Windchill pro's I need your help.... All of our fasteners are 'rubber band' parts that are unique to each job that we do. Now that we have switched to Windchill and WTParts, I am being asked to update the fasteners, that reside within in our new job template models, from the unique rubber band type fasteners to now use library parts. Our template models are heavily programed so I will need some way to still have the fasteners build themselves based on model parameters (bolt type, bolt material, bolt length, and so on). What alternatives are there to family tables if I want to our models to programmatically select the correct fasteners from the library? We already have the fastener information in excel files so I could pretty easily make family tables but from what I have read about them I get the feeling that there may be a better way. If I can't find a better way to do it, my fall back plan is to create family tables then use them in an "bolt" assembl
Dear Experts,I am trying to rename a WT part name using Import from spreadsheet functionality even though I receive a message stating that validation is succeeded, I dont see the change in the name of the PartCan some one suggest a way to fix this Currently I am using WC 10.1, M040Thanks,Athmanand
Hello to all,I am trying to insert a Bom table from WGM Windchill into Creo Elements Direct Modeling. From Wtpart Structure I generate the report and export to Creo Elements Direct Modeling (see photo 1).In Creo Elements Direct Modeling I see the table generated by Windchill (see photo 2)The word Quantity is written with a special character instead of à with an accent. It seems that in the Italian localization that character is not recognized. This means that the value of the quantity itself is not displayed in the table. (see photo 3).If, on the other hand, I do all the same process with WGM Windchill and Creo Elements Direct Modeling in English, everything works because the word Quantity has no accents and is recognized. What could I also do at the operating system level to make it work in Italian too? Hello, We are using Windchill 12, Rest Service version 2.1. We see that the workflow domain provides Action for Completing a WorkItem and Reassigning a WorkFlow Item. We are, however, looking for an ODATA - API that will Initiate a workflow process. Any suggestions?
Hi, I am trying to configure another internal site's link into windchill's Quick Links. I modified all codes, but CORS error came. To fix that I referred below articles. Article-1: https://support.ptc.com/help/wnc/r12.0.0.0/en/index.html#page/Windchill_Help_Center/FileVaultConfigWCforCORS.html Article-2: https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS318829 But the problem is, 1. I am not sure, where to add those lines referred in Article-1. 2. Even If I add somewhere in middle of the web.xml, windchill throws 404 error. Can anyone guide me, where exactly I have to add the Article-1 lines in web.xml?
Again and again we have the case that we want to load several models at once from WGM in CED, e.g. to compare these models with each other. Currently there is no possibility to do this in the WGM. Proposal for implementation: mark required models in WGM (see Image.png) Expand menu in: "File/Open in/Open in Creo Elements Direct Modeling" (see image.png) The models may be loaded one after the other within the loading process, but the user should start the loading process only once.
Hello, I have two different views of BOM available for a part and the BOM is also available in my downstream system. I want to load the ESI History for the BOM so that the next publish will be a Change action instead of Add action. I want to know if I should load the history for only one of the view or for both of them. Thanks in advance. Regards, Sha
Hi all, I am seeking some assistance to work out how WTCHANGEISSUE links to LWCLOCALIZABLEPROPERTYVALUE. Firstly, we are interested in these records from LWCTYPEDEFINITION: SELECT ida2a2, ida3a4, nameFROM lwctypedefinitionWHERE ida3a4 IN (SELECT ida2a2FROM lwctypedefinitionWHERE name = 'EngineeringIssue'); This returns these records: 122479 122122 EngineeringDesignDevelopmentIssue122530 122122 HomelessItem122574 122122 PartModellingQualityIssue122615 122122 PenetrationAdviceRequest122655 122122 ProductionQuery122989 122122 RedChange123070 122122 StakeholderReviewComment Now if I pick out ida2a2 = 122530 (HomelessItem), I can see this value in LWCLOCALIZEPROPERTYVALUE via IDA2B4. I.e. SELECT valueFROM lwclocalizablepropertyvalueWHERE ida3b4 = 122530 gives me: Homeless Item I now want to link this value to WTCHANGEISSUE but can't see what the relationship is. Any assistance welcome. Thanks in advance.
As part of WC 12 upgrade we are planning to migrate existing Cognos custom reports to Jasper Reports. In order to convert these custom Cognos reports, at-least to my knowledge we need to use Jasper Studio, and create respective templates to import back to Windchill. These are basic reports that fetch real time data from the Windchill, no business analytic is included. Question: Do we need to use community or commercial edition of Jasper Studio? I was not able to figure this out from the different articles or from help center. If any one converted custom Congnos reports to Jasper reports and share their experience would be greatly appreciated. FYI - community edition, does not have support from jasper.
In PTC tool, the MTBF is calculated as follows MTBF = (1/FIT)*100,000 But actual calculation is given below MTBF = (1/FIT)*100,000,000. How do i change this calculation in tool.
For many years, I have had a few listeners employed to keep the system in check and save some time for my users. Its always been a battle between these customizations and breaking OOTB functionality. One that has been my mainstay has been a Rename Listener which propagates name changes from Parts to CAD docs and drawings. First it was the introduction of multi-object rename. Great improvement but broke the listener. I learned to decouple by pushing the act or propagation to a queue task. This allowed the rename action to complete and the queue triggered the associated object syncs. Now, looks like I hit a wall with that fix and Import from Spreadsheet jobs with Parts. These can be used to mass rename things if the name does not match the existing Part in the system. I can work around this but its problematic. Looks like something is modifying an queue task object which causes the dreaded stale object error. I am looking for a new way other than listeners to perf
Let me preface this by saying that we are beginning our digital journey, so we appreciate any help and patience you can offer. Currently, out cadworker is setup to generate visualizations "As Stored", so that it captures the snapshot in time when the data was generated. However, we are seeing some issues: Engineers are making some small changes to the geometry. They are promoting just the part, and no higher level assemblies; since the assy BOM are not being affected. Does your company enforce the user to revise ALL higher level assemblies so that the step file gets updated? How does that impact downstream teams when the top-level assemblies could be getting revised multiple times a day without any 'real' change. That could end up having a lot of wasted work where most items on an ECN are 'no changes'. In addition, we used to tell our team to check-in their work every day. Now we need to have them change this to check-in all of their work at once so that it updates p
Hello, I want to write a query spec in such a way that it should give only the later revisions of a part from a specific version and not the old versions. If any of you got such functionality already, please comment the same. Thanks, Sha
This is a weird one and I do have an open case with PTC but they want to close it. I had IT clone the virtual servers for Windchill and Oracle and then ran the Rehost utility with the Rename option on the new machines. Everything looks good and runs as expected. Until.... I went to do an Oracle expdp backup of the new VM Oracle database. I entered the commands in SQLPlus to create the directory and point it to a folder on the machine. However, when I run the expdp command, Oracle is writing the files to the source machine disk and not the target machine. This is on WIndchill 11.0 M030 CPS16 with Oracle 12cR1. Anyone seen this or know how to tell Oracle to use the cur rent host machine for the expdp files?
Hello, Whenever I initiate an ESI transaction in Windchill, the status is immediately getting updated as "Succeeded" instead of going to "Pending". If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be very helpful. Thanks, Sha
Hello, we have an issue with the numbering of EPM documents and WTparts. The counters for WTParts and EPM Documents are not working in sync. The EPM documents get different numbers from the workgroupmanager, from PDMlink and the WTPart get another number. I even had to add a prefix to the WTPart number to avoid numbering conflicts. This is very confusing for the users. See the screenshot below. Especially when searching for a number in the quick search, the users get several results. Is there a way to keep document numbers in the workgroupmanager, the EPM document and WTpart numbering in Windchill synchronized? The goal is, that the numbers in filename, name and number are identical for the document and the related WTpart. Thanks a lot in advance for your answers. Best Chris
This applies to Windchill 11.1 I have tried the following code which seems to to work for Creo family table instances, at least for some demo objects provided in the Windchill OOTB, but not for CATIA design table instances. For Creo this code works just fine for getting the family table object: EPMSepFamilyTable familyTbl=null;try { QueryResult results = EPMStructureHelper.service.navigateContainedIn(epmDocument, null, true); while(results.hasMoreElements()) { Object obj = results.nextElement(); if (obj instanceof EPMSepFamilyTable) { familyTbl = (EPMSepFamilyTable)obj; log.error("Found family table object " + familyTbl); } else continue; } } catch (WTException e) { log.error(e); throw e;} Is this the correct way to get family table object for CATIA Design table instance too ? Also, when I do get a f
Hi All Does some one know about the Oracle parameter OOTB로 _OPTIM_PEEK_USER_BINDS ? The oracle default values is OOTB로 _OPTIM_PEEK_USER_BINDS=true Customer site ,set it OOTB로 _OPTIM_PEEK_USER_BINDS=false, and found that delete part is two slowly .(200seconds ) is the parameter impact on delete part ? hope receive your any input. thanks Akim
I was working in a project where I should only show a particular subtype of Document in a table. I was putting my code for that and finally I got the table but the contents inside the table ie Name of the document or Number of the Document are not visible. Here I am attaching my code and I am sending the pic of that can anyone say what is the alteration I should do in this code to make my contents in the table. Is there a compatibility chart for Schematics, Windows version, Work Group Manager version, and Windchill version for Windchill 12.0.xxx and Windchill 12.1.xxx
I have created a windchill service which will capture some actions. And I have done with capturing the delete, checkin and state change events.I don't have an Idea about how to capture the revision event of on object. Can someone help me out of it.Some example code snippets would be more helpful for me.Thank you
I am trying to see what is available to perform a WTPart to MPMlink Operation where used. can't seem to find anything useful. Thanks in advance!
Hi, What is the best practice in associating drawings and STEP-files to WTParts? At the moment we have Solidworks parts and assemblys which are associated to WTParts but we would also like to associate corresponding drawings (.slddrw and .pdf) and STEP-files to the WTParts. I studied Windchill Help and I believe I should associate both kinds of drawings and STEPs with "Content" -type association. Is this correct? Also, Windchill automatically associated SLDPRT with WTPart with "Contributing Image" -association. In my understanding, it should be "Owner" -type, but that type is not even available in the drop down menu. Is "Contributing Image" OK in this case?
Hello, Is there an API to make a copy of an MPMOperation ? Thanks,
Has anyone run into the issue of not being able to open or see Creo files using Solidworks Windchill Workgroup Manager Workspace or is this functionality not available with Windchill managing Solidworks files? I'm currently not able to see the Creo files that are in a workspace by browsing to the workspace or if I open them within the Windchill Workgroup Manager for Solidworks.Just want to be able to open the files de-feature them and generate a step file with out saving the original Creo file.Any ideas how to configure Windchill/Workgroup manager to do this? Note: There are currently Creo files in the workspace and the image shows that only the Solidworks files are accessible. I have changed the filter setting to show all files in the workspace in the dialog box below.
