Creo+ and Creo Parametric

TL/DR: If you make a family table of dimensions varied from an inheritance feature, the column headings are funky - how to rename?   Follow me a bit ... Thought I had a brilliant idea.  We have two parts that are kind of similar.  Both of them have family tables.  Not similar enough that I want to throw everything into a single .prt with one big family table. But 90% of what's there is common.  So why not use inheritance to share the common geometries??   So I picked part "A" as the master part.  "A" has a family table.  Created a new "B" part by inheriting "A".  Added Varied items to the inheritance feature so I could suppress "A"'s features not needed in "B" and have some "B" dimensions different from "A".  So far, so good.   "B"'s new dimensions also need to be tabulated, so I added the dimensions to "B"'s family table.   Family table column headings make no sense.  In the inheritance feature's varied items, the dimens

I have a question about the size of the drawing.  In a drawing, I add an assembly with 2 views. Their view display is "No Hidden". In Windchill the drawing size is 140MB and the pdf generated in 2 hours by the worker size is 227MB.  If I turn the view display to "shadow", the size of both drops a lot... 27 Mo for the drw, the pdf is generated in 15 minutes and size 4 Mo.  I would like to understand why and how view display works and how is it possible.Are there options to lighten a hidden line view?Best RegardsDominique

Hi.  We have some parts that are in folders with unicode in them.  Creo has no problem opening files that are in unicode folders when we open them directly, but for some reason it is not correctly finding the parts in unicode folders via search_path="<path>" entries in our search.pro file.  (All our other parts are being found just fine.) The unicode is stored in the search.pro file as UTF-8.  Do we need to use a different encoding or perhaps set a parameter in our configuration for this to work correctly? Thanks.

 Everything is normal for my created Simp Reps, the Refit is fine and gives standard size of view. However, for the Default Rep and Master Rep (in which all parts are included), Refit pushes models far far away, just like in the attached screenshot. Is there anyway to fix this issue? Thanks for your help. 

Whenever I export a family table instance out of Creo, it only export the generic.  Is there a way to export just the instance without either saving the instance as a different part number and export that number or using Power Shell?   Running Creo 2.0 & Windchill 10.0

Hello Everyone, I'm having trouble getting text to follow a part when I do an exploded view. Few various manufacturing reasons we don't want the text to be added at the part level, it needs to be added on the assembly level. I've tried two ways. Sketch>project and Sketch>copy paste surface>Wrap. Wrap because the text is on a cylinder. When I explode the assembly, the text is left floating in space and edit position will not allow me to move the text.Anyone know how to make this work? Thanks

Just wondering if anyone else has run into this? Typically I can change the constraints of a component in a pattern by clicking on the Edit Definition of the 1st instance.  I have one assembly where if I click on the Edit Definition of such a component, nothing happens.  If I delete the pattern, the Edit Definition works fine.  The only explanation I could find online was to check the read only under operations, but there is none. Weird, right?

I am using Creo Parametric Release 2.0 and DatecodeM250Need to create BOM balloon in Assembly. is there any way to create BOM balloon parametrically in assembly Model?. We have created the BOM balloon by using Session ID of Sub-Level Components. is there any better way please confirm and Guide us. Thank You.

I am using Creo Parametric Release 7.0 and Datecode7.0.4.0change back round color on start up.change file name length.

When I move a balloon around, it runs away. I was to move it onto a snap line, however, the balloon fled so far away. I am not sure what it was worried about. There must have some constraints in its mind driving the balloon always run away. How to prevent this time-consuming "catch&flee" cycles?

Hello!I need help to define curve with equation. I have simple loop as shown in the attachment.I have the problem to guide a point /curve) on the loop.Although, I use the loop curve at all as reference (and not jus a segment) and I can quide the point in the sketcher, the loop will be not  identified by the motion skeleton.I suppose, that if the curve is generate by equation, maybe it will run.Can somebody write the equation for this loop?Thank you!

I am aware that default accuracy settings changed from Creo 6 to 7 (& 8).  But whether or not these changes affected edge display quality is both unclear and without a way to fix it. Note in the attached images that a "Medium" edge display quality on a 1.5" diameter cylinder is acceptably smooth in Creo 6 whereas the "Medium" edge display quality for the same part in Creo 8 is unacceptable.  Of course, there is the option of "Very High" in Creo 7 & 8 also result in unacceptable edges. If this issue is related to the changes in "accuracy" that occurred in the changes from Creo 6 to 7 & 8, can someone please provide an explanation of how to address this? 

I have a problem about Swept Blend failure. I have made two 2D sections and a reference line, but I can not build a 3D part. As I pull the starting section over a specific point, it can build a part. I have tried several ways like changing the size and shape of the 2D section but I still do not know how to solve this problem. I uploaded some screenshots. Hi Guys, Have any of you come across tangent lines not showing on drawings on round pins?  Is there a drawing setting to turn these on? Its only on ISO views...that it doesn't show up on the drawing. I have tangent edges display style set to phantom in the drawing view. If i turn on fast HLR for drawing they will show up on the drawing, but once i print, they do not show up. (print preview even shows they are not there, so its not a printer setting)       

Help,   I have a copied assy that has flexible components in it, the problem is i cant add item balloons to them. Just the first one but not others.  any idea?   Jim

I've got a rather large and complicated symbol to work on, and as we all know the interface to do this is horrible in Creo, with all text being overlaid on top of each other. So I had an idea: I'll draw my symbol in a hierarchical fashion, and then use Move Special to move all the notes to their correct positions! That actually worked ok, but it's still a lot of work to move all of the notes. Next brilliant idea: I'll use the VBAPI to connect to Creo with VBA from Excel and I'll have a table that just lists all the notes and their coordinates. Then I can work on my symbol in a nice, uncluttered environment and run the script to jam everything together before saving the symbol. This worked less well. I can't seem to connect to Creo when it's in the symbol editing more. It works fine to connect when I'm in part or drawing mode, but I get an error when in symbol mode. I'm guessing it's because of the ever-open menu. Does anyone know a way around this? I just use a copy-pasted &n

To all I created some measures (RMS disp, RMS accel - that sort of thing) but when I look at the results I see nothing . These do not appear in the list. I also would like to create a PSD response graph but again I am getting nothing.The analysis ran succesffuly and all is Ok. I just do not get measures Thanks

Hi All, I'm trying to set up a rigid body dynamic analysis with creo mechanism, and I'm getting a little hung up on a wheel to ground contact. I have a very simple wheel/axle similar to the one shown below. I would like to apply friction between the wheel and ground, and measure the force required to rotate the wheel/axle assembly around it's central axis (also shown below). Ideally I could measure this torque in two situations: 1. The wheels are locked up/not allowed to rotate with respect to the axle. So pure friction between the wheel/ground interface.2. The wheels are allowed to rotate (more realistic case).  I've been starting with case #1. I've tried a 3D contact between the wheel and ground. This seems to work for a kinematic simulation, but when I add friction the simulation errors out (no specific error message in the notification center).My question: Would I be better off using a cam connection between the wheel and ground, or should the 3d Contact wo

Hello everyone, I recently adopted Creo 7 and started my first experience using the multibody functionality. I'm a senior user of Creo/Pro Engineer for about 20 years.I'm facing some issues in the drawing of multibody components. I've found some tips in the community but not all my questions are solved.In the previous versions I used to create the component shown below assembling some parts that represent the rough material and then placing the features that represent the machining after welding in assembly mode.In this way I can create a drawing with a sheet representing the rough components and a second sheet that represent the welded assembly with all the machining made after the welding process. I tried to do the same using the multibody functionality.I created the rough visualization in the multibody part using the simp rep to exclude the final machining. Welded part:Machined part (lower plate and holes on the vertical plate):Here come the issues: 1. it isn't p

This is maddening.  If I create a dimension under 1mm (i.e.0.5), I get the leading zero, but if I create a GD&T symbol, say, a Flatness tolerance of 0.05mm, I do NOT get the leading zero, and it shows up as ".05".  this is infuriating, especially since I did a dwg maybe a month or so ago where it worked fine and I got the leading zero for the same Flatness tolerance!   Anyone get this?  I've gone thru a ton of settings, and nothing is working.  The one thing that worked was setting the dwg to mm units, which FUBAR'd everything else and which I DIDN'T do on the dwg that worked.   I hate metric...
