My memory must be going. I seem to remember being able to drag a sketch out of a feature in the tree and make it an external sketch so I can use it elsewhere. Can I do this?

Hello, I have been having problems with my Creo 9 (Student Edition) installation.When I try to open the Surface Finish Gallery or the Hatching Configurator I keep  getting the warning that the corresponding file "was created with a commercial version of Creo Parametric and is not compatible with the Creo Parametric Student Edition (for educational use only) you are running." after which the program shuts down completely.I am sure this problem exteds beyond the mentioned configuration files.A reinstallation of Creo did not fix this (neither did a second one).There has not been any other version of Creo installed on my computer, nor have I uses any other license apart from the Student license I am currently using.Is there a way to fix this problem?Is it even wise to use the most recent version of Creo or are previous versions generally more stable?Thaks in advance for any input.  

I am using Creo Parametric Release 6.0 and Datecode6.0.6.0Single model is crashing creo, and unable to get it to open. Hoping to see if you have any ideas on resolving so we don't lose 3 months of work.Here are the errors that I facedNo error messages it just crashes

Hi, I installed Creo 9 student-Version in VM-Ware. The installation worked well and I am able to start Creo.But when I create a new part and a new sketch, the references don't seem to match the planes. (see pictures). Also when I zoom out the references dont line up with the referenced plane anymore and move up/down... What is wrong here ? Thanks,

I am trying to open a large assembly provided by a customer that is a “.PKG” file. It appears to import successfully (other than a few import validation errors). Our customer uses Creo Elements Direct.I am trying to search the model tree for certain parts but it’s not finding them. The parts I am looking for are in the model, they are just have other names. Our customer says when they open the file in Creo Elements Direct all of the part files have the correct numbers. Is Creo Parametric fully compatible with a .PKG file from Creo Elements Direct? Please let me know if you have any suggestions.    

Hi all,I'm setting up a basic Family Table for fasteners.I want to add the 'Pitch' column in the family table but it won't let me.The Pitch parameter is in the generic part but when I click on Add Column - Parameter, it doesnt show in the list for selection.How can I fix this?Thanks   

I've been using R14 for a while and recently tried switching to Prime to see if it would be a useful upgrade, but I've failed miserably at reproducing some very simple work from R14 (I didn't want to uninstall R14 to put R15 on to do the conversion so I thought I'd try something from scratch).I would like to plot the result of a simple function across a range, I've declared the function and verified it works but I can't plot it using a range variable for one of the arguments?It gives me the error "There are too many range variables"...what am I doing wrong?

I am not able to save large assembly files in Creo elements/ direct modeling in .pvz or .stp format. May I know why is that happening? Even if I am able to save some assemblies, some parts are not available in Creo illustrate 9.0. I have also attached the error image. Can someone help me with this?   

Hey Guys,Since we are upgrading from Creo4 to Creo8 I am fixing some mapkeys and am struggling.How do I place Symbols in an Assembly on an entity in Creo8?The symbol handling and menu is completely different. The goal is to place a Symbol an a before created DTM_PNTThis is how it was in Creo4:Any help is much appreciated.Best RegardsMaximilian

I'm wondering if there's a better workflow available to export the profile of a flat part as a .dxf file for use with a water jet cutter/laser cutter/plasma cutter table. My current workflow is as follows:1) Model part and define a "Front" view normal to the plate that will be cut2) create new drawing in Creo3) select my drawing template which gives me the "Front" view I've established in the model at 1.000 scale4) File>Save As>Export5) Select .dxf and export6) open the new .dxf in my CAM software and remove the sheet outline I could cut down on my mouse clicks by using mapkeys, but before I do that I'm wondering if there's an elegant way to generate a clean .dxf. When I trialed OnShape you could just right click a flat surface and export it as a .dxf straight from the assembly which was very convenient.  

When I have a filename in my document footer that is longer than the width of the page, the filename runs off the side of the page. To fix this, I have to make the text smaller so that the grab bar on the right side of the text window is visible, drag it to within the margins of the page, then reset the text to original size. The problem is that this setting doesn't get saved when the document is closed. Every time I open the file it's back to running off the page. Is there anything I can do about this, or is there any way I can report this to PTC as a bug? The attached image shows how it's supposed to look at the top and how it looks every time I open the file at the bottom. I'm also attaching my .mcdx file in case that's helpful at all.Mathcad Prime 8.0.0.0

I have a large matrix representing an image, 4000 columns, 2000 rows. I would like to change the values of some of the matrix elements and these elements are defined in a pair of vectors. Trying to automate the process because of the extreme size and complexity. I have attached a small example of what I am doing (and doing wrong) in which I have set up a FOR loop. This loop changes all of the elements, not just the ones I want. Help? See attached example.  

I'm having an issue with my drawings in Creo 9.In the UI I'm able to get the drawing to look the way I want it to, with no hidden lines;However, when I print, one element of my assembly (and only this one) prints out with hidden lines shown:When I return to the Creo window after doing a quick export to .pdf format for printing, the troublesome element has bolded purple lines, which I assume is a clue to what's going on here, but I don't know what that means.Any idea what I've done here and how to correct it?Thanks!

I have legacy XMCD files (mathcad 15) which I'm unable to convert.  I'm also unable to install Mathcad 15 as not even trial versions are available anymore. Is there any way to convert my files or gain access to mathcad 15 still?

Hey there y'all,  I'm having difficulties updating a MathCAD 15 file to Prime 8 in that we're losing functionality of the file. I didn't write the original file, and I've got two weeks experience with MathCAD anything. Lots of Googling and time in the PTC support section.  I can get some plotting done in the Prime file by taking "xx" to "x" (you'll see it near the top in the Live Load Moment and Shear Influence Factors section) but anything beyond the first two plots is broken. Fun!  Attached are the original file as given to me, the file the converter in Prime spat out, and the XML log.    

I am using Creo Schematics Release 7.0 and Datecode7.0.0.0I am trying to create a arc for a library component. When I select on the arc tool I get the following error at the message window "Operation only valid in Edit Mode". I have gone to the basic tutorial document and it states "In the graphics window, double-click on the bottom left corner of the rectangle. The line enters edit mode.". I have done this but I still cannot use the arc tool. When create a User Defined Parameter in the Material Editor and assign this Material to the Part - how can I Display this Material Parameter in Parts Annotations. I want to show it in a Note or in a Table   

I am using Creo Parametric Release 4.0 and DatecodeM130We are having a problem accessing “ISDO_II_SET” (Creo Interactive Surface Design Extension) that we used to have and the “ME Simulation Basic and Elite” extensions. With the upgrades in how PTC packages applications, the license application “ISDO_II_SET” is now called “Interactive Surface Design Extension II (ISDX II). This application allows one to complete both technical and freeform surfacing. I noticed that this tool is only available in the Tier 3 package of Creo Design Advanced Plus. Also, accessing the ME simulation tools is a problem also. If these are supposed to be floating extensions, they do not show up when going through the “reconfigure” process to try and access them.

Hello everyone, I work with Creo Parametric 8, and I am facing some issues with .pvz files. When I open these files in Creo View Express 9, assemblies are ok, but when I import them in Parametric, some of the parts of the assemblies are not the right ones, replaced but others or just incoherent. I don't understand why. I tried a lot of ways to open these files, as created an .asm file and then add the .pvz, and I tried to change the options when importing. To give a example (as I can't show images for confidentiality reasons), on Creo View a sub-assembly composed of a belt and a tank shows when imported into Parametric a part of the belt replaced by the tank. This is why my supposition was that some parts are replaced but other parts. I searched for conflicts in the names but didn't find links. An other question I had was if there was conflicts with temporary files or assemblies I imported earlier. I hope I was clear enough to expose my problem. I would appreciate i

For all of these configurations I want to run one (or multiple) simulation analyses. Would it be possible to automate this?As I read online, it is possible to run a batch of studies, however I did not yet find a way to do so with changing the input parameters of the model.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have a worksheet created with Mathcad 15 and was recently converted to Prime 8.0. After the conversion, I got this error message saying "units are not compatible" in an ODE solver as shown below:The initial and final conditions were defined asThis problem did not occur in Mathcad 15 and before, and I have been struggling for days to solve this.Does anyone have any suggestion? Thank you!  

I'm looking for a good source for hand tool models.   I'd like like to build a library to use for tool accessibility review and possibly to support PTC Manikin analysis.    This will be used commercially, so I have to be careful about licensing.  (GrabCAD is personal use by default)    These would be used in Creo Parametric and Creo View.  Thanks for the suggestions and leads.   Nick B  

getting started on creo schematics after having used pro/diagram,. I"m finding there are not any connector symbols or an easy way to create them. this is unreal for such an expensive product. can anyone direct me to how to easily create multi port connector symbols. it's sad that something this basic is missing. thanks much,
