Has anyone had any luck embedding the ActiveX Editor Control within anotherapplication?According to PTC support, from 5.4 on, there is an available ActiveX controlthat can be used. They even embed it within Arbortext itself as a fontpreview (see: lib\dialogs\modifyfont.xml)<activex disabled="true" height="80"<br"/>id="editor" progid="Arbortext.EditorControl" resize="both" width="385">Dtl?></activex>Pretty cool to say the least if I can get it to work, since our writers arevery familiar with the way the editor behaves, but are also dependent uponexternal tools. Embedding it would allow me to keep the authoringenvironment within a separate toolset context.Given that we are a Seattle company, I've mainly been trying to do thiswithin a .NET GUI through COM interop, but I'm curious if anyone's triedthis from any other language/platform (C++, Java, etc).Keith BerardMilliman Care Guidelines

I know the spellcheck improved after 5.1, and can detect when there aremissing spaces between elements. Is there a way (e.g., editing .dcf) to turnoff that boundary around the element <brk> check. I do not want to addspaces near the <brk> tag, but I do not like it looking like the wordsaround the <brk> tag are misspelled.d

I am currently using Epic 5.1 with Print Composer used as my documentcomposer. I will be forced to upgrade soon due to computer upgrades. Ihave a maintenance contract for all of the S/W and licenses that I use. Idon't see Print Composer in the Download area. I have just upgraded to Arbortext 6.0 M010. When publishing a PDF file I have notice that my what was once a 6 mb file has increased to a 30 mb file.We publish using distiller not PE Server or the Direct to PDF built in method.Anyone elsehad this problem?Thanks in advance.Sarah

i am very new to macro in iso draw. can i get any training material to write macro

I'm getting bogged down trying to do something simple.I'm trying to draw items in a macro, some in "No Pen", some with "Thick" lines and some with white fillI'm using rectangle, but am having problems both setting the fill type (can't see how this is set) and in getting the pen type to work.The example below is the simplest way I can show the problem pen problem.macro testrectangle Set active pen "No Pen" create rectangle 9 9 9 19 19 19 19 9 Set active pen "Thick" create rectangle 10 10 10 20 20 20 20 10 end macroWhat I think it should do is draw 1 rectangle in "No Pen" and the 2nd rectangle in "Thick", but what it does is draw both rectangles in thick and thin.Do rectangles work differently to lines - can't you set the linetype and fill for them in a macro?

Does the "oid_attr(oid, attrname)" ACL function return the DTD's "default" value for an attribute if that attribute is not present on the specified "oid" tag? The "help center" entry I have (5.4 M070) for this function does not specify this behavior. An issue I'm tracking down hints that it does, but I could swear I sawpreviously that it does not do this.In any case, I'm curious to know if this behavior is what most users of this API would want, or expect.

We are using isodraw 7.2 and arbortext 5.4 m080.We are creating the illustrations in isodraw, starting with a JT file and ending with a CGM. We are putting the illustration into a custom sized template page where we have some arrows and callouts already there. Placed outside the hatched area. In arbortext, we link to the illustration and it showed up correctly, masked to hatched area. When I would print to pdf everything looked correct, illustrations were masked to hatch pattern. The output worked fine until the consultants we have working with us, suggested we add cgm under the preferences, advanced prefeances, isoviewfileformats. Now it when we open arbortext we get no illustrations. The link is there, the size of the white space is correct, but nothing shows up. We then open one of the illustrations that does not show up in arbortext and move it off the background layer to a new layer, which we have caleld raster. Now it shows up in arbortext, and you can now see the illustration. W

I'm editing a document using Arbortext 5.4, CPA 1.6. Trying to delete a new column command that was probably input with Format-Touch Up and keep getting a message: "Cannot allow a change where neither CPA change markup nor change attributes are allowed."How do I get rid of this command?

Hi All,I guess this quesiton is pretty basic but it is keeping me busy. I want to compose a pdf from the system command line in batch mode.I can call Arbortex Editor from a batch file, loading the correct document and stylesheet. Then all I want is to compose to pdf (with document's name, using stylesheet I have loaded). In the manual they talk of using -c "print" startup command option. I could do this and direct it to a pdf printer but that seems to be a bit of a workaround. I have also seen compose::compose_pdf_macro(), this is not really ideal as there are a lot of files that we need to update, I would rather that it happen wihtout user input. Also, where do I find documentaition on these commands?Thasnk for your help,Mark

I have a few macros that add infos to objects to aid selecting them later in the macro.At the end of the macro, I use the DELETE OBJECT_INFO DEEP command to remove these infos so the items changed in the macro are not changed again next time the macro is run on a different part of a drawing.Trouble is, that the DELETE OBJECT_INFO DEEP command removes all infos on everything, meaning that infos cannot become permanent parts of drawing objects.I would like to be able to be able to have infos (for existence part numbers) attached to drawn items so that you can run macros to select them later, but to do this I would have to start removing specific infos, leaving on the ones that are meant to be permanent.Is there a way to do this?

Hey folks, I'm working at getting my MIL-HDBK put to bed and my boss asked me to get the bookmarks (the left frame that is a TOC) working. I read up on this a bit in the 'help center' and the implication I get is that I need to have the publishing engine (not the print app) in order to do this.I am using a FOSI to produce my output with Epic 5.4 (still haven't loaded 6.0 on the machine with the print license). Hi Folks— I’m running into an issue with a customization. We are defining custom menu entries, some of which contain special characters like U+2611 (check box with check: ? for those of you with font support in email). Everything works OK in my Windows Vista + Arbortext 5.4 setup, but the special characters don’t appear in the customer’s Windows XP + Arbortext 5.4 setup. Has anyone run into this before? I've got a macro that creates a text file, then I want it to open the text file in Notepad at the end.I tried the edit command (noted in the documentation for 7.1, but apparently supported on versions 7.0 F000 and later - I'm using 7.0 M050):edit "c:\WINDOWS\notepad.exe" gl_write_file_name(gl_write_file_name is my variable for the file to be opened.)I get an error message when it gets to the edit command:"Illegal value has been used"I've also tried it with a specific filename (rather than using a variable for the filename):edit "c:\WINDOWS\notepad.exe" "X:\Illustrators Info\illustrators files\Tim Sharp\2011-07-15 drawings.txt"but it still gives the same error.Strangely, if I use the command without specifying a filename:edit "c:\WINDOWS\notepad.exe" ""it does not give the error. Hi,I work for an aerospace industry in the technical publication office. We use Arbortext Editor to create and modify Data Modules (.sgml files) acording to the AECMA 1000D. One of our customers is having trouble with our documents due to the automatic processing instructions that Epic Editor write in the .sgml files, like:file:///C:/DATI/0_Raccolta%20SpecificheXXXX/Epic/proced/proced.fos" type="text/x-fosi" media="editor" alternate="yes">This kind of tags, are not visible to the author with the Epic Editor interface, they can be viewed and removed only using a text editor like Note Pad. I've read that the last two instructions () can be removed by turning set writepi=off on the advanced settings.But what about the first two instructions? The first one reports to the hard disk location of the DTDs and Style Sheets used by the program to open the file, the second one is an automatic string with programs information that Epic put at the beginning of every document that is saved.Can i

I am trying to install an instance of Arbortext 5.3M040 PE on a newserver (64-bit, Win2008 Server EE). The Adobe Universal Print Driver that ships with distiller server isn'tcompatible with Win 2008 (at least per the Adobe forums). Any ideas on a good generic postscript driver for LPT1 port to use withPE? Since I can't get distiller server to install the generic distillerdriver (what the PE documentation says is used internally for testing),I'll need to come up with something else. Thanks -Jason A.
