Has anyone had an issue with auto lock on add to workspace not removing the lock but still allowing check out? In general this has worked reasonably well in our environment but I had a case earlier where one of our engineers had a file open (NX) that was locked in the workspace. At some point he started editing the file and had (after initial edits in NX) remembered to unlock and check out the file. In the workspace, the CAD is showing as checked out to the user but with no local modifications. In NX it's showing the changes, but the file shows as locked and the changes cannot be saved to the workspace. Not sure where to look for potential causes here. We were able to save the file out of Windchill and import the content as the next version but I'd like to make this not happen again. 

Hi, I am able to complete the 3 stages for adding an attachment to a Document using the REST api successfully. Is it  possible to add a description to the attachment using the REST api as well? 

I read over Chaitanya Jagdale's J&J presentation from PTCUser. They presented their solution for compilation of a technical document for regulators. This use case is similar to a request I have regarding RFQs and POs. Currently, this involves 30-50 documents, correspondences, multiple suppliers, quotes and extracts of tech data from Engineering.    Packages and deliveries are a definite partial solution for gathering STEP/PDF and other stuff from Engineering structures. I was wondering what is the best approach/objects to capture the other stuff. This is to be a living collection which some structure, workflow, lifecycle, going from RFQ to PO, and needs to be auditable years later.   J&J's solution used a Part object as the seed, plans, and documents to capture everything. First thought was to create a doc type and load all the content as attachments. We can links to any related Packages and deliverables, and add in all related files. Draw backs is that the files

I would like to add some inputs to my promotion request approve task.  There are comment inputs and vote inputs.... but I wanted to add a could of boolean attributes (radio buttons would be nice) for common reasons for rework.  Then, I can collect report data about why Promotion requests are being sent back for rework.Missing DimsNotesGD&TDesign IssueStuff like that. I thought I saw an article that says it's not possible but want to ask the community if they think otherwise or have an alternative solution. The referenced buzz kill...https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS310508

OK, hear me out.We went down the path of using a downstream "view" from our upstream Design view on the same part type of Engineering Part. We ran into a bunch of problems.COTS and Standard parts don't revise and should not have a downstream view. They are already in the manufacturing view. So we found them all and switched them to a new soft type of wtPart and set the view to manufacturing.Building manufacturing from previous revisions of the engineering part that are not interchangeable (I know, it's bad practice). This was a mess in BOM Transformer as the tool assumes all previous upstream are equivalent to all downstream.Variances. We need our manufacturing to move ahead of engineering often, to do that they need to revise the manufacturing view of the part. Can help to point to the file name which stores the database table for PDM

I am new in our company, And the creo is really slow when use windchill: 1. After opened some parts from windchill server for 1 or 2 days , the loacal windchill identify thoese parts are new parts ; 2.Some times after you saved the modification in local cache, and later when you reopen those parts you will find you lose the modifications. 3..For big assmbly model, you already opened it from windchill server, but when you closed the creo and reopen the model again , you will find it still very slow. Is there any clue for we can optimize our windchill or creo ?

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 11.2 and Datecode with CPS 11.2.0.2Thumbnail attribute is added to Info page layout. This is supposed to be added in reports.Its working on VM with demo data, but not on any server where visualization is generated through workers.

For those that are using DTI, is there a way to predefine a document subtype of an incoming file that is dragged and dropped in? Creating a new document through a right click launches the Windchill menu and that works, but drag and drop seems to default to the parent wt.doc.WTDocument type.

Hello I am a new user for Creo and windchill, Is there any solution to show the windchill check in, check out state in 3D view, Yes there is a inner brower we can check the inforamtion in a big table, its easy for small project; But for large project, the table is not very easy for human be .   So if there is any solution to show the state in 3d window, by color? Or some special icons use in structural tree? Thanks in advance!

HiWe have a number of customization api's running in Windchill that take effect when promotion occurs. As this is generating a fair amount of logging I decided to put this in a separated log file.I use next configuration for this (log4jMethodServer.properties):This creates also a log file for both method server processes (javaMS.exe) and one for the background method server (avaBGM.exe). The loggers with id 21024 & 14912 are method server logs that I do not want. The are empty too.What am I doing wrong to get these extra logfiles for the method servers? I am only interested in deriving the output from original the BM method server to the CustomLogger.

Is it possible in Windchill to prevent the download of additional files pdf, dxf, dwg (see image 2.png) of a representation?I found in the support an article https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/cs49421 which reports to the policy on the derived image object.If I apply it and deny the download, the representation is no longer displayed and I cannot open it with creo view.(see image 1.png) What other ways are there?Ty,Matteo.

Hi there, I recently switched from Windchill Essentials to PDMLink.In Windchill Essentials the worker created several export formats according to the EPM-doc-type (pdf for drawings, step for cad-parts, etc.).Though I did not changed "Creo View Configuration for Site"(under Site->Utilities->Visualization Configuration Administration ), additional files under "representations" are no longer created.e.g.a cad-part, which was released and published under Windchill Essentials, shows an available step-download a cad-part, which was released under PDMLink, shows no step-file where to start?  

I'm trying to figure out how to add a condition on an attribute constraint. Here is the scenario I'm looking to solve.I have 2 different Organizations in my Windchill 10.2 M010 environment, Org1 and Org2. I have different users in each organization and they cannot see the data of the other org. My Soft Type (MyDocType) is defined at Site level. It has an IBA called docCode, which has a Legal Value List constraint on it.Here is my question: Can I put a condition on this IBA so that the users in Org1 see the list of values: A, B, C; and the users in Org2 see the list of values: D, E, F?

Hello All,   I am just having  a hard time understanding if Windchill can do what I need.  Perhaps it can I'm just not understanding the method.   I have attributes "MAKE_BUY" and "MFG".  I would like the value of "Make_Buy" drive the Value of "MFG"   If Make_BUY = M then MFG = "XXXX" (string) If Make_Buy = B then MFG = (list of about 8 string values).   Any help would be appreciated
