brian
Hello,Another problem I'm having is with graphing if statements. I tried the milti-line one a I wouldn't graph and I couldn't get the single line if(test, true, false) to work. I have tried both with and with out units. The if statement doesn't like the variable with a range. I tried to do vectro selection, the [ , but that didn't work either. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question with an easy solution, I think it is. Thanks,
I am trying to check if my Minerr solution to a nonlinear-regression, Levenberg-Marquardt curvefit of a circle to data points worked correctly. I did not get an error message, so I think the iterations converged. But I cannot check simply by the error at each data point, because, obviously, it is a minimization problem, so one expects to get error at each data point - it is a best curvefit problem. I set the TOL and CTOL convergence-error values to 1e-010, and I still got no error message. So I think it converged, but I want to make sure. If I could confirm that a non-trivial number of iterations was performed, then I could be somewhat reassured. But if it stopped after, say, 2 iterations, then I would guess that something got misinterpreted by Mathcad, perhaps in the required vectorization.
Hello, Dear Mathcad users! It's my first lessons on mathcad prime 2.0, and I'am trying to create a plot with error bars (Y and X axis).I managed with Y-axis, but I cannot make the same on X-axis.Could somebody help me how to do it?The file I've created attached.Andrey KIselevStudent of Moscow State University.
Hi,I am working on this worksheet, and I cannot get Mathcad to plot my equation. I get the following error: "Plotting Failed. Replace complex values and NaNs by real numbers."I am not using any complex values and I shouldn't have any NaNs unless their is a syntax issue.I have looked through many resources, and I haven't found a solution to this seemingly simple problem. Thanks in advance,Charlie
Could anyone help me with writing a program to generalize the attached calculation?
Hello all,I'm trying to us the find fuction to solve an exponetal equation. I think my problem with the first Find(A.c) is that the value its solving for is around 10^-17 and it wants to say it's zero but can't becaure the value isn't zero. The second Find(T.f) I think is simular, I still get an error if I set a value for A.co. Ihave aslo tried to do this problem with out units and I get the same error. If anyone has any sugestions that would be great.
Does anyone have a fucntion or neat way to shapean area under a graph?
I wanna estimate k0, n, and k in the ODEs, but cannot let Minerr() run in my calculating sheet. but flexPDE can give a reasonable answersee the attached picture:
Where di I find the file to convert old MathCAD files?
Is there a function for natural trig outputand not radians ie sine(45)=.70711?
Hi all, Thanks is advance.I am making a graph for moments vs load radius..My Load radius start at 10.3m and hence the graph lines also start at that point (the vertical line in the document). But I want those lines to start from zero ( I mean y axis). How can I do so?I am making these plots against LoadRadius, Rw which has three values in a matirx but my other variables just has one constant value. So how can I put these constant value against three load radius, which will utimately produce a straight horizontal line. Here in the graph I have used a technique writing Friction= C*Rw/Rw which is not smart way I think.I am using mathcad prime 3.0Best RegardsJahangir Hossain
Does the information given by the system mean that mathcad cannot handle this kind of parabolic equation?
One of our engineers mentioned that text boxes always change size when re-opening a file. So if his file contained a text box with 3 lines of text when he re-opens the file the text box has changed to 6 lines of text and the text box is smaller. He said this has been on ongoing issue since time began. Can someone shed some light on this?
Document interaction in Prime is so awkward and time-consuming that it makes users mutter, "This is garbage," (or words to that effect) and swear never to to use Prime again. That can't be good for marketing or sales. These simple actions - moving around in a document, cutting/copying and pasting regions from one place to another, expanding and collapsing areas, editing equations and programs, and so on - are performed constantly when developing a worksheet. Making them easy to do should be a design priority. Yet, in that area, Prime is perhaps the worst of all significant Windows programs. It's serious. Although lack of some advanced features may disappoint users, document interaction problems actually repel them. Fixing those problems should be a priority, if only to keep PTC's user base. Some are listed below in the hope that they will be fixed. Anyone care to add to the list?* Prime is slow and unresponsive. The delayed imaging of characters when typing in a text box is merely irrita
I got error in left of the picture. so I did tracking. and I knew first error by using traking. But I can't understand the reason that error is generated. error is said that you can't divide '0'.
I tried to finish following process. But I continually got error when I coded. So I uploaded process steps. and I also attached my files.I am early step about studying 'mathcad'. So I want you to help.
How do i create a surface/mesh in mathcad?and will it be possible to take the surface/mesh to Creo, and vice versa?
Hello.I just got the Mathcad15 from my school with the license code for the Student-Edition.I installed everything and it also said that it was installed correctly and it is all finished. Now I wanted to open it and it gives me following message:The first line translated means that my requested license has a failure. The last ones mean that i can press "Yes" to restart the license-setup-assistent and try open Mathcad again after that. That didn´t help. Can somebody please help me?Sorry for my bad english, I´m from Austria 😉Kind regards
Hi there,Not sure if I have an incorrect implementation/setup or if it's some kind of bug...If I perform the following in Mathcad 2001i, it works instantly:If I perform the same in Mathcad 15 it will not solve and I eventually I get the message "Condition contains Otherwise in subexpression".I have attached the files I have been using for your perusal.
Please could the Mathcad team in PTC compile the next 040 release of Mathcad 15 as 64bit as well as 32 bit. For those of us who still love Mathcad 15 and could do with the extra memory it would be a big help without any great effort from PTC.Andrew
Hi,Pretty new user to mathcad, was introduced to it as a way of formatting equations for validation and checking purposes. Please see the attached mathcad page for a page of calcs that I'm struggling with. Its calculations for a variable section beam, done as part of an ANSYS validation exerciseCalculations are on deflection of a beam per unit of force applied.Hopefully my equations are understandable, I've included references for relevant dimensions and theory. My question:When writing functions f(z), how do you define the units of the z variable? Is there a simple way of doing this that I have missed?I've set up calculations for Moment of inertia: I(z), using the height of the section: (z) as a variable. The issue that I seem to be having: z is dimensionless, but I want units of this variable to be mmNot having a unit assigned to the z variable causes several issues:I later use the unit load method to calculate deflection (per unit force: mm/N) This involves a definite integral in terms
I have been playing around using different methods to solve a polynomial equation and need the help of one of the 'symbolic guru's on here.I have managed to solve the equation and evaluated numerically, but have the following queries:Can I force the symbolic result to return only real valuesIs 'float' required to evaluate the symbolic expression numericallyIs there a more elegant way to solve this equation. Thanks,Mike
I'm using code off of a project partner where he laid out a find/given function using the programming feature. In most instances it works, however when I change a variable value or add a variable to the equation, it goes "undefined" and will no longer give me an answer. This seems work well when we did the original calculation sheet, however, when I go and try to make revisions to it there are problems that always occur.Even when I just copy and paste the parts to another worksheet it stops working.I didn't want to redo his entire worksheet using another method to find the answers. Does anyone know why I would keep having problems with this method? Is there some syntax that is very discrete that I'm missing? If not solving through this method, do you have a recommendation? Thanks,Nick
