I am using Creo Parametric - Release 5.0 (connected) Release 5.0 and Datecode5.0.6.0Opening creo parametric 5.0.6.0, two exe are opening in task manager xtop.exe and parametric.exe, what is the relation between these two exe's??when we open two creo parametric, How to relate which xtop.exe is for parametric exe. As there are 2 xtop and 2 parametric exe. present.

In the part environment, is it required to have the TOOLKIT-for-3D_Drawings ( advanced license - 222) to access and modify the annotations? Upon using the ListItems(pfcITEM_ANNOTATION_ELEM) function of the C++ toolkit. I am getting an exception for not having the license. Is there any other way to access it or the license is mandatory for this operation ? 

Hi, I want to set up a drawing template (or would also be happy with a format) where the BOM Balloons pick the numbering for assembly items not from a rpt.index, but a Find Number parameter. In an actual drawing I know how to set this (change rpt.index to asm.mbr.cparam.FINDNUMBER)......but I'd like to have this set already from start when creating the drawings.In a drawing template (.drw) the BOM Balloons tab of Table Properties is greyed out, as there's no model to "balloon". This is my catch 22. I'd like users not having to manually change this in the BOM table for every drawing they create. Does anyone have an idea to achieve this for a template or format? 

I am creating a drawing using a skeleton of a vehicle that I am mounting components to. Is there set show skeleton display to all views at once or do I have to do it each time I create a view?

I am creating a drawing of a vehicle model with components being mounted to the vehicle. So save from having the entire vehicle model in the assembly I created a skeleton to use as the base for the drawing. Once I create a pdf of the drawing, save as or export, the file size is massive at 70MB. This drawing is only four sheets with 3 views per sheet, is this a product of using the skeleton model or is there a way to make these files much smaller.

I have multiple models with draft features where the draft direction will reverse unexpectedly when making modifications to the model. What is odd is that the modifications are not made to the draft feature so no change would be expected unless modifying a parent reference of the draft (not usually the case). Creo does not provide any notice that the normal vector has changed and the model fully regenerates successfully.   These models are complex geometry with many surface and usually some ISDX features in them. I would like to find a method to have Creo flag features where this is happening. Currently the only method I have to catch this is to do a tedious and manual draft analysis check of the whole model.   I suspect the issue is that upstream surface geometry is experiencing a flip of the surface normal and this is somehow triggering the change to the draft feature. This is speculation on my part but based on observations of changes seen of directions for trim and merge

Hi there,We have some parts/assemblies which have the cylindrical-like shape shown in the pictures below. We then cut the model into a quarter-section model for a reason. For the model creation, we must try two extrude and subtraction functions. We would like to automate these procedures because we have a lot of parts/assemblies. Previously we tried to use a mapkey to record the procedures and resume them, however, the record did not contain which region should be extruded and subtracted thus it does not work so well. The parts/assemblies are the almost same size so it should be fine if we subtract the same volumes from two directions. I have used selection glow when presenting models to others extensively. I have recently started working in Creo 7 and the selection glow turns the entire graphics window white with nothing visible except for the selected object.   Has anyone else noted this behavior? Any known remedy for this?   I am aware that the enable_selection_glow option is hidden and not supported by PTC.   This is what happens when selection glow is enabled and the supporting glow options do not modify this effect. !Selection Glow Settings enable_selection_glow yes glow_blur_radius 12 glow_blur_sigma 6.3 glow_blur_type -1 glow_line_width 6   Without glow enabled: With glow enabled    

I learned that you can create diameter dimensions in sketch mode by clicking back and forth between the symmetry line and the line that you want your dimension on for two times. However, in my case, it does not work, I get an error message:My sketchThe error message that I get.Does somebody maybe know what is wrong, why this situation occured or what can be done about it to avoid it? I have used chamfer operation (angle x D) in part, now in drawing when I used model dimensions its not showing Chamfer note but it shows individual chamfer dimensions. How can I have chamfer note in format shown by black ink in image attached? Thanks

While attempting to verify family instances, additional decimal values are being created.  This family table was created using the excel interface.  Length increases from 10.00" to 20.00", in increments of 0.01".  This was achieved by several methods in excel; dragging, function, or simply typing.  After saving the spreadsheet, all instance length values are correct.  Once an attempt is made to verify the instances, many "batches" of them fail, and it seems to be random.  When the spreadsheet is opened, some length instances have values of, for instance, 10.00000000009, instead of 10.10.  From what I can tell, this is out of the sensitivity range for the dimension that is being changed, so the instance fails.  If the instance is opened and the sketch containing the dimension is edited, the sensitivity scale displays, you click "OK" and the part regenerates correctly.  Any help greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello, I am about to create a parametric model with the geometry relying on text fields that change for different parts of a family. For this I need to either know the dimensions of a text field (height and width) or have the possibility to get points (for changing text fields) on the boarder/edge of the text field. Is there a way to do this? As of what I currently see there is only a way to set/get either the height OR the width (which is the line which the text field is aligned to). The blue circled area on the screenshot shows an example text field where I want to grab a point or a measurement on the outer line surrounding the text (The text is aligned to a vertical line on the left.).  I'm happy for any help! Regards,Lukas

Spending way too much time creating multiple sketches in order to make a compound curve that will get extruded/swept to make a shaped tube, round, wire, etc. Ultimately a drawing is needed to manufacture such "Tube/Round" so geometry has to be clean. I use points to generate curves but that is time consuming just trying to figure out how to make the curve since they never are on a single 2D plane. Creo 8 & 9 basic is being used, no access to advanced surfacing or Rex tools. I am curious how many would approach this and not use external modules like Piping. Example: You have an assembly with various components that need tubing connecting them or round bar. You generate simple sketches within assembly in order to make this path/shape. Ultimately you get mismatched curves and many sketches on various planes only to find out the sweep tool will not generate the form because of various alignments, gaps (some extremely small) and you chase yourself around to fixing them. T

I see in the guide about simplified representations but not drawing representations. I would like to ultimately distinguish between notes associated with views and textual block notes on the drawing and in the title block. I would think if I can retrieve a drawing with 'no views', all the views and associated items would be blank. Then I can call GetIsDisplayed() to figure out what is left. I didn't even see anything to erase the views. Is this just not supported?

How to modify the arrow type and size of EZ tolerance?

I am making changes to the model tree in Creo 7 and want to save them. Documentation indicates that it is automatically saved to a .ui file but I can find no evidence of the file being written. Can anyone direct me to an actual accounting of how this is handled?   From support article: For Creo Parametric 6.0-Select Model Tree Settings User-added image > Tree Columns... or for other settings select Tree FiltersMove required column types from Not Displayed to Displayed > Apply > OKStarting with Creo Parametric 6.0, the model tree settings are automatically saved in a *.ui file.   This is one setting I am changing but it is not persistent when restarting Creo.
