Analysis

How does one create a spring with lift off?  If I place a block on top of a spring, compress it, and then let it go, the spring should launch the block into the air to some height and then gravity should pull the block back down on top of the spring.  In Mechanism, the spring seems to act like both a compression spring and an extension spring.  As soon at the block exceeds the free length of the spring, the spring begins actively pulling it back down.  This isn't realistic.  How do I model a compression spring with lift off so the spring stops pulling down on the block after it's thrown into the air?

I've read about thermal symmetric boundary condtions in the Documentation for Simulate 5.0 but can't seem to find it in 6.0? Was it taken out? Is there a workaround?    Thanks in advance 🙂  SNC

Hi, I get a graph result on one of the edges of a beam, it looks like this.  Since the point on the graph is kind of random, I'm curious how does the Creo Simulate picks the points that are shown to me? Is the maximum point I see in this graph has to be the maximum stress along the whole curve? Thanks!

Hello,  I have a valve plate of an axial piston pump and a plate of piston block. The valve plate performs one revolution.I need to measure time-dependent area over which oil can flow (for one piston bore).   Is there any option to measure this in creo ?    Thank You 

I am having a very frustrating problem with Creo Simulate. I have 12 different conditions I am trying to study so I have setup an analysis for each one. I ran about half of them and got good results, but now the analyses are starting to disappear from the list. I have tried to recreate them but I'm getting the error message "The analysis "X" has already been defined. Please enter a new name."   Has anyone else seen this issue? Is there a way to make the analysis reappear or to completely purge the existing one so I can recreate it? Also, changing the name is not really an option because I have a specific naming that will become a disaster if I have to change.

It is possible to simulate the movement of the rototranslatory belt, it translates in the rectilinear part and is wound on the wheel, as per attachments.    

Hi  I would like to export the animated deformation results to a video file so for example i can include in a powerpoint presentation    I can't see any option to export options to a video file. What is the best way of acheiving this?   Thanks in advance

Is there a way to pull the forces in rigid elements in creo simulate?   I use rigid elements to create a stiff connection between points in my simulate models, at some point however I will need to design parts that provide that connection. Is there a way to see the forces carried by the rigid elements to properly size the connection I design?    

Hello everyone,  I would like to ask a question, as I was not capable of finding any answer anywhere.  In Creo Mechanism MDO, in order to extract reaction forces at joints of an assembly, is it possible to idealize the parts and use them in a dynamic analysis? By idealizing I mean creating dummy parts, containing only curves, points, planes and basic surfaces/geometry( with no mass)  in order to replicate the functionality of the joints only, not the entire geometry of the part. The reaction forces would then be used to run an FEA on the original geometry parts. This would help in complex or large assemblies, for example instead of having a slider in a slot, we would have a point sliding on a curve. Is applying forces to those idealized entities going to provide the reactions in the joints that are required?    Kind thanks

Hello Creo Simulate Community!   I am running a static structural analysis on a block placed into a slot and welded. My area of interest is the weld. I am using a weld feature from the Welding Application. When I look at the results, there are singularities near the weld (reentrant corners). When I try to isolate the edges of the slot for exclusion, all the elements that make up the weld are also excluded. I have tried using the mesh control for a component, but weld features not considered to be a component. Is there a way to control the welds mesh size that I am maybe missing?   Thank you all for your consideration on this question.

The Thermal PC board tutorial does not work for Creo 4.0... the temperature value just increases forever.   The assembly used: thermal_pc.asm The changes made: - added heat flow of 150 mW to respective feature - added convection condition to all fin surfaces with conv coef = .075 [mW/(mm^2*C)] and bulk temp = 20 [C]

Hello All,   I am doing some exercises in order to transition from using ANSYS to Simulate. In this exercise I am trying to preform a nonlinear simulation (i.e. large deflection and contacts) on the assembly seen in the figure below. You can see that there is a small gap between the pin and the mounting block. The nonlinear iteration is not converge (It does converge if there is no gap, but that is not reality). Assembly file is attached (Creo 4.0 M090). Any help and suggestions on the setup of the analysis would be welcomed.

Hi everyone,   I'm looking for help to solve my analysis now. Our company has bought extended license of Creo Simulate to be able to run a contact analysis incl. rubber part. I have been trying to solve this by myself and almost gave up on this. So I hope someone could share their experience with me=) The analysis I need to run as follows:1) Assembly consists of:- a valve house made of Ductile iron GGG-50.- a wedge insert made of Ductile iron ggg-50 and covered with a rubber layer (This is a subassembly)2) I could cut 3/4 part of this assembly and use symmetry constraints to save some time.3) Valve house has fixed constraint at the bottom.4) There are contacts (component - component)  between the valve house and rubber (covering the wedge insert). 5) Wedge insert and wedge rubber are bonded (component - component)6) There is not force or pressure applied in this case but the wedge need to go down to meet the contact surfaces in the valve house. I have a dynamic time analysis and want to show stress throughout the time history at a specified point.  The tricky part is that the measure is on a thin sheetmetal  bracket.  I've modeled the bracket as a solid in Parametric and created a shell pair to mesh it as a shell. I want a measure on the top and bottom of the plate so I've created a datum point on each side and created stress measures at a point with time eval checked on and set to each step.  My problem is that when I plot my measures in the results viewer, they both come out identical even though when I look at the contour plot for a specified time step, I can see that the top and bottom stress are very different (opposite signs for stress xx since it's partially in bending).  It seems like the measures at the top and bottom point are both plotting for the shell top values.  Is there a switch somewhere that I'm missing to show the bottom values or a different way to set up the measures?  I

Hello,   I am currently trying to run a static simulation inside Creo Simulate, but it fails to run with no indication as to why (See image). I am unsure about how to go about debugging the simulation (i.e. locations and names of error files). Any assistance would be welcomed. PS I am normally an ANSYS user.

Hi, I have a problem about the autogem control for mesh. For a big assembly, I prefer to make the AutoGem control at part level, then I just need to mesh at top assembly level,but don't need to control the mesh type and property it in top level assembly. But seem I cannot use the part level autogem control when I open the top level assembly. there is a warning tab at beside the mesh control type. Please teach me how to deal with it. The element type I used is Native element.    

Hi, I've installed Creo 5.0.3.0 and applied for a CSL trial license. But I got an error message as the picture showed. And I noticed that PTC should email me a trial license due to this error occurred but I never got the email with the applied trial license. Thus, I've waited and found no solution for this situation on PTC website for days. Can this situation be solved ASAP? Thank you.
