We have been trying to install Arbortext S1000D, Publishing Engine, Content Manager, and Editor all on the same server. We have a Virtual Machine setup to host all of these applications, but we are running into the issue of the FlexLM not reading the licenses for Editor or Publishing Engine. Now the licensing info look completely different for S1000D than it does for Editor or Publishing Engine. Can anyone give some advice as to what we need to do?

Hi all,We have several different projects to create DITA contents.Those projects have no relation to one another so that we would like to manage them separetely. Hi all ,I am new to Arbortext Editor.I have a requirement in which .I batch file should open two file in comparemode where one is the latest version in read/write mode and other is the last version in the read only mode .for example:I Have two files for example C:/testA/a.xml (Latest version ) and C:/testB/a.xml (previous version)These files content may be same or differentI need to write a .bat file which opens the compare result of both the above file.There is a Compare_files() method .But i don't know exactly how to use this .I tried in below way:editor -c compare_files("testA/a.xml", "/testB/a.xml")But it dont work

We have a customised side by side that is based on the Technical Information Application. We have the ability to add multiple procbodies. This allows us to use a page wide image with a two column table below it. The issue we are having is that If we use numbered steps in the first procbody, the numbering will not continue in the second procbody. If we have two procbodies that have the two column table in them, the number will contine. Where do I need to look to fix my issue?See attached Image.Thanks,Bryon

In short, Arbortext is continue the numbering from a sublist onto the next item in the parent list.I'm trying to develop a workaround by adding a new counter for the sublist. However, my counter is enumerating at the wrong level.Consider the following markup....<amend><provbody><prov><subprov><label>1</label></subprov> <subprov><label>2</label></subprov>....</amend>I want the subprov/label to increment. However, what I am seeing happen is the enumeration is occuring at the <amend> level instead. I'm trying to create a batch file to export an .xml to a .html file.In Arbortext Editor 6.0 M100 there's a feature that allows you to export a file to .htmFile->Save as HTMLIn a batch file I simply used:"editor.exe" -c "FileSaveAsHTML" "file.xml"It essentially opens the xml file and a dialog appears to save as an html file.Is there a way to have this command in silent mode that allows the file to save?Using the argument "-b" doesn't allow overwrites, which I think the dialog is messing up.Is there another way to go about doing this? Perhaps a macro would be used instead?Any suggestions are welcomed.

Hi,Has anyone had any luck creating publishing rules for individual documentsand controlling the output directory and file name? Specifically, myauthors want to direct output to a specific folder and they want thefilename to be the name of the XML file. (Most important, I think, is thefilename.)I can see (although I didn't try to change it) that there might be somecontrol using %n %u and %s but none of those values reference the sourceXML instance's filename.I'm wondering if there are options/parameters I can specify on the Advancedtab that would do this. Dear all,Is there any method to change the version of an isodraw file so that it an higher version file can be opened in the lower version.For example: We have fewer IsoDraw 7 versions and more of IsoDraw 6.1. Whenever illustrations saved in Ver. 7.0 need to be worked on in 6.1, we have to go to the 7.0 system and save as it to 6.0. It is very time consuming.I wanted to know whether any of you can help me out, like is there any way we can tweak the Ver7.0 file in notepad so that it opens in Ver 6.0.Regards,Rahul KULKARNI

The application opens fine, but when I select File > Print... or click theprint icon on the toolbar ribbon, the following error displays:[A18115] Error in initialization file:C:\Arbortext\custom\editinit\alias_fileprint.acl,[A11378] Can't redefine alias "FilePrint" since it is currently executing.And, actually, it WORKS ok if you don't mind clicking OK on the errordialog.What am I forgetting?I've also attempted to menu_change File.Print, menu_delete File.Print andmenu_add File.Print but I can't do those without errors when theapplication loads. (It then works, but I think it throws another error thefirst time I use it. Then it's fine after that.)I don't think it is a menu label issue like the $DeleteMarkupLabel issue wediscussed a while back. Arbortext Editor 5.3Logged into the AAD S1000D CSDBProblem:I noticed that when I cut and "Paste Excel" my table appears in my S1000D document but the cells are empty. The reason for this is that not all of the markup is supplied during the "Paste Excel" function. Since the content is not valid it does not appear. The content of each cell is not wrapped with <para> tags.Workaround:1. Turn off Context Rules, Menu: Tools/Context Rules to uncheck Context Checking temporarily, you will receive a warning.Now because Context Rules are off you can paste anything you want into the document at any positon. Choose a valid location you know that will accept your table markup when you validate later.2. Menu: Edit\Paste Excel, check or uncheck the boxes you need, and select how many rows are title rows, click OK.The content of the entire table will be pasted into the S1000D document. To those of you folks who use Army TMSS documents and are wondering what hashappened to the ASRL, well I am hearing rumors that it MAY be back upsometime this month or early February. Now if APD will just realize it needs to get involved with supporting whatis posted there things will be nice. I would also recommend caution in using any DTD supporting theMIL-STD-40051-1B/-2B revision. There are a lot of issues in that DTD. I amaware of at least 20 changes made in the revision requiring a DTD changethat were not made. Lynn

The preferences have been set so that "auto save" runs every 10 minutes. Can anyone tell me where these files are being saved? Which folder? I'm trying to retrieve the files after Arbortext crashed.I thought that these files would be saved in the folder called users\... \AppData\local\PTC\Arbortext\Editor\.aptcache.Thanks

When publishing we are having the issue with some of our output that the heading and a line or two of the short description are on the bottom of the page instead of being pushed to the top of the next page with its content. I expect the change I need to make is in styler, Which element or elements would I need to change. I think the issue is mostly with the formating of topics. To I need to adjust the keeps for the topic element, or title in topic element?ThanksBryon

When using Arbortext Editor 6.0 eith Styler, trying to 'print preview' a document returns error code [A30081] Preview: Graphics path too long?I do see the preview, the graphics are there. but the event log shows this:ERROR Preview: Graphics path too longERROR Failure post-processing for composer type pdf.FATAL ERROR Operation terminated.

So, I have setup our instance of Arbortext Content Manager and we are just testing all the features of the application out. We keep getting an error when we go to upload documents to the folder area. Here is the error.An exception occurred in the JS API browseForFile().Error name: TypeError.Error message: fileSelectionApplet.getTargetApplet is not a function.I dont know Java so I am not sure what is going on exactly here. Any help someone can provide is greatly appreciated. We are using ACM 10.0 Datecode F000 by the way.Thanks,Jamie

How should one switch to a different DTD?I'm using 5.4 m170 with SGML locally. I was given a new DTD with a different name. I compiled the new DTD and it failed with a syntax error, so I recompiled the old DTD successfully, saved the SGML file but it's still using the new DTD. Recompiled again, saved, shut down Arbortext, opened it again and SGML is still using the new DTD. The catalog is pointing to the old DTD.The new DTD was uploaded to the PE Server without changing the catalog path. I asked someone in production to recompile the new DTD sincer her SGML file couldn't f ind the old DTD, and the compile succeeded. But every time she opens the SGML file it says it can't find the DTD, and then it can't find the stylesheet, either. I assumed it was because the catalog path had to be renamed to the new DTD but I thought saving the SGML file after recompiling the new DTD would have overridden that. Anyway, they renamed the new DTD on the server to match the old DTD.I still would like to k

We are migrating from Arbortext 5.3 for Unix to Arbortext 6.0 for Windows. All of our content will stay on our Unix file system. We have many customizations which call perl and shell scripts on the Unix system. From the Arbortext 6.0 installation, I have figured out how to run these scripts using PuTTY to generate a tunnel to the Unix server. How do I grab the output of one of these scripts to insert that data back into the XML file I am working on? For example, one of the scripts in question, uses the name of the journal and the manuscript id number to query our database for the DOI of the manuscript in question. Hello every one,Until today I did not have to use footnotes in my documentation and I have an issue. I used the <fn> tag to create my footnote and inserted the content as below with an ID. But in my PDF I do not have a footnote at the bottom of the page, I only get the small 1 beside the text. Does anybody have a clue about what I did wrong? I am trying to find the way to insert the footnote automatically in the footer, but I can not find it.Thanks,
