Windchill

For some reason, when i pull a multilevel report from windchill, my report comes out incorrect when i export it.  now, understand.  its not incorrect with its quantities, but, it is.  here is what i mean.  my 2nd level assemblies, are correct.  but under those 2nd level assemblies, it has the incorrect qty of parts listed.  meaning.. i need (2) of the 2nd level assembly.  all the 3rd level parts are doubled in qty.here is the example of what i am talking about.  my top level is 9700-1729-05, under that, i have (2) 9700-1479-01 bottle assemblies.  but, it shows a qty of (2) of the bottle, label and kit.  why does it do that?  is there a way for it to not report it out like that.  see the lower attached image of the actual report from that part.  it shouldnt double the parts under the assembly. here is the 9700-1479-01 bottle assembly Multilevel report.  notice, there is qty of (1) of each item, the bottle, the label,

Is there any way to detect and tag CAD Components (Created for Example by Creo) that have import geometry in them. The import geometery can be from STEP, IGES etc.   To expand on this, identifying components in the database ( PDMLink) that are shrinkwraps.

Hi,   I am working with the ECAD WGM and Altium and would like to have the Derived Data always selected during Check In. Unfortunately, there are no actions in the toolbar or the table header to Select All, requiring every user to scroll down and check off all the items listed here. This is a nice feature in the new ECAD WGM, but users would like to have these items selected by default so they do not have to remember to select them on their own.     -Scott  

How to change component temperature  of system for Windchill Quality Solution 11 to calculate MTBF?

Windchill PDMLink/PartsLink 11.0 (M020)   Is anyone aware of a way to declassify WTParts in bulk? I know how to modify attributes via spreadsheet export/import, but I cannot seem to figure out how to declassify objects in a similar way. It would not be feasible to manually declassify WTParts in my situation.   For what it's worth, I noticed that manually declassified WTParts still retain their PartsLink attributes. I noticed this when exporting as an importable spreadsheet. It seemed that the removal of the "Classification" node structure attribute value removed it from appearing with other classified WTParts (as well as removing the "Classification" section on the "Details" page), but when trying to apply this on existing classified objects via spreadsheet import, it seemed to skip over removing that attribute value (as well as when removing the column altogether), leaving the WTPart visibly classified with all the rest.   Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Hi, I would like to know how to link or use a product specific attribute (i.e. Name attribute) to a CAD Document. The ultimate goal would be to have a parameter in a Part or Assembly that is locked and linked to the Name attribute of the product it is part of. Thank you, Joey

Customer is trying to configure a Windchill 11.1 M020 database in a remote database server running another database application using PSI. He's receving errors in Define Sttings step : "Failed to connect to the database. Pease, verify database connection information and login credentials. if WBR is selected to install then database SID and Service Name must be same"... (please, see the attached PDF for more details about steps and behavior).  Customer tried to configure a new listener and he confirmed that the user and password are working through command line to connect to the database. The OS in the database server is Linux.

Hi All,   This seems like it should be possible, but I can't find any documentation explaining how to do it. We have some legacy solidworks data in Windchill, that I'd like to create visualisations for. We don't have a spare Solidworks license to use as a CAD worker, but Creo opens all of the Solidworks files just fine. So, my question is, can I just set up the Solidworks CAD worker to use Creo instead of Solidworks to generate the .pvs files for Windchill visualisation? If I can, how do I do it?   Thanks in advance.   Chris

We are installing multiple Windchill instances, each different enough that I cannot do one and then clone it. I am thinking if I can setup XML files and use the bulk loader, I can change the 'pieces' that change between instances and then rerun the loader on the subsequent instances to get the data the way we need it.   I am looking for tips and hints from others who have done something similar.

PTC recieves a fair amount of questions about providing an integration to Office365 lately. I'm curious if there's folks out there using Office365 now and what type of connectivity you'd like to have with Windchill? To me, the main difference is the option to use the Microsoft Office Web Applications instead of the locally installed Office applications and the content has a high probability of residing in the O365 cloud, OneDrive or an on-premise SharePoint implementation. The Office Web Apps are only supported on SharePoint and cannot be directly integrated into a non-SharePoint solution. It seems like a "Send to Windchill" option would be nice to have, but I'm curious if there are any other use cases or needs people might have? -Scott

Has anything improved in Creo 5.0 or 6.0 regarding workspace performance? We still have performance issues on remote sites with big workspaces (e.g. > 3000 objects)   In CS223017 I have read: Creo Parametric 6 is being enhanced to avoid server request, use data as available in Workspace cache. This is also to resolve performance issues reported.   Is there any article, documentation or benchmark from PTC that can prove or confirm this? Regards Jochen

I am trying to understand the best practices for sharing product data within WC with companies/partners/suppliers/co-developers outside our company. At present, the only method I can find is to 'pack' the some or all of product data (meta data, assembly & parts, drawings, and all other relevant data) and send it to the recipient. And when there is an update to the data that has been shared, then do this all over again.On the recipient's side, they have to 'unpack' the data and load it into their system. We have a few scenarios here:1. The recipient has WC+Creo - they may be able to take the data 'as is' with very little massaging to get into their system.2. The recipient has PDM/PLM/CAD from another vendor - they have to find a way to "import" the data into their system, and this may lead to data being neither imported into their PLM system or their CAD system.3. The recipient has only CAD system - they have to grab the CAD data out of the 'pack' and use it, perhaps after translati

Hi everyone,   I want to create a "shortcut" for a manual representation creation for an EPM document. The idea is to have preconfigured publish options and assign an action to do the actual call to the publisher.  I have a PublishRules.xml uploaded to the  Site --> utilities --> Visualisation Configuration Administration. Because of the rules in this xml I have a dropdown combo (Output Options) on the "Chose Structure Type" step of the New representation wizard. The default value is "All" but if I select for example PDF it will start only one Publish job with the param-set selected. Now if I want to call from an action the Publisher.doPublish(...) API as I read I have to use the PublisherAction to define the "Output Options".   This is the code that I'm using, but it will trigger the publisher like if I would left "All" in the combo (4 publish jobs will be created):   Publisher pub = new Publisher(); ReferenceFactory ref = new ReferenceFactory(); Pu

Windchill 11.1, Creo 5.0.4.0, Windows 10.1   User is trying to check in Creo files to our Windchill server, and Windchill freezes/gets stuck/spinning wheel of death (see attached image). All other functionality works correctly. User is able to rename, set state, and check out without issue. We have 11 Windchill users and only one has this issue.   We have tried restarting Creo, rebooting the workstation, and changed the config.pro browser option from IE to Chromium. The issue persists.   Any help would be appreciated.

In the context of considering a very large Enterprise Change and Configuration Management process, we are currently looking at the best practices and guidelines associated to managing change and configurations within Windchill;   We would need to be able to clearly check all capabilities and features for envisioning what can be considered as part of the Windchill landscape, associated to several heterogenous systems which can be federated, aggregated and orchestrated using specific middleware layers based on ThingWorx   In case anyone has anything to share in this area - restricted to Windchill and/or extended to any interfaced system(s) - please provide your own field experience, expertise and associated communication materials; this will help our very large program as well as anyone involved into Windchill Change and Configuration Management Processes for considering several implementation layers most essentially using OOTB layers provided by PTC Windchill (and Thingworx)

Hello everyone,  I've developed a Listener that "listen" for a WorkInProgressServiceEvent.POST_CHECKIN and create a BOM files using some rules. All works fine except that WorkInProgressServiceEvent/POST_CHECKIN seems not to be trigerred on the very first checkin of a "new/only uploaded" EPMDoc.   I wondered if this is a known issue or there is a workaround.   Thank you

Hi,   when you use the function "Compare to Part Structure" for a wtpart, you can "Manage Structure Views" for both frames. Wouldn't it be more useful, if you could manage both structure views at once. I don't see a Use Case, where you want to compare two part structures, but with different views.   Regards, Patrick

In what SQL table is the custom meta stored. For example, we have custom Objects types & attributes. I'd like to query the SQL database but I don't know in what table this information is stored? Any ideas?

So I am getting no help from my open call with PTC (I haven't heard back from them in almost a week) or my VAR right now on this issue.  I export a CSV out of Windchill for my template so that I can fill out my PartsLink structure and import it back in.  However when I get to the point of using the command to convert the CSV to an XML file so I can import it, I get an error that says the Header sequence did not match expected header sequence.  When I search it, I get a CS number that says the header should be a certain way, but it is nowhere close to what came out of Windchill in the first place.  That makes absolutely no sense to me.  It should be export what you want imported.   All I need is a good CSV file that has the correct headers so that I can use as a template.  I am on Windchill 11.0 m030-cps11.  Does anyone have a CSV template file with the correct headers that you can share with me?  I do not want to build this by entering every
