Hi everyone,I am creating File or Database management system for my project using macro, so i need to secure my my .ism datas.I would like to know whether is there any option to Lock .ism files.And also I woluld like to know there is any option to automatically update macros while working. ie. I have a macro which would create new .ism files and run the same. But while a macro is running the newly created macro by a macro does not have any effect. I have one question related to DCF file. Using ElementOption in DCF we can hide the unnecessary elements from insert list of the Arbortext Editor view. Actually it hides the element from all the places over the document (top to bottom of DTD contexts). But I would like to hide the elements based on the particular context. Not on all the places.For ex. I would like to hide few elements from insert list (e.g. <menucascade>) under <note> but not under <p>..How do I accomplish this? Could you please help to find the way!.

I have to click and drag to select a word, previous version of arbortext would let you doubleclick to select a word.Is this perhaps a hidden preference setting?Any ideas? (we are version 5.3)

Hi Folks,I work for a small government contractor near HillAir Force Base,Utah. We have to generate TOs for the mechanical solutions we develop for various aircraft. Until recently we generated Word and unstructured FrameMaker docs. Now the government wants SGML docs written to 38784STD-Bv8a, which is the DTD the government has developed and supplies from their TMSS website.We recently purchased Arbortext Editor release 6.0 (Pine). I got it installed on one PC, and have gone through the editor tutorial. Now I am trying to figure out how to get the editor to work with the DTD.I have no structured authoring experience and don't know what to do next. Hi,We are in the process of implementing Arbortext 6.0 with DITA (upgrading from previous version of Arbortext and non-DITA DTDs). We want to use a central image web server to manage our image files and reference them in the DITA topics using URLs (e.g., http://myserver.com/digitalasset/cnt070794.jpg). To do this we tried setting an image element to have href="http://myserver.com/digitalasset/cnt070794.jpg" and scope="external" but this is causing an error during the completeness check:ERROR: Dita reference "http://myserver.com/digitalasset/cnt070794.jpg"on image element in "Document1" does not refer to a dita/ditabase document.This error doesn't happen if I insert the same image URL in a non-DITA document in Arbortext 6.0, so I'm assuming it's part of the enhanced DITA completeness check. Does anyone know how to get this error to go away? Is there another attribute that we need to set besides scope?Thanks,Jessica

Hi EveryoneA couple of questions for you:1. Is it possible in IsoDraw 7.2 to convert several ellipses at once into inner threads? Rather than selecting each one individually and changing the attribute in the Element Info dialog box.2. When opening a new drawing it tells me in Preferences that Isometric Foreshortening is OFF (ie, the 'No Isometric Forsshortening' box is checked). However, this is not the case as unchecking the box and then rechecking it causes the grid to change. This seems to have been a bug in IsoDraw for many years. Is there a fix for this?Thanks

Adepters:We have documents that use text entities extensively. One referenced text entity file has more than 175,000 entity declarations (not intended for authors to use or insert). However, when you try to pull down the toolbar text entity list, the editor hangs and has to be killed with task manager. If you, instead, open the text entity dialog box, it does open and is usable. Anyone know of any way to limit what goes into the pull-down list? Or, is this likely a PTC case?Thanks,DaveUsing AE 5.4 patch M100.

Does anyone a pdf that has hotspots that link a part number from a parts list to a parts illustration?

Hello all,I'm a newbie to this and need some help. I have a large XML file with several graphics in it - when I open it in Arbortext Editor, the graphics display just fine. When I go to compose it to a PDF, the graphics won't publish...I get a finished PDF with all text and no graphics. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?Thanks

I am working with Arbortext PE 5.4 100, using FOSI. I am wondering if anyone has tried to place text in the page margin outside of the defined flowtext area (one column layout). If so, is it possible to do text rotated from the rest of the flowtext?I am just throwing some questions out there, this isn't a hard and fast requirement, but one possible approach to an issue I need to address. I hear it's possible to do this sort of thing in APP, but I'm trying not to head down that road yet if I don't have to...Thanks,-Jason A. Buss

Hi Adepters-- Does anyone know of a way to update the gentext just for a singleelement in a document? For example, after some code makes a change to anattribute value, I would like the gentext for the element to be updatedto reflect the change in the editor view--but I don't want to do aglobal refresh for the entire document (which can take a long time) justto pick up that one change. I'm looking for something like this, in thecase where the gentext includes some attribute value: function update_element(oid, attrname, attrval) { # update the OID oid_modify_attr(oid, attrname, attrval); # refresh the OID's gentext to pick up the change oid_update_gentext(oid);} I'm trying to either discover a built-in function to do the job of"oid_update_gentext(oid)", or write one of my own, but so far haven'thad any luck. Hi, Is there a way to create custom line styles? I need to generate a box in which the line style is a gray bit pattern. The pattern I'm seeking is similar to the 15% gray in the pattern section of the fill window. I already have the box (using the rectangles tool) and have set the correct line width. I just can't seem to be able to customize the dot pattern.Thanks

Hi,I'm trying to get PNG images to scale properly in Editor withStyler (APP Engine, 6.0 M030).The Editor documentation (from the Help) says that to have PNGscale properly to the dimensions embedded in the PNG itself, youshould "set APTPNGUSERES=y": * By default, Arbortext Editor ignores any PNG resolution setting and uses a setting of 72 dpi. To set Arbortext Editor to recognize embedded PNG resolution settings, set the value of <APTPNGUSERES">http://127.0.0.1:61832/aeHelp/../aeAdmin/help17.html#help17>APTPNGUSERES to any value except n or N It's not clear to me where this should be set. Adepters,Having a table entry and page overrun issue using a FOSI on Arbortext 5.2 with Print Composer. Our customer requires that table entries be contained on a page and not be allowed to span across page boundries. By placing a keeps on the entries in the fosi, the entries will (correctly) not span across pages. However, we are having a serious side effect. When the entry (that would have spanned the page boundry)begins on the following page, it overruns the text on that page. In other words, it appears the text from the entry elementis layed on top of the existing text on the page.Any suggestions?

I can see whether the specific documents are read-only using the doc_read_only() function, but it will return 0 (not read-only) for a given doc when Editor was started with the -r switch (session read-only) and that doc had doc_read_only(doc, 0) called on it, even though the session state seems to take precedence.I can't seem to find anything in ACL or in the API for other languages like Java that indicates whether Editor was started as read-only. I also looked for something that would return the command line string that started Editor so I could search for "-r" in that string, but I can't seem to find anything like that, either. We are currenlty working on getting setup in PDMLink (9.1) with arbortext editor (5.4)contentand have come accross a question.The question is releated to state changes.Currenlty it dosen't appear that a state change will generate a new rendition. Is there a way to make a state change trigger a new rendition. We are comming from Documentum and we used to use a state change to remove watermarks.Thanks in advance!

Adepters:Some of our deliverables are in the form of PDF collections (dozens of PDFs that can be launched from a Web page). We generate these using PE 5.3, direct-to-PDF. The group that maintains the PDF collection has a manual process for generating a PDF search index of the entire collection using the standard Acrobat tool. This, of course, is a manual and somewhat arduous task. So, I'm being asked if there's any way to automate this process (building the Acrobat search index). I'm pretty sure PE can't help - at least I couldn't find any mention of that in the PE Programmer's Guide, so I'm wondering if any of you have created these indexes and perhaps found a better method (automating the Acrobat tool, third party software, etc.)?Thanks in advance,Dave

Probably I'm just wiped after a long day, but I am processing six childrenof an element with essentially the same code. Variables and arrays changenames following the names of the children. Child 5 fails. If I move child5's code into the 1st position, it succeeds. Since all the time reading mycode for coding errors has eaten my day, I'm now going to quit. However,tomorrow, if I don't see something Duh-Obvious when I get back to it ... myquestion stands.And what else am I forgetting to think about going down that same track ...code that works/fails depending on its order?-- Paul Nagai

Hi,I'm working on a project where there is a lot of isodraw drawings to be translated from english to different foreign languages.The customer is using the Trados SDL translation memory and I was wondering if there was some experience in doing that ?More precise questions are :- does SDL accept the iso draw format ?- as an alternative, does someone have experience in exporting text from drawing, translating it and reimporting ? Is it standard features ? How it works ?- as an other alternative,is it possible to do that with an intermediate other format without loosing information ?As you see, we're looking for different ways for solving the problem and all other alternatives are welcome.Thanks and regards, Pierre

Is there a way to suppress the new line feed when using Fwrite or Log?Here is the situation. I have multiple iso files with, on average, 30 text elements on a page. On each line of the output I need the file name, tab, and then a comma separated list of the text element content. With a 256 character limitation for variables building the string there is out. I also thought of using an echo statement with the Launch command but see that as being troublesome as they CMD windows will end up blocking access to file unless there is a pause inbetween (which I'm trying to avoid).Ideas?

Hello,When I use the "Convert to header rows" option under the table menu, AT converts the select rows under <thead>. However it automatically sets the valign attribute to top on every entry in thead on the converted row. Is there a preference or option to restrict this. I am using AT 5.4Karthik
