Windchill

We have the system set so objects in the Library are downloaded to a workspace as read-only items. However, the users still have the ability to check-out these objects, but not check-in. Is there a setting to prevent check-out of a read-only object in the workspace?   Windchill 11.0 M030, Creo 4 M080 soon to be Windchill 11.1 M020, Creo 7 or 8

Looking for some clarification on the Windchill CAD Integration matrix regarding Solidworks 2021.   As shown below, SW2021 is supported for CPS17 and CPS20. Does this mean it is not supported in CPS18 or CPS19.  We are currently on CPS19 and after consecutive defects in CPS16-CPS18, I'm a bit reluctant to install CPS20 unless its the only way to have proper support for Solidworks 2021.   

After uploading drawing into Windchill, the PDF will be generated,however, the Chinese fonts are showing as all "SQUARES" in PDF.  Following https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS35859?art_lang=en , still same issue. really need help to solve the issue.

Dear All,I have been trying to understand what configurable links are in windchill. Also I have created subtypes for four configurable links also and created parent child relationship but after that I don't how data is being mapped or connected between wtpart and document.Even after searching for documentation everywhere I could only find a few links which would talk about configurable link but they are no different from PTC Help center. Can somebody please explain what configurable links are in Windchill in layman terms and also provide some links to understand what Configurable links are?

When a PDF containing Chinese characters is uploaded to PDF, the Chinese characters cannot be displayed correctly.   Chinese font has been put in Windchill server.   Could PTC tech experts help?  Thanks.

We have a small Windchill customization created by a PTC consultant several years ago. This customization is called from ThingWorx with a wtpart ID.  The customization collects representations of the wtpart and copies the content (typically PDF files) to a folder on the Windchill server to make it available to ThingWorx.  The customization does a few things to get ApplicationData objects from the wtpart, then uses the ApplicationData object in a call to ContentServerHelper.service.writeContentStream() to download the file(s).   I'm using an OData endpoint in ThingWorx to get all the information I need about the representations, so I want to modify the Windchill customization to simply (hopefully) obtain a file given an ID like OR:wt.content.ApplicationData:12125968441.  I'm assuming there is a way I can get the ApplicationData object from the ID string, then use the existing code to obtain the file.   My question is:  In the Windchill API, how can I g

I am running a 217Plus analysis of an assembly with 3 subassemblies. When the calculation completes, Windchill presents a total failure rate ("Failure Rate, Predicted" attribute). That total is not equal to the total of the parts listed below each subassembly. When I run the exact same project as a 217F prediction, the total failure rate is equal to the sum of the parts listed in each subassembly. Why is this different? What is the correct value to use for the 217Plus overall predicted failure rate?

How do I set a default prefix for Product folder creation based on user or site preference. We had 2 defaults set 1 for our US users and 1 for our UK users. UK users are now seeing the US prefix after config option “windows_browser_type” was changed to "chromium_browser". Image shows example of what I am looking for. This is on PDM-Link 10.2 M030 if that makes a difference. A previous administrator had this setup and I can't find how this was done. Thanks in advance.

  Has anyone experienced issues with selecting the check boxes while using Windchill?  We are seeing common yet sporadic reports where the Windchill user cannot place a Check mark in a box for objects list in a WorkSpace or in the Cabinets location. The workaround so far is to Refresh the page then the functionality usually works, but may return at any time. This occurs in the Embedded browser and with a standalone Internet Explorer 11 browser.Shown is an example.    We are using Windchill 10.2 M030 and Creo 3.0 M050  Thank you for reviewing this question.

Hello, maybe somene can help me, on our test environment we are pushing PRO_MP_MASS from Creo into Windchill with success but it come in as 15 character floating point notation, so a washer with a mass of 0.01 from Creo shows as 1.0 E-2   There are 2 objectives for this data, 1) export to excel to perform mass roll-ups, 2) Use it for Creo View colour coded searching of CAD mass against actual or predicted mass   For the 1st objective the floating point notation is OK becuase we can manipluate it in Excel, for the second objective it isnt possible to perform colour coded search in Creo View unless mass is shown as 3 decimal places.   So is it possible to create a calculated attribute which can convert the floating point attribute linked PRO_MP_MASS into a 3 decimal place result?   I know we can make a different parameter in Creo and use relations to push 3 decimal place value to Windchill, but this relies on having some automation to add the parameter when updating p

Hi, We are in the beginning of our digital journey and we have setup our cadworker to create data in the "AS STORED" configuration. In order to ensure the right data is generated, we are recommending that higher level assemblies are checked in, promoted, etc... at the same time as lower level parts.    Are there any good preferences, configurations, processes... to help our engineers gather higher level assemblies for a selected part to ensure nothing is missed?    How do you work with this in your organization?   Thanks!

Hello everybody.   I am struggling to add new ACLs to new roles in a project. My requirement is to add an external user to a project in a new role. This user should have modify content to any Change Notice and Change Task shared to the project.   Looks like this is possible using "Shared Teams" as per the article below: https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS199620 I have opened a case with PTC TS but even they are struggling. All internal notes from PTC R&D point to use the shared tams functionalities.   Has anybody implemented Shared Teams to allow/control different ACLs in a Project? Do you suggest any other way to achieve my requirement?   Thanks!  

There are many ways to handle this but what do we feel is best. Anyone dealing with this now? For those who do not know GIDEP alerts are government alerts about components sent out to defense contractors. These could be issues related to performance or counterfeit parts or other. Basically, to respond to one you need to identify the part, where it was used and its impact to your delivered products.  If there is a hold on a part, you want to make sure the part is flagged for new design use until the alert is resolved.  Its this last part that I would like to explore.   Aside from lifecycle states, what would you do to flag a part to make it clear there is a GIDEP alert against it do that users know? I am using SUMA so I can use those status fields ( sometimes these are MFG specific) but would problem reports work?  It can document the alter but seems like its too buried from the main Part pages. You would have to go looking for it. Thoughts?   I can envision som

In WindchillDS 11.0, there is an Append to existing Data button which has been required in past upgrades to bring in the older version LDIF file into the current version. In Windchill 11.1 M020, that button is not there. When I did an import of my 11.0 LDIF, it overwrote the whole LDAP and the UpgradeManager now fails. How do we import/Append the LDIF from Windchill 11.0 into Windchill 11.1?  

I have custom Change Notice and Change Activity.  During the Activity, I am changing the Notice states based on task being done so that one someone looks at the objects changes, they can quickly see where it is in the process.  The change activity gets set to Resolved or Canceled depending on choices earlier in the process.  I left the code in for the CA Synch on completion but it is not working when the CA completes.  What do I need to look for or do?  I tried to set the CN back to Implementation before finishing the CA.  Windchill 11.1 m020

I have looked at the other Creo View not launching items and it is not the same issue.  I had a user that was able to launch Creo View a few times this morning and then all of a sudden it stopped.  We killed the agent process but that didn't work.  There was no popup for entering credentials.  We tried to uninstall and reinstall Creo View.  I tried to delete temp files and rename the AppData files related to PTC, even a reboot and nothing worked for that user.  However, if I run the browser as an admin under their login, it works.  It created a c:\users directory for the admin so all of the related files were put there.   Windchill 11.1m020cps08

Hi,   Right now we are fetching modified attribute values and we make a report daily once. for now we are using CRON job script for executing the custom class on daily basis.   Is any way in Windchill to do same thing without using CRON job.  Is any way in Windchill, so i can execute a program in Windchill on daily basis without user interpretation ?   Regards, Vivek
